Unless you are a single hardcore fisherperson, this is not your park. Interior roads are deteriorating. Sites are grass and gravel and not level. 20 miles to most shopping. Management is either inept or incompetent. The manager modifies the rules for her favorites and holds everyone else to them. Lots of gossip and cliques. The owners don't seem to care about more than superficial improvements to the campground We camped at Hummingbird Cove RV Park and Mobile Home Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Stayed at this park from January 10 through March 1. Rate reflects monthly rate plus electricity. This is a friendly RV park for "Winter Texans." In a rural area out side of the congestion of the valley traffic, but close enough to enjoy all of the Valley for the winter season. Park manager is very friendly and takes very good care of park guests. Sites are level but grass, no table at sites. This is a no frills RV Park on the Arroyo Colorado. Has fishing piers and boat ramp for those that like to fish. Driving distance to Port Isabel, South Padre Island, Brownsville. Must go into San Benito, Harlingen or Rio Hondo for groceries etc. We camped at Hummingbird Cove RV Park and Mobile Home Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

We spent a month here based on friends' recommendation. We enjoyed the time here as its a friendly place to be. Its out in a rural area on the Arroyo Colorado River, has boat docks for fishermen who keep boats in the water. They can easily go out into the bay for salt water fishing. The sites are nice and long but rather narrow however the very congenial manager spaces trailers every other site, if possible. There is a new rec hall with very nice, tiled restrooms, shower, exercise room and kitchen facilities. There is a very active social life here among the "snowbirds" and retired Texans. Its a 45 minute drive to South Padre Island and all its attractions, a 30 minute drive into Harlingen for shopping and 25 minutes into San Benito to the closest Walmart. There are numerous activities within a 2 hour drive westward where winter Texans abound. You need satellite TV to get anything but four basic TV channels over the air waves. The WiFi worked well for us. It's very dark most nights so great for starwatchers. It's very quiet here at night. The Park Owners are super nice as is the great manager, who lives there. Just be careful of the sticker burrs in your trailers or on your pets! We camped at Hummingbird Cove RV Park and Mobile Home Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.
