Omg, this RV resort is the best one out there. They have a big pool, sand volleyball, lake access, boat access, fishing, beautifully cleaned restrooms, club house, office, and much more. Definitely come here; it's the best RV and Travel Trailer Park you will ever find it is soooooo relaxing and beautiful. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Great for full-size motorhomes, but not so great for A-frames/Popups: There is a large light at each spot which was probably designed to be helpful, but attracts all the flying insects when you are unfolding your camper at night time. They also have this sign up at the front desk telling people not to put stakes in the ground for canopies/awnings for those of us that do not have built-in awnings - which means they didn't run the water lines according to code and don't want to get them fixed. Bummer. The campground itself is pretty good, just a little bit of a nuisance for folding trailers. They only accept one day of Passport America even though we were there for two days. (It wasn't a holiday either). We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

It was just OK. The sites are close together, the pool is really small for all the camp sites, there is not any good place to swim in the lake. The pros: the pool is really pretty and the games (horseshoes, volleyball) available. The cons: as states above, plus LOTS of stickers, we were told AFTER we arrived that we should bring our own water because of the taste (which was awful). There are very few sites that have view of the lake. We will not stay here again. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park is a fantastic deal using Passport America. There are only a few sites on the water so we ended up staying close to the buildings. The sites are pull through and easy to get into. We chose our own as no one was in the office when we checked in. This seems to be an older campground with dirt/gravel roads. It rained the night we stayed which of course is no fault of the park but it made a huge mess of our site and rv. The pool was closed as expected this time of year. This is probably a very good park for summer fun and families. We were just passing through and it was kind of far off the highway for just that. There is a small recreation room with a sitting area, tv, some free DVD's to watch, and a book swap. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Just sorry we could only stay one night. What a wonderful setting on Lake Buchanan! It looked like boating and swimming were available. Sites were easy to get into. It is a winding road of about 9 miles off the highway, but well worth the drive. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Rally Rate for 40+ rigs. Park is easy to access off State Hwy 29, and is located on the southeast side of Lake Buchanan by the spillway of Buchanan Dam in Burnet, Texas. Easy check-in, but ensure they assign a site that fits your rig. Many sites have trees; all are fairly level gravel/sand combo with grass, some very near lake access. Very nice cabins. A few long-term RVers, who are neat and well maintained. Nice laundry and restroom/showers, with ADA-compliant access. Wi-fi is weak in spots, but solid at the clubhouse. Office has some emergency supplies. Full hookups (30 & 50 Amp) and easy connections; no cable and scant OTA reception (1 channel). We used the clubhouse for our rally which offered full kitchen, tables/chairs, and outside BBQ pits--very nice! They have VERY strict pet rules to protect all guests, so read those before your arrival. Website offers many discount options. Will definitely visit here again! We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is an attractive park situated on a lake with a boat ramp. The ramp is available for public use so there is some additional traffic generated by it. The roads and sites are gravel. Quite a few of the sites appear to be seasonal rentals. Our site wasn't level front to back; getting our MH leveled was manageable but our sewer hose had to go uphill to get to the drain. This meant that the tanks couldn't fully drain and created a messy situation when we disconnected. The people in the office were very pleasant but the person who spoke with me forgot to tell me that our pull-through site entered from behind and required that we go around a loop to pull in. Since we were arriving after hours this could have been problem if it already had been dark when we arrived. I would have rated the park a 9 or 10 but with the sewer situation I couldn't. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This park is just about how the reviews make it out to be. The term "resort" is used loosely but all in all not a bad place to stay. The worst thing about our stay was the stickers in the dogs feet, there are stickers everywhere. Other points are, easy check in, friendly office staff, our site was not very level and was mostly dirt, granite gravel, utilities were ok except for the sewer hose that had to flow uphill, had to trim a couple of limbs to get the slides out. Lots of winter Texans but all of the folks we met were very nice, we did have a nice view of the lake. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

They gave us the PA rate even though they said they were no longer part of that program. Even at the higher rate, this park is a good value. Our pull thru site (#25) was extremely long and was a "buddy site", meaning the next site (#26) faced the opposing direction, where you and your traveling companion's entry doors faced each other. Yet, there was a good 30 ft of native grass common area between you. Very nice set-up for 2 rigs traveling together. The native grass area had burrs this time of year, so you had to pick them out of shoes before entering your rig. The sites are a packed dirt and gravel. It was dry when we were here, so no issues for us. Good hook-ups but weak WiFi. They do have an exercise room (nothing fancy, a treadmill and 2 stationary bikes), a laundry facility with 2 washers and 2 dryers (older, but clean), a small but nice pool and hot tub that was well landscaped, a small playground. The hot tub was not on in January but looked nice. They have access to Lake Buchanan for small boats and canoes. Little road noise. Options of shade and no shade sites. Cabins on site looked well maintained from exterior. Grounds were clean, no signs of neglect. Outstanding service. Would definitely stay here again, with or without the PA rate. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Nice quiet park with lake views. Lake shore swimming not great right now because of drought, but otherwise still great for water sports and fishing. Swimming pool is better than most parks, it has a spa and is well maintained. RV sites are crushed gravel, but level and nicely equipped with picnic tables and some shade. This park has changed ownership recently. The new owner is very conscientious and the onsite management is friendly and courteous as well. Very quiet and secure. It is not a crowded park since it was closed for renovations and recently reopened. Family friendly. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We met the new owner.Dedicated to bringing this place back to its former greatness!! Quiet park and has such potential. Pool will be OUTSTANDING when it is back in service. We will be back for that! Lovely small town Texas attitudes. Laid back country setting and good restaurants nearby. Lake needs a good amount of rain to fill up again, but until that happens, whats wrong with just watching a sunrise or sunset or just playing cards with the kids? We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in the past. We have relatives on Inks Lake just about 5 miles away, so we stayed here...Sites are grassy and not all level. Lake is way down away from shore line and you need a 4 wheeler to get to it. Mostly towables and 5th wheelers. Great family park, pool and play area. Deer grazing everywhere. Very nice park manager. Town, shopping, restaurants about 15-20 miles away. Quiet and very peaceful with great sunsets. Very quiet at night. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Clean park. Great pool area, though it got extremely full because the lake water is so low, people (ppl) were using the pool and hot tub area more. Downside to the pool is that a wheelchair cannot get inside of the gated area. Did not use the restroom facilities, so cannot comment on those. Management was super friendly. Not a paved park, which makes a difference to some. There are cabins by the lake for rental and a big pavilion area. We camped at Big Chief RV Resort in a Motorhome.
