Very nice city of Highland Village campground. Right on Lake Lewisville with boat ramp picnic areas etc. 30/50 amp and water mostly backin gravel sites. Fire pits, grills and tables at all sites, many directly on the lake. There is a dump station though in an awkward place from the campsites. Best to dump and then hook up toad. Longer motorhomes may have some trouble getting level but there are several level sites. Gate locks early but you have an access code. It is an oasis right in the middle of the city, but you would never know it. Would get higher rating with sewer of course. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Very friendly employees. Park is clean and located right on Lake Lewisville. Majority of sites are shaded at least part of the day. Many sites back up to the lake with plenty of space between sites. Plenty of grass to enjoy. Major stores within a few miles. This is a city run park. To make a reservation you have to get an ID and PW from the city web site. Camping rate for city resident is $25.00, non-resident $35.00, but if you are a senior you get a discount but you have to ask for it when you check-in and they will reimburse your account. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Campground has beautiful gravel sites. Another camper told us that last year this entire peninsula was under water and therefore they have had to rebuild all the sites. The sites are built up with large 8x8 timbers outlining the sites and holding in the gravel. It appeared that each site had a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. There were a few pull through sites in the middle. Though the road in the campground is narrow, we did not have problems navigating it with our 43' motorhome, nor did we have problems with branches attacking the roof as another reviewer indicated. There was a limb overhanging near the entrance of site 45 that we were careful to avoid when backing in and when leaving the site.
Note that you may not want to overhang the 8x8 timbers if you are going to air-level your motorhome - ours would have tried to sit the tow bar down on top of the timber if we hadn't made sure that we were far enough forward of the timber before leveling. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to Flower Mound and to Grapevine down 2499. It was nice to be able to get around without having to get onto I-35E (the construction is ongoing and probably will be for a long time to come).

Parked here for two nights in a 43 ft toy hauler, and space 38 had plenty of room for everything. Right on Lake Lewisville with easy access to fish or boat. Plenty of shade. 50 amp service with clean water with good pressure. Looks like all spaces have ba grill, campfire grill, table and hook for light. I had no trouble on my auto level on my rig. Fellow checking us in was super friendly. It is only about 15 minutes north of Carrolton and 12 from Denton. Will definitely return. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice, 55 site, city owned park. Quiet during the week but full on weekends and holidays. Electric and water service good. Bathrooms are old and limited to two commodes and showers. They get very heavy use on weekends. Convenient spot but way overpriced for a site without full hook-ups. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park was a Jeckyl/Hyde for us. Power was solid, ran two A/C's, fridge on electric and water heater on electric during daytime temps hitting 100 deg without any voltage dips. Our site was at least a 90' long pull-thru. Park staff goes out of their way to be friendly.

That was the Jeckyl part, now for the Hyde. This place is covered over with RV-clawing trees. My 5th wheel is a little taller than average at 13'6" but some of the limbs I had to dodge were at least two feet below my roof-line. Interior roads are paved but very narrow and they allow campers to park their cars and trucks off the edge of the road. Getting past those vehicles is like threading a needle. The trees in my site were so close to my roof that I could not deploy my sat dish or my over the air antenna. But even with the OTA antenna laying flat on the roof I got 40 channels. Almost everything except CBS.

My rate was higher than previous posters because I was a non-resident. This place is definitely a local favorite as evident by the weekend crowds. This is a $25 park, it is not a $35 park. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pilot Knoll Park campground is a beautiful park on Lewisville Lake. It is operated by the city of Highland Village. Wooded sites and most all are on the lake or have lake views. Sites are $25/night and have 50A electric and water with a central dump station. Back in and pull throughs available. Most sites can accommodate large RV's. Reserve online through the Highland Village website. We were in site 30 (primo site) this trip. We've camped here many times and will return. Great place for a weekend gateway. 5 minutes from town but feels like your away except for airport traffic. Highland Village is a very safe Dallas suburb. So if you are travling through and looking for a safe spot this is a great option. 50 amp electrical and water hookup. Excellent pressure as I had to turn down my regulator. Utilities are dedicated so no sharing a utility pole. No issues running AC. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We camped at Pilot Knoll Park in Highland Village, TX, in site 32 for $25/night in November 2014. We've camped here many times and will return. Several sites have great lake views. 50A sites available and some are 30A only. Asphalt pads. Central dump station. Good walking and hiking trails. Great urban park. Walmart, groceries and restaurants 3 miles away. They have their own reservation system through the City of Highland Village. Intimidating at first, but easy to use once you set up an account. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here while visiting relatives in Dallas. Nice, well-maintained campground in a city park located on the shore of Lewisville Lake. Paved roads and level gravel sites. Restrooms/showers are clean. No cable TV or Wi-Fi. Gated access for security. Shopping/restaurants located about a mile away. Quiet, very pleasant park with lots of shade. We would stay here again. Campground managers / hosts are very friendly and helpful. Due to family circumstances they worked with us to allow us to extend our stay longer than their 14 day policy. Verizon Jet Pack worked well at this campground. If you are going to be returning after the gate closes, make sure ask for the code. Restrooms were always clean, although they are a bit old. No price difference for 50 vs. 30 amp sites. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is an exceptional city park. Huge sites, even for our 35' class A. Each site has a separate patio area. Beautiful lake view sites. Contrary to previous comments, there are no true waterfront sites, in that the sites stop short of the water, allowing everyone access to the lake. It would be nice to have sewer connections, but for visits of less than a week ( or driving up to dump) it is very doable. Even though there are plenty of shade trees, some sites offer clear view for satellites. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Pilot Knoll Park and the City of Highland Village have elected to no longer accept the National Parks & Wildlife All Access passes. These passes provided retired military with service related disability compenasation to stay for 50% off. I guess this shows how much the City of Highland Village cares about the retired military. This year they also increased the rate to $25 per night. This increase and the requirement to pay Active.com a $2 fee to make reservations, have increased my costs from $9 per night to $27 per night. This park is not worth paying triple the cost for. Pilot Knoll Park is also becoming a little too run down and could use some improvements. There is no Wi-FI and poor TV reception. The other problem is the guests seem to think they can go anywhere. If you have a lakeside campsite, you can expect people to come into your site with their chairs, coolers and grills and "occupy" your campsite. I think I will find a better place to spend my recreational money. We camped at Pilot Knoll Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
