Overall Rating:

We have stayed here twice - once in March of 2018, and again in June of 2018. Both times are stays were nice, quiet, and pleasant. There are plenty of shade trees, but they aren't so low that they threatened our camper. Owners take a lot of pride in this campground. Restrooms and campground are very clean. If there is a problem, they work to fix it. There are a lot of long-term residents here. They are very friendly; most of them are retired. There isn't much to do at this park, but it is a nice, safe, clean place to stay and then drive to other locations and interests. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice HEB grocery store on Hwy 46, west of the 281/46 intersection. Walmart is nearby as well. Guadalupe River SP is about a 30 minute drive away to the west down 46. New Braunfels is about a 30 minute drive to the east down 46. San Antonio, and all that this awesome city offers, is about a 30-40 minute drive to the south. You WILL run into traffic returning in the afternoon.

We enjoyed this park. Nice owners. Dog friendly. Nice little nature trail in park. Bigger dog park than we've seen. WiFi weak. A few park community events (pot luck dinners). Close to grocery stores. Not too far from San Antonio. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mostly monthly rentals. Our site was right next to the road and close to Hwy 281. A little noisy at times. WiFi worked very good. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We usually stay here when visiting our son in San Antonio. This is an older RV park. I could say "an oldie but a goodie." Almost the entire park is inhabited by permanent residents, but they keep several sites open towards the front for short term visitors. The office staff is friendly and efficient. This would not be my idea of a destination park as it has no type of entertainment, but it is a very good place to stay when visiting any of the local attractions. The people living here appear to be very friendly and welcoming. It must be popular because the office lady told me they had no long term sites available until April or May of 2017. I will be back. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Rate reflects monthly rate. Stayed here from December to April.
Park is an older park with somewhat narrow asphalt roads and some sites can be a challenge to back into with a larger vehicle. Park is right on US 281 and getting out can be a challenge sometimes. Verizon air card worked fairly well and had 2 to 3 bars on my Verizon phone. Most sites have asphalt pads. Sites in the back of the park are gravel and under trees. Dog park is a hike down a rocky road that is somewhat washed out. You can get to the dog park going across some grass though. They have a guest house for visitors if you need it. Laundry rooms were clean but small. 4 washers and 5 driers in the one I used.
Owner is real friendly, along with the staff. Each site has a cement patio and a picnic table. Lots of permanent park models and long term campers. I would stay here again. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You have to go north on US 281 and make a U-turn at Hwy 46 to go south to San Antonio on US 281.

Overall Rating:

Previous reviews are spot on. Clean park, very pretty, lots of permanent folks. Staff is friendly. I'm writing this for several reasons. First, this park can not easily handle the big boys. Even though I specifically asked if they could handle a 45 foot motor home with tow and was assured they could and had room however, we were told upon arrival that they had to move people around to accommodate us. The site we were assigned to was substandard, too close for all of our slides to be opened. No offer to discount the site further, but they did tell us we could move over into the grass. Not a good idea as it was raining. Further, the electric pole was so short that our surge suppressor was laying on the ground. When we mentioned it we were told that was standard, everyone laid them on the ground.

Finally, this park is located on the east side of Hwy 281. This is a busy, divided highway with no easy way to get into the park if you are headed south on Hwy 281. You must go past the park and make a u turn back to the park. When going into San Antonio you leave the park driving north, take the first exit to make a u turn to head south to San Antonio. We were here 2 nights visiting family in San Antonio and although we like the park and wish they could accommodate big rigs we would not return due to the difficulty getting around. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice park. Clean restrooms with clean showers. Nice big level pull-thru site with mature trees which provided nice shade. The owner met us when we arrived and led us to our site. Everyone was very friendly. We were invited to a potluck, Bingo, and an Italian night. We didn't attend them because we already had plans, but thought it was nice. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very old campsite. That is not to say it is bad. It has some very nice features. For instance, trees are mature and provide very nice shade, vegetation is mature and well-kept, structures are made of local stone, and the people are very friendly and helpful. Many site activities and a clubhouse. Unfortunately, most of the sites are occupied by long stay RVs, mobile homes, and small cottages. Also, the trees may interfere with personal dishes and antennae. Phone well in advance for a reservation, for one of the very few sites that may be available. Price was for a small motorhome, GS membership, and electric only. However, all the sites do have full hookups. Of the 155 spaces, 42 are pull through spaces. Lastly, the Wi-Fi was pretty much useless, at least for the night we stayed here. Very very weak signal. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park based on high ratings from other users. Our stay was inconsistent with those ratings. The following are some issues to be aware of before booking. Because the park is quite large and the bathrooms are located in the middle, the walk from many sites can be quite lengthy. The posted speed limit sign is 10MPH and it is enforced strictly, you may be forced to park on Hwy 281 if found in non compliance. The sites are very close together and at odd angles, which can make positioning a large motor home difficult. Make sure to know how long your stay will be, as any additional days you stay will be charged at the highest possible rate. I would not stay here again. Nice park on US 281 North out of San Antonio. RV park is a mixture of long term/permanent folks in mobiles, park models, and RVs. We were placed near the front but really didn't hear road noise from the busy road. Wi-fi was available and worked well. There are some activities. Enjoyed our three days here and plan to return. Rate shown was daily for Good Sam. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

RV Park was on the right side of town for my jobsite and was at great location for hanging at the river on hot days. Gravel pads are not quite level, but I would stay here again anytime I work in the area. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Older park with a high percentage of full timers, however, the owners were friendly and the amenities for the price are great. Inexpensive laundry, great number of cable TV channels, and excellent WiFi. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Motorhome.

The rate reflects the monthly rate. We stayed here for 3 months. This is an older park but pretty well kept up. The Wi-Fi does not work unless you are right by the office so we had to contact the cable company and pay an extra 30 a month for Wi-Fi. There are many mature trees providing lots of shade. The one downfall of this park are the employees. While he owner is a very nice man, he rarely worked. The other workers except one, were downright rude. You learn right away not to bother to say hi when walking past them. Quite a few camp activities during winter months, but again did not participate because workers made everyone feel unwelcome. We will try another park next time we are in the area. Will not stay here again. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We have lived off and on at this park. The park caters to many elderly folks that are both Winter Texans and lots of widows. There are no real frills here, but the park staff is excellent and the sites vary from excellent to good. The park owner would almost give you the shirt off his back and it's a very safe park. It's a family run business and they actually care about their guests. If your looking for a nice quite RV park with lots of trees and not in the crazy San Antonio area, then this is your park. The Wi-Fi service covers mainly the front part of the park but you can easily take your computer up to the office and and sit outside in the beautiful Texas sun to check you mail. Park also has excellent cable TV. We camped at Texas 281 RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
