We were here for only one night, but liked the idea and would have liked to explore a bit more. Laundry was a big draw and it was cheap and easy there. The sites are narrow and close together. Gravel surface. Lots of long-termers. But the staff were all super friendly. We saw the pool, but no time to swim. Such an interesting idea to turn the old fort into housing. I'd go back just to explore a bit. WiFi was amazing. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Very unusual parl. Old military fort civilianized. Mix of camping and lots of owner residents outside the campground. Lots of history here. Site and hookups were very adequate but not fancy. Friendly folks. Some meals available on weekends (we ate breakfast on departure day). Membership association but no problem getting a site. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not mush to do outside of the historical fort. We are geocachers and there were some in the area so we kept busy with that and touring the fort grounds.

Campground is showing it's age, but still a nice place. We saw deer, wild turkeys, tons of rabbits, and birds. And there is the 3rd largest spring fed swimming pool in Texas. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

You won't just "happen by" this wonderful RV park, located in Fort Clark Springs. It is quiet, full hook-ups (including cable), and on the grounds of a former Army Fort, now a resort. What a great premise! The lady at the office was a delight: friendly and informative. After spending time further west (Big Bend National Park) in the dusty high desert, this place is a true oasis! We will definitely return here, with a plan to stay more than just a night. The fort is huge, plenty to do. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a theater and restaurant at the fort/resort. A spa. Beautiful grounds that would be great to bike around. The RV park sets a bit away from the rest of the resort - so it is peaceful. We saw deer walk through the grounds across the road from us. The town of Bracketville is small, but this resort is a nice destination. We were only able to stay one night as we were passing through, but this delightful surprise will bring us back again.

As mentioned in other reviews, the RV park is quite a ways back, although the roads are paved and well maintained. There are some overhanging trees that you have to cross over into the other lane to avoid. The pull-in site was level and the utilities were well grouped. An excellent place to stop, and a great value for an overnight stop. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Coming into the park is reminiscent of the old Army posts. Beautiful grassy open areas and some old post homes. The RV park is way in the back of the property. The sites are gravel with grassy areas and big trees around them. We'd stay here again and would recommend it. We were only here for one afternoon and night. My husband golfed for $11 including the cart and loved the turkeys and deer all over the course. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

The Grill the restaurant at the golf course was marginal. We had hoped to go to Ziggys just outside the park for BBQ briscuit but it closes at 4.

After a long drive through the community, we finally found this RV park. It's very peaceful and well kept with herds of little deer that come browsing at twilight. The Wi-Fi was perfect. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

This is more like a big parking lot with RV's parked very close together. Not only were we not given a picnic table, there wasn't room for one. People parked their rigs on the road because the spaces were so small. Nothing to do here if you aren't a golfer, except to tour the old historic fort...that takes half a day. There was a dead rat by the trash cans that stayed there the entire week we camped there. I also picked up glass from the campground. Must be lots of old DEAF people here as everyone seemed to have their TV's up VERY loud. Our dog was the only one we ever saw on a lease. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. The only reason we stayed a week was because we had booked this online before we actually saw the place. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

A very nice place to stay and lots of history. Staff that run this place are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. There is not much to do here except watch the deer and turkeys and visit with other campers. If you need medical treatment of any large amount you have to drive about 40 miles. Wal-Mart is about 35 miles away but there is a grocery store in Brackettville which is just out the gate. The Wi-Fi works good except when the park fills up. That is to be expected. Sprint air card works in EVO and is fast. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Travel Trailer.

This park was a great find! It is very well maintained and secure. The park is exceptionally well managed. The Wi-Fi was excellent during our entire stay. We stayed for 9 nights and used our Passport America discount for the first 2 nights (cost was $12.75) and then paid a very reasonable weekly rate. For those traveling on US 90 in Texas through Brackettville, we would highly recommend staying here. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Right off the highway, but you have to weave through the complex to get to the park. The site was level, long and wide. Check in was easy and manager is friendly and helpful. Has cable TV, WiFi (we couldn't log in), Verzion phone and aircard worked. We couldn't lock up our Dish. We had deer walking through in the evening. Nice quiet park off the beaten path. Very large interesting Fort in years past. We would stay here again. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived yesterday. I have to say that the office manage was very nice and helpful and yes the park is on an Army Depot. However there is nothing here. The town is the size of a Wal-mart Shopping Center. The Old Town used for John Wayne movies is closed and you can't see it. The closest shopping center is about 40 miles away. If you want quiet and to sit and watch the deer and turkey, then this is a place for you cause after that there is nothing. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I would have to agree with some of the previous reviews in that this is one of the most unique RV Parks I have ever stayed at. It is an old Army Fort that has been converted into a gated home community with an RV Park located towards the back of the fort. The deer roam everywhere and anytime. We saw a few turkeys but lots of deer. The pool is the largest I have ever seen, 100ft X 300ft and it is located in the front of the fort. There are 2 golf courses, a 9-hole for free and an 18 hole. When you stay at the RV Park you get use of the fort amenities. If you stay here, be sure to see Alamo City, an old movie set built by John Wayne in 1959 for the filming of The Alamo. There have been over 100 other films made there since then. We will return if we are ever in the area again. We camped at Fort Clark Springs in a Fifth Wheel.
