Overall Rating:

Nice small park right on Buchanan Lake. Quiet weekend stay with about half of RV sites occupied and a half dozen tents in the tenting area. Hallmark Loop RV sites are level asphalt pads surrounded by crushed granite. Shade trees are sparse. Area between sites is spacious compared to private RV parks. Metal/wooden picnic table, fire ring and lantern pole not close by RV asphalt pad. Utility hook-up in good condition and did not experience any problems. Two sewer hook-ups available. I rated the site BAD because Site 6 has a street light 20 feet behind asphalt pad (in the middle of the field) so no need for any outside lighting as entire site is very bright which extremely limits night sky viewing (who wants to camp under a street light?!?!?). We couldn't understand why the light was in the middle of the field, but perhaps peak season brings lots of activity to the field that we didn't see during our stay in late October. Road noise for some sites on Hallmark Loop as they are close to rural highway, which was busy during the day; not so much throughout the night. Be prepared for lots and lots of sandspurs. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice place, friendly host. Shaded sites. The park is listed as pull trough but only Site #9 is a pull through, all others are back in. Asphalt drive fairly level, various lengths.

If you have dogs they will pick up stickers, they seems to be everywhere, is just the type of vegetation/grass. An abundance of low flying insects and tiny spiders. Did not bother us but somebody may not care for. Probably seasonal. All sites have 2 sewer hook up on raised concrete plates. 20-30 & 50 A seem to be standard at all sites. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very nice small rv park. It's a wide open park - the spaces have lots of area between them but no privacy. Would be great for groups with multiple families to camp together. Specific sites can be reserved. Really pretty views of the lake. Full hookups, long paved pads, nice picnic area at each site with a grill and fire pit. Only negative was tv reception - few stations would come in and none of the major stations for news, etc. really impressed with this park! We camped at Black Rock Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Lower Colorado River Authority park that is well maintained. The hookups are in great condition and each site appears to have to sewer hook ups. They have 13 RV sites that are in the upper loop, two other sites are an office and host. The restrooms and showers for the RV loop were clean even though the park was exceptionally busy. Wifi is available and fast but you have to request the username and password from the hosts. Huge park with a swimming beach, shore fishing, playground and a volleyball court. Plenty of room to get out and play. Each RV site appears to have plenty of shade trees, a bbq grill, fire pit and picnic table. You also have to pay an entrance fee on top of the camping fee which is why the cost is $28 instead of $20 as listed on the LCRA website. Will come back to this park if visiting the area, just try to avoid it on long weekends if you like a quiet spot. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very quiet, well maintained and alongside Lake Buchanan, the water is very low but still accessible. The bathrooms are very clean and well maintained seemingly on a regular basis. No laundry facilities and a small children's playground. The sites are very spacious but not very level, although very shady. All have a fire ring and a above ground BBQ grill, alongside a gravel patio. Pets are allowed and as long as your pet is well behaved they can have a great time. I would have given this campground a higher rating but for the in-level sites. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: February, 2007 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This park is managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority and is about 20 yrs old. It is very well maintained and everything is clean. The sites vary in size but most are quite level & large. The hosts were especially nice even brought us campfire wood while we were visiting family in the area. All the roads are paved and fun for biking. There is a playground for the kids. The lake is currently very low so not sure about swimming and fishing. Kingsland is about 5 miles and Burnet about 10 We will definitely stay here again--they are open all year. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Motorhome.
