31 Parks near Blanco, Texas
May 2016 - $15.00
Park has new owners as of the first of the year. Name has been changed to Canyon Cove. Previous reviews are accurate for previous owners. New owners are working hard to clean up the park and change the image. To their credit this park was so run down that this cannot happen overnight. Old RVs are being moved out. New RVs are already filling those spaces. Restrooms and showers are not currently available, but portable toilets are located around the park. We are in a full hook-up site so that is not a problem. There is no laundry currently at the park but there is one close by. Except for entrance all roads are gravel. Also note it is difficult to enter the park from the west due to the location of a traffic light. I highly recommend coming from the east to the park!
Now for the good! Park grounds are actually beautiful with a spring fed upper pond that feeds a flowing stream of small waterfalls down to a lower pond near the entrance. Most RV sites are far enough away from the highway that there is minimal road noise. Park is very quiet at night. There are huge trees throughout the park and many of the sites are shady. There are many full hook-up sites with 30/ 50 amp service. Wi-Fi is being installed. Cable TV is available but a box has to be rented. Not a problem as reception of most major channels from San Antonio is good with an RV amplified antenna. Our rate reflects a monthly stay. Give the new owners another year and this park will be rated much higher. - gbm2001
Jan 2016 - $25.00
It is a permanent resident park with old trailers all around. Not very clean. We would not stay again. Site not level. - glohills
Oct 2012 - $25.00
I have been here for 4 weeks. I am utterly miserable. The park has so much potential to be great, but it fails in every way. The residents are mostly very poor and trashy. Every day, I deal with neighbors screaming and yelling and fighting and cussing. There is large amounts of drug use and sales going on here. The cops come in frequently to deal with domestic violence with my neighbors. There is loud blaring redneck and ghetto gangster rap music playing constantly. There is also a lot of theft from items left outside in cars and around the rv's. This place has a lot of free roaming stray cats that just breed and breed and breed. There are several loose dogs that are very aggressive. The owner (although a very nice woman) is only on site on Sundays. The park has lots of trash around. I can't even bare to go into the nightmare of a laundry room that's in a metal airplane hanger. I leave to go to a nice laundromat. The "ponds" are nothing but disgusting muck waste water filled with trash and who knows what else. They're also horrid mosquito breeding pits. I really have nothing nice to say about this park. I really regret moving here. I'm leaving as soon as this month is up. What a complete nightmare. - Forestwoman
Feb 2005 - $24.00
After reading reviews of this RV Park we decided to stay here and made a reservation for 3 nights. After arriving we soon learned that the website made this park appear nicer that what it really turned out to be. The management was very friendly and helpfull, but they seem to be lacking when it comes to enforcing the rules on those that are permanent residents. The area around the spaces of the permanent residents was messy and many of the rigs were in disrepair. We had are two young children with us and arrived around 6PM and by the time we were finished setting up around 7PM the kids wanted to play. Although this is described as a family park we felt as though the atmosphere dictated that at this early hour it was quiet time and the kids should be kept inside. Additionally, the park was small and difficult to manuever around. With or without children there are much better choices in the area. - Lawman5383
Mar 2016 - $67.00
Activities center around the large water park and the bounce area at the front. The playgrounds were nice and plentiful. There were several Easter weekend activities, including egg hunts and hay rides. The park was nearly full. It was great to see families and children everywhere. There were many cabins and rooms in addition to the RV spaces.
We stayed in a "premier" back-in, no slide-outs space. The gravel site was quite unlevel, requiring the longest front jack deployment we've ever used to obtain front-to-back level. The site also required one lynxleveler block on the curb side for side-to-side level. Parking across from the site made it difficult to back in. Out site view from the front was the RV storage area, and we had a view into other sites from the rear.
To be properly situated, we had to back our 30 ft trailer right up to the fire pit, making it unusable. The power and water connections were mid-trailer, and the sewer connection was well behind the trailer, requiring two long sections of RhinoFlex sewer hose. The trailer wastewater connection to the sewer outlet had little fall.
We were close to the trailer next to us, and we could not deploy our main awning. There was a large tree on the curb side. The picnic table and fire ring were behind the trailer, while most sites had these beside the trailer.
Park is on septic system, so you must use only septic system safe products. - GKLott
Jun 2015 - $55.00
Do you know how some parks you just don't get a good vibe from? This is one for us. The whole dog shot records that took up more than 45 min while at the gate was not needed. We had all our dogs paperwork but they didn't seem to know what the heck they were doing.
They got our site wrong and put someone else in our site...they found an open site for us but had to spend another 45 min waiting on everyone to sort that out.
There are tons of tent campers here...they walk through your campsite like you are having a yard sale. It's sad really.
They are TONS of RV parks in this area. Avoid this one. They nickel and dime you to death at this park and they are rude.
