Stayed here for one night while passing through the area. We called about mid-day on a Sunday and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. We arrived well after the office closed and our package was waiting with everything we asked for. Long gravel pull-throughs with lots or room for 40' TH and Ram dually. All utilities in good position and worked well. No cable (due to a problem with the cable provider), but there were a ton of over the air stations available. A lot of trees, so good shade (but iffy satellite).

Close to I-35, but no noise. This was a good park and it is VERY convenient to all that Austin has to offer. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is on the east side of I-35, off of the frontage road. If traveling south, you will actually go past it, then exit and loop around and come back up the northbound side.

It is located just of IH-35 south of downtown Austin. The spaces for short-term travelers are all pull-thru sites. They are gravel and fairly level. They offer free Wi-Fi, a pool, dog park, laundry service, propane service, escort to your site, and trash pick-up. Being just off IH-35, you would expect more road noise, but it is pretty quiet. There are a lot of trees, so satellite is not available at every site. We stayed in site 33 and had good Direct TV service. If you're a Texas Longhorns fan, this might be a nice place to stay if you are attending an activity. Altogether, this is a nice campground, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling through the Austin area. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park on the south side of Austin. Full hookups, but no cable. Wifi is good. There are trees, so you may or may not get satellite, but local stains are available with an antenna. Rate is based on Passport America. When I arrived I found out the third night, a Thursday, was going to be $70 because it was motorcycle weekend. No mention of it when I made the reservation. Be sure to check rates, they have lots of special weekends that are more expensive. Would definitely recommend the park. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice RV park and conveniently access to downtown area. All sites are pull-through, very level and well kept. We enjoyed the large number of mature shade trees and green areas. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This RV park is located alongside the Interstate, only a few minutes from downtown Austin, making it extremely convenient for a visit to this city. The site was well shaded and level and easily accessible. We stayed for four days and would have stayed longer but earlier reservations didn't allow for us to stay the two more days we desired. Reservations for this campground are strongly recommended. We did get a 50% discount on the rate for the first three days stay based on being retired military. This is a gated park, so security is better than normal for an RV park. The restrooms, showers and laundry all required a code to enter. There is a small store where basic camping items, as well as ice is available. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Austin in the future. Tips for other Campers:

Large supermarket (H.E.B.) located very nearby. Easy access to the Interstate but be aware that traffic is heavy at most times. Road noise might have intruded but we used our a/c almost continuously so we were not bothered by road noise.

We stayed five nights, two with Passport America. Very convenient location to explore Austin. Situated on busy I35; the constant road noise may bother some. Escorted to site by friendly staff. Check in was pleasant. Office Staff were excellent; they worked us in for another night and held packages for us. Site was level, and slots were close, but well landscaped with large mature trees and shrubs, so we never felt cramped. Utilities worked fine, with a lighted pedestal. Our sewer had two inlets, which might be convenient for longer rigs. Long term campers around the outer ring were slightly problematic (tethered barking dogs, mainly) and not the most attractive. Nice kids play area. Central Dog park is small but well fenced. WiFi was Tengo Internet, and fairly reliable (2 Mbps up / 0.3 down). Laundry worked well ($1.50 a wash). NO CABLE TV was available, due to a 'Time Warner issue'. Kind of surprising at this price point, but we received 25 digital local Austin TV stations. Grounds maintenance is a bit hit or miss (lawns needed mowing). Trash pickup was available daily. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Eclectic Austin SoCo district is a short ride away. Free back-in angle parking early in the day on South Congress. We ate at Torchy's Tacos and strolled north through some funky shops.

Staff nice. Easy access from I-35. Foliage between spots. 10 cent post cards. Park abuts I-35 frontage road, which means you hear the traffic, especially when outside. Stayed a week, will stay again. Austin is expensive to stay. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We were overnighting in Austin to visit our daughter and preferred to use
a park affiliated with PA. Site was ok with shrubs on both sides for privacy. Gravel pad with a table. No road noise but no cable and satellite was blocked by trees. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Verizon works good in this town. When departing, able to get on I35 North without any difficulties and get on with our trip. Turns are tight but can be made. Roads are narrow with cars parked close to edge. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here many times in past, in south Austin off I-35. Tight spaces, newly paved roads, gravel sites, old tables but treed. Many full time campers and trailers, not many motor homes, in Feb the park was 98% full, so call way ahead. The manager and office staff were very helpful. Cable not working, but strong wifi, antenna and sat reception. Nice pool & office areas. Electronic gate at entrance. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This RV park is in the south Austin area off I-35 and reasonable distance to UT, Presidential Library, south Congress and next door to a HEB and many restaurants in the area. The traffic in Austin with so much road construction is very busy, so check for road closures.

We stayed here when our coach required service in Buda Tx. The staff were very accommodating of our unpredictable needs. We ended up staying 10 days and enjoyed the time. The main negatives we had were the traffic noise from I-35 and the fact that this park is on the feeder. For those not familiar with Texas highways, this means that to get to the park you need to go about two miles south of the park to be able to turn around go back north to get to the park.

Our site was an adequate size with trees that did not interfere with our satellite. They have trash pickup at your site and we were able to buy propane on site. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff at counter but they make you set up before you can pay. So it's an extra trip to the office plus an extra $20 deposit on a card to get into the campground. Guy directing us to our site was pretty nasty. Had us move our RV to the far edge of the driveway because our slide might hit the bushes that overhang the gravel drive. Trimming would have solved that problem. No cable except for a sign at the office blaming the local cable company. Highway noise woke me several times at night. Showers are fairly clean but varied from burning hot to freezing cold at the same setting. Didn't walk around the place so I don't know about the permanent resident area. Expensive for what you get. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects military discount for 1 of the 2 nights we stayed, very helpful staff, lots of trees/shade (we were still able to get satellite TV but many sites likely would not), grass between sites, tables at some sites, sewer hookup had to be improvised due to landscape timber preventing a downward run of the hose as normally hooked up (it appeared most sites would not have this problem) , free WIFI was TengoNet requiring personal info registration w/Tengo ...I never use Tengo due to problems every time I used them over several years in the past. Everything about this RV park was good. I appreciated the American Legion (military) discount. The free WiFi was the best that I've seen in any RV park. A park employee showed us to our site and fully explained the park procedures. The park is close (driving distance) of many restaurants, grocery stores, and much more. I would recommend this park if you want to be in downtown Austin. Traffic on I-35 can be extremely heavy. We camped at Austin Lone Star Carefree RV Resort in a Motorhome.
