This is a gem of a state park. The sites are not that level but very nice. Would definitely recommend the stay! We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Motorhome.

Great park at a great price. Staff was great and easy to deal with.We chose a site with out sewer, but they do have them.Like all state parks no WiFi or cable, but at $14 per night that is fine. T Mobile service was fine. Hiking trails were great. If possible, take a drive and look at site first, just to find the best way in. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older state park which could use a little love but gets the job done at a great price. 50 amp FHU but we lost power a couple of times during our stay for hours @ a time. This was throughout the campground, not just us. The location is a ways off the highway so if you want quiet, this will fit that bill. Stayed in Feb and there were only 4 campers in the entire FHU loop so it was nice to get some peace and quiet. The amenities are limited. Bathrooms are fairly clean but outdated, canoes available, horseshoes, volleyball and hiking. Dog friendly with tons of walking areas including dog friendly trails. There's a Super Walmart 20 min away and Texarkana is a 40 minute drive. ATT and Verizon voice worked but cell internet was not usable until I hooked up the booster. With the booster I was able to pull in T mobile at 8d/l. Verizon and ATT were really bad even with the booster (less than 2d/l) so T mobile won for this spot. OTA channels were available (some major) but did seem to come in and out a bit. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Motorhome.

Quiet park. Spots are well separated. Nice get-away from Dallas. As with most State parks, beware the entrance fee ($3/person). Lots are spacious and mostly shady. Site surface is asphalt. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great little State Park with pull through 50amp + water and sewer. Spotless R/R with wonderful hot showers. Easy walk to the lake for fishing. We will be back in our 37' MH. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Motorhome.

This was our second time at this park within a year. It's nice and quiet, even when it's crowded. Sites are spacious. Lots of trees. New amphitheater platform is nice. There was quite a bit of flooding this trip, so trails were not as accessible. We just stayed one night because this was a half-way spot on our travels. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed March 22-29, lot 16. Excellent helpful staff. The park is beautiful, with nature everywhere you look. Gorgeous view of the lake. There is a lot of fallen timber that really should be cleaned up. Cell signal was excellent. We use a satellite dish for our TV. Dish placement was tricky, but we made it. Would for sure return for another visit. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The rangers and volunteers provide friendly service to go with the quiet natural setting. The pull-through sites are narrow, curved pads, parallel to the paved road. Towering trees provide plenty of shade and block satellite reception. AT&T phone reception was good, data signal was poor. The full hook-up utilities were good. A daily entrance fee or state park pass is required in addition to the camping fee. We would stay here again. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here 2 nights. Heavily forested park. Good access roads and pads. Very helpful park staff. 2 boat ramps to access lake. Around 10 miles from Atlanta, TX if you need something. Very nice leaf colors changing in the fall. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Campground was scenic, shaded, quiet and relaxing. We had full hookups at our pull-through site #16. We enjoyed watching the birds along the shoreline of the lake. Terrific sunset! No cable or Wi-Fi, but our AT&T cellphones showed a strong signal at our site and the surrounding area. Texas State Parks are a terrific value. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is one of the most secluded parks that we have stayed at. Not a lot of campers and the sites are spaced well apart. Beautiful area, park is going through some changes with logging out dead trees and cleaning up the areas. The bathrooms were spotless although small. The staff were excellent and helpful. Kind of out of the way but a great place to stay. We would stay here again. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Very pretty state park, friendly staff and camp hosts. We stayed in “Knights Bluff” section; it was very quiet. Full hook up pull through sites, some more curved than others, but we had no problem with our 37’ and tow. Texas is now letting you fish free from the banks of their parks. Beautiful lake around this park, great sunsets, and good fishing. The park was clean and obviously trimmed and cared for, but still “wild” enough to satisfy. Walking trails were nice, didn’t notice any litter. Our Verizon phone and Wi-Fi card were both very temperamental here, work one minute, not the next. Park does not have Wi-Fi. The only other detractor was that fact that this park does not have a gate, its open all night long. There is no “live in” staff here, only local police presence. There is a bit of traffic driving through at night on the weekends. We were not disturbed, but didn’t feel a secure as one normally does in a state park. There are plenty of deer, raccoon, squirrel and other animals. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it for a quiet restful experience. We camped at Atlanta State Park in a Motorhome.