We'll never return here. - RollingRock
Mar 2014 - $54.00
We have been to this Jellystone several times. All our experiences have been very good! They have good activities for kids of all ages. Love the pancake breakfast they host often. It’s nice to give me a break cooking! This last Thanksgiving we also were at Jellystone. It was great fun at the group dinner!! The only thing that would improve this campground is some updates in the restrooms. They are very clean, but a little on the dated side. Very friendly helpful staff! We are not Winter Texans, but they had a very fun group staying there the last time we went. We will return again!! - Texas Traveler
Jun 2016 - $50.00
Attractive campground sitting on beautiful landscape. There is a creek that runs behind the campgrounds that is crystal clear and slow moving, don't think "Texas Tubing" here but rather lazy sunbathing in cool, clear water. Restroom and shower facilities are only handicapped by the shear lack of number, only a couple of showers available, but are otherwise clean and stocked. Spent a weekend here, visited a couple of breweries, Perdernales Falls State Park, ate at Pecan Brewery and Old 300 BBQ. Great hitching post to park your RV and explore the area. - stlucia
Jun 2016 - $35.00
Beautiful setting and a very well designed and cared for park that is clean and maintained. Spaces are wide enough with good access to hookups. Our space had a tree that needed trimming and if you have a dish, you could have problems unless you can move it around due to the trees. We did have some problems with the wifi. It started working finally several days into our stay but they said they were working on it. The issues were with so many people watching movies. All spots were level. Although it's on a major highway, I was far enough back so noise was never a factor. I will stay here again. - LEB2
Jun 2016 - $35.00
This is one of the nicest "RV Resorts" we have visited (we usually look for state parks, but it was booked). Easy access off US 281. We got started a little late today and were on track to arrive after 6pm. The office called us at about 4:45 and stated they would leave our information on the front of the office. No problems at all.
Park is very clean and there is plenty of room between sites (one full site width between each site). - Montyhp
Jul 2016 - $20.00
Park personnel were friendly and efficient. Our site, though somewhat small, was adequate for our 5th wheel and was clean and orderly. Deer amble around the park in the evenings and early mornings. They are shy but not frightened.
If you want to see, swim in, or fish in the river, you will have a pretty good hike ahead of you. Parking areas are quite a distance from the river, and trails are mostly up-and-down hill. - K Graham
Nov 2015 - $20.00
I gave this a 9 because the park doesn't have full hookups. Other than that it is a great place to come. The sites are large and for the most part level. There are tons of great hiking spots and places to explore. I think we hit 7 or 8 geocaches while we were there. Lots of things to do somewhat close by - Fredericksburg, Johnson City, LBJ Ranch and so on. - drhuggybear
Oct 2015 - $20.00
We camped in site 57 (water and 30A electric) at Pedernales Falls State Park. Many sites can accommodate large RV's, but a few are too small. Beautiful park. Great hiking and swimming. Scenic views. Park staff and hosts were great. Will definitely return. - drfife
Jun 2016 - $35.00
Established older park that is on the east side-half way through Johnson City. 90+PSI water-above average wifi-close to restaurants-shopping. Would be an acceptable park for several day stay for exploring the Hill Country. Will stay again when in the area. Very courteous lady at the office check in who also escorted us to our site. - jc2
Apr 2016 - $30.00
It took me 9 calls to find an available park in Texas Hill Country during Bluebonnet Season and we're glad we found this one! It's centrally located, The owner met us with a smile and tons of information about the area. She has a great hand-out with day trip suggestions covering the highlights of the area and the oh
Their side lists local businesses, restaurants and distances to their services. She guided us into our large pull thru and made sure we enjoyed our week in the area. Would easily plan a longer stay there next time thru. By the way, wild flowers in the area were gorgeous! - monamonaco
Mar 2016 - $25.00
This is the second time we have stayed at this park and we would definitely stay here again if we happen to be in the area. The sites are very close but easy to get in and out of. It wouldn't be a park we'd want to put our awning and chairs out but mainly a great park for touring the area.
