We stayed at site#46. Nice view of lake. Plenty of enough room for out trailer and parked 3 vehicles. Staff was very friendly. Bathrooms were clean and stocked with toilet paper. We camped at Holiday COE in a Travel Trailer.

We always spend a few days here when traveling through Dallas / Fort Worth. There is plenty to do being located so close to the city but we love the serenity of the lake. Most spots are large enough for big rigs with 30/50A service. We have always enjoyed the Camp Hosts here and the facilities are well kept. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Spent 3 nights during the week at this park in October. Our site was fairly level and had an extra width (up front) for an additional car or toad. We were 200 yards from the lake among the cottonwood trees. Just enough room to extend the slide and awning. Nice place to walk or just stay in the Fall. Suspect you need reservations well in advance in Spring and Summer. We camped at Holiday COE in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The US Army Corp of Engineers Campground, Holiday (Texas), is located in Benbrook, TX. A great, basic park. Water and electric only. Bathrooms available. Some showers but didn't use park facilities. I rated 4/5 because the water pressure is so low, unlevel site and distance to power pole and water. We should have turned on our RV water pump while taking showers. Views of the lake are great. Camp hosts are very friendly. Long pull thru camp sites available but not all with electric and water. Site #76 was on top of the hill but not very level. Had to have DS rear tires off the ground to get coach level. Sites #72 & #73 for me the next time. Glad I discovered Holiday COE park in Benbrook that has long pull thru sites (100 feet or longer) for my 40' Class A towing an 18' car hauler trailer. Electric pole and water connection required my 10' power cord extension and water hose extension also because of the distance to RV connections. Power good during our stay. One dump station has easy access for a long coach. Great, interior roads. Watch access road from highway. Large, abrupted depressions from where culverts cross roadway. Will jar your teeth!! Someone attempted to smooth out the ruts with asphalt. Just take it slow! I would camp here again when in the area!!! Only $14/night with National Park Senior Pass! Limit is 14 days, however. We camped at Holiday COE in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park. Not much more to say. The sites are very spacious. There is no septic, but the cellular signal is super strong. This is not a "destination" lake. It is a fishing lake and it suffers a lot from Texas droughts. The staff are very good though. It is a great weekend getaway. The trees overhanging the roads in the main loop can make for nervous negotiating of turns with 40+ foot trailers and motorhomes. We've never had a "bad" experience here. But, the sites are NOT level. Bring lots of blocks. And the road coming to the campground will beat you and your trailer to death. Watch for the huge/rough rut in the road hidden in the shade of the trees and go SLOW! I wish someone would throw a bag of gravel across it at the least, for crying out loud! We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday Park Campground is a Corps of Engineers park on the west side of Benbrook Lake near Benbrook, Texas.

Miles of roadway for biking and walking plus miles of hiking and equestrian trails. The park is still recovering from floods earlier in 2016.

They have many RV sites with water and electricity. Central dump station. Back-in and pull through sites. Some sites unlevel.

We were in site 1. We've camped here multiple times and will return. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice COE park. We were in #58 which is labeled as a 100+ foot pull-through. Due to the shape and the trees (both low hanging branches and the tree trunks themselves), it was actually a pull in and back out spot for our 40' 5th Wheel. The site was not level at all and the water post was on the opposite side of the trailer as the electrical post. The grass was about 8 inches long, which is far too long for a campground full of kids running around (snakes). However, this was only the case in the southern loop of the campground. The other parts seemed much nicer. Skip the south dump station altogether (it's on a hill) and drive five minutes to the north station, which is far more accessible and flat. The staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return...just not to site 58. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Upon arrival, very friendly and helpful gate attendants said site 78 (our reservations) was unlevel and he would recommend we change to 73 which was level. This is a beautiful, quiet, relaxing park with spacious water and electric sites that needs updating. It is big rig friendly but most sites are unlevel and not as described on map. 90 over the air antenna TV channels, good satellite and phone reception. There is no gate code so after 10pm you must walk to site. Will definitely return. We camped at Holiday COE in a Motorhome.

Nice park. Very little shade. The sites are uneven and would be hard for larger campers. Our water didn't work at our site. The maintenance guys tried to fix it unsuccessfully. They said it had been out for 2 days but the main gate didn't tell us that or move us when we checked in, despite the fact that plenty of sites were open. That could have been handled better. But the park is pretty and quiet. The sites are large. And there is hiking in the park. We camped at Holiday COE in a Travel Trailer.

Our rate was with the Federal Senior Agency Pass. The park was not full at all and it would seem a good idea to come in and pick your site rather than reserve one as the map on-line does not properly represent the distance between sites, from sites to the lake and from sites to the restrooms, and many sites are not at all level. The restrooms here are sorely in need of upgrade as they are too old and one ladies room actually without a door, which results in major bug issues. The sites and interior roads are paved but also need refinishing. The water & electric hookups were good. There is plenty of shade and a nice amount of space between sites. Each site has a covered picnic table on a concrete slab. Gate personnel were very friendly and helpful. We camped at Holiday COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is what I would want to know if I were staying at this COE campground. If you use Google Maps to find the campground it will lead you down a dead end road. I would estimate that a very small percentage of sites in this park are level. One of the major problems on the COE reservation website is that you can't tell what kind of site you are committing to. I would recommend that you call before coming to make sure you will fit. Site 56 is much smaller than stated on their website and us up hill. You will not be able to level a class A motorhome. We checked in for a 14 day stay that included Memorial Day weekend. When we pulled up the attendant notified us that he didn’t think we would fit in site 56. I called the 1-800 at www.recreation.gov and ask if they could find us another site after the Memorial Day weekend that we could move to. Once inside the park the 1-800 can't help you. I ask if the park attendants could find us another site after the Memorial Day weekend. Other things to know are that most Texas lakes are very low, beaches aren’t the same, boating isn’t the same, etc. This campground is also very near to a military base. This means jets and helicopters as late as 11PM at your quiet campfire. We would not use the showers or the bathroom. One of the urinals would overflow and dump all over the floor. One of the showers drains was completely plugged and overflowing. Had not been cleaned or maintained for some time. We camped at Holiday COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a 40' motorhome on site 072. Nice 100' pull thru with a nice lake view. The sites where we were had excellent spacing between them, but, again, check your particular site before reserving. Our Millenicom WIFI had 4G and Verizon 4 bars. The electric and water pressure were good. The one drawback I see with this particular park is that they are now using Volunteers instead of Contracted personnel on the front gate and because of this, you can no longer drive up without a reservation and get a campsite thru the front gate personnel; you have to call Recreation.gov and make your own reservations; this also goes for making any changes to an existing reservation; these Volunteers cannot get into the Corp of Engineers reservation computer system. We would definitely stay here again We camped at Holiday COE in a Motorhome.

Rate is with the Federal Senior Pass. We loved our site #73. It's on a loop with only one other site. It was a large pull through and right on the lake. I would give this park a higher rating if it had sewer. One note: We tried the showers but even with the water running for a few minutes it remained cold. Maybe because it was early in the season and not used enough? Not the best shower rooms we've been in at a COE by a long shot. Be aware gates are locked at 11 and open 6 am. We camped at Holiday COE in a Fifth Wheel.