Manager/Employee was very friendly and nice. - Wanderin
Mar 2016 - $13.00
Have been to Potters Creek many times and the part is always in good order. Problem is that floods in the past 2 years have wiped Potters Creek out and they are talking about it being another year before they are back in full operation. At the time they have 26 sites open to walk ins only. Cranes Mill is a good alternative for good or until the park is reopened full speed. Everything was good in this park before the floods and I imagine will be just as good or better in the future. - George M
Jul 2015 - $13.00
This is a very lovely COE park that was made more enjoyable by the 50% discount from our Senior Lifetime National Parks Pass. Our site was very level with a covered picnic table and fire ring. As with most COE campgrounds, only water and electricity was available. The dump station was very convenient located. The restrooms were nice and the showers were large with great water pressure; however, the contractors did not clean them very well when we were there. The rest of the park was very well maintained. The lake was very low when we were there in November 2014 for a week. We stayed in the upper area with a lot of shade and wildlife; the deer literally walked up to the units next to the fence. We will definitely go back again. - SewSoBeachy
Mar 2015 - $13.00
Beautiful COE park, especially when getting 50% off with National Parks Senior Pass. Paved roads and concrete pads. The blind
back-in sites back up to the Canyon Lake 150' away so you could hear some boat traffic. VERY large sites with covered picnic tables. We chose an open site (99) allowing the rooftop dish easy access, the 50a utilities worked well (no sewer so used the dump station), Verizon hotspot worked well, rooftop TV antenna worked well also. We'll remember this CG the next time in this area. - big greg
Oct 2015 - $32.00
The park is under new ownership since August and they were born to own an RV park. They were the most gracious of hosts and went out of their way to satisfy all my requirements. All the facilities which I used which included the restrooms, showers and laundry were spotlessly clean. I would recommend this park without any reservations. - BEAR601
Dec 2012 - $37.00
As this is the first review in a long time of this park, let me start by saying the orginal owner has repurchased the park after several years. He takes great pride in this property as it was his grandfathers ranch. The office is in his grandfathers barn, built in 1947, and very nicely redecorated. After check in he met us at the site to help us in and asked if we found everything to our liking. He apologized for the stickers (as others have menitioned) and said he was working on getting rid of them. Our 120 lb goldenpoo/Great Pyrenese did not get any. Everything worked great, no cable but stations from Austin and San Antoino can be recieved. Post Office is in front of park, but we did not hear a thing. We will definitely stay here on our way back north to OKC this sping. - rmartin
Jan 2011 - $37.00
Was going to stay 2 weeks. There was no place for dog to walk without getting sand burrs. Owner was nice when I had to call to get site changed. Asked for pull through when I emailed, and was assigned a back-in. Decided to move closer to San Antonio after one night. Never saw any office personnel. Left money in locked office slot and moved on. - pascobaby
Mar 2016 - $24.00
We stayed in Turkey Sink, space 52. Site was pretty level with one block needed on front tires. Real nice hiking trail down to the river, where another trail followed river for 1/2 mile. Great photography opportunities. We are also able to access Honey Creek State Natural Area for a guided hike, which the hold every Saturday at 9:00 am.
Cell coverage and OTA channels were fine and we were able to get our DISH satellite working. Will definetely stay here again. - Davishouse2
Nov 2015 - $24.00
Overall the park is great. The trails are well maintained and the facilities are top notch (considering it's a state park). The camping sites are large and plenty of room to move around. Though the bathrooms are clean overall, the shower area within the bathrooms were in need of some attention.
The family has stayed at numerous state parks and this by far has been best maintained. - Pigcrib
Nov 2015 - $24.00
Very nice state park. The bathrooms were the cleanest we have seen anywhere. The sites are large and wooded in the Turkey Sink area. Some of the sites, while large are a little tight to back a big Motorhome into. Watch the overhead trees. Water and good 50 AMP service at sites. Great hiking, the river is breath taking, we and our dogs had a wonderful time playing in it. The Discovery Center is excellent and well staffed. Park hosts were as good as they get, very helpful. Wifi isn't available at the sites but you get a good signal at the bathrooms. Cell service isn't good, and we could only get 4 antenna TV stations. Wish we had known sooner, Tweedy's an excellent RV supply center, is only 7 miles down the road. Good if you need supplies or parts. - The Sandbox
Mar 2016 - $11.00
Rate reflects monthly rate. Stayed here from December to April.
Park is an older park with somewhat narrow asphalt roads and some sites can be a challenge to back into with a larger vehicle. Park is right on US 281 and getting out can be a challenge sometimes. Verizon air card worked fairly well and had 2 to 3 bars on my Verizon phone. Most sites have asphalt pads. Sites in the back of the park are gravel and under trees. Dog park is a hike down a rocky road that is somewhat washed out. You can get to the dog park going across some grass though. They have a guest house for visitors if you need it. Laundry rooms were clean but small. 4 washers and 5 driers in the one I used.
Owner is real friendly, along with the staff. Each site has a cement patio and a picnic table. Lots of permanent park models and long term campers. I would stay here again. - Paul_L63
Apr 2015 - $30.00
Previous reviews are spot on. Clean park, very pretty, lots of permanent folks. Staff is friendly. I'm writing this for several reasons. First, this park can not easily handle the big boys. Even though I specifically asked if they could handle a 45 foot motor home with tow and was assured they could and had room however, we were told upon arrival that they had to move people around to accommodate us. The site we were assigned to was substandard, too close for all of our slides to be opened. No offer to discount the site further, but they did tell us we could move over into the grass. Not a good idea as it was raining. Further, the electric pole was so short that our surge suppressor was laying on the ground. When we mentioned it we were told that was standard, everyone laid them on the ground.
Finally, this park is located on the east side of Hwy 281. This is a busy, divided highway with no easy way to get into the park if you are headed south on Hwy 281. You must go past the park and make a u turn back to the park. When going into San Antonio you leave the park driving north, take the first exit to make a u turn to head south to San Antonio. We were here 2 nights visiting family in San Antonio and although we like the park and wish they could accommodate big rigs we would not return due to the difficulty getting around. - Harley Oma
Mar 2015 - $29.00
This was a very nice park. Clean restrooms with clean showers. Nice big level pull-thru site with mature trees which provided nice shade. The owner met us when we arrived and led us to our site. Everyone was very friendly. We were invited to a potluck, Bingo, and an Italian night. We didn't attend them because we already had plans, but thought it was nice. We would definitely stay here again. - GigiRox
