Small, but very nice park. Even at full price - $26 - it's still a good value. With our senior NP pass we only paid half - terrific value! The sites are large and have a nice patio with a covered picnic table. The lakefront sites do not have tress due to a flood in the past which distroyed many trees and closed this park for a time. The park was redone after all the damage, so everything is in really good shape. The lake is beautiful and if you have kayaks you can put in at the lakefront sites. There is a boat ramp in tbs park as well. And a fishing dock. No "beach" for swimming, but there are other parks on this lake that do. Very quiet here too. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Some of tbs best sites if you want to be close to the water are 14-17. There are more than that but not sure of the numbers.

First stay in a COE and it was a wonderful first experience! It was clean, spacious, quiet and beautiful! Parking pad was level, dumpsters nearby sites, great areas for walking. Hubby fished from a rock bar and a fishing pier and had a blast. Canyon Lake is blue & beautiful. Though they no longer have a contract with anyone to clean the bathrooms and it is done by volunteers, it was still cleaner than most we've been in. And the showers were spacious. Staff was wonderful. We will be back! We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park in very rural area - need to travel for groceries or other necessities but to be expected with most COE parks. Sites are very large but rather difficult to level (reason for lower rating). Bathrooms/showers a bit rustic but very large and pretty clean. The park recently lost its cleaning services so volunteers are doing the best they can on limited basis. Surrounding area somewhat rundown but felt very safe at campground. Canyon lake is lovely. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Small, beautiful lakeside campground with large sites, covered picnic table, wood/charcoal grill, and firepit. No sewage but dump station onsite. Lake views from every site, friendly staff, maximum 14 day stay, most guests were weekenders, quiet, near-level concrete pads, huge sites with concrete and pea gravel patios and expanse of grassy areas, large concrete pad with ample parking for 2 vehicles. Overall rating would have been 10 if it had sewage but understand its proximity to the lake restricts that. We stayed 2 weeks, twice, February, 2017, and October, 2016. Enjoyed our stay and will be back. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

There are 30 water and electric sites at this campground. The sites are back-in, paved, big rig friendly and mostly level. There is a fire ring, nice covered picnic table and BBQ grill at each site. All have a view of the lake. There are very few amenities, no camp store, no pier, no pool, no playground, no lake swimming area that I could see. If you have a boat, there is a launch. The campground is quiet; there were deer roaming in the distance and birdwatching opportunities. There is a food market and a few restaurants in town within a few miles. Some of the sites are first come first serve, they filled up over the weekend. We had a pleasant stay here. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

All pretty new as it had to be rebuilt from floods. Many good level spots but I think next time I will try to get spot 15. Park hosts are very good and knowledgeable about surroundings. Again infrastructure is very good. There is goos spacing between sites that and asphalt. There is some shade and a fire ring, patio and picnic table at the sites. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is everything you want to do within 35 miles of the park. Every neat little city that you can think of and it is in the middle of the fastest growing area of Texas. Gennaro's Trattoria is the finest eating place you will find anywhere. Everything about Gennaro's is top flite. Another good spot is The Reel just a few miles away on hwy 46.

part of camp ground closed due to previous flooding. Campsites nice and decently spaced. You have about a 50% chance of getting a fairly level pad. Some had level part only about 10 feet in length, the rest sloping. Good reception for Verizon and about 10 TV channels via antenna. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.

Nice Corps park, RV sites totally new, level laterally but not necessarily level on the backin. Each site has a metal picnic table and metal roof. Lots of space between sites. Only some sites have shade. Look closely at Recreation.gov when selecting. Cranes Mill Park is primarily a meadow with a few forested pockets. There are several fishing points, and a boatramp, but it was closed due to the drought and low water levels. I am not so sure you could call the campsites "waterfront" because of the height of grass and cacti and distance from the weedy shoreline. Roadways in the park were great for short bicycle rides. Outside the park, the road was hilly, narrow. Neighborhood outside the gate appeared to be downscale, but guard gate apparently limits entry by those who might otherwise cruise through. Windy, and that made even summer evenings pleasant. The park has some not so stellar design problems. If the campground loop circulated counterclockwise, back in sites would have allowed the awning side of campers to face the water. The design on the ground causes service sides to face water. The dump station is on an elevated curb platform, so if the RV dump valves are low, you will need to make water run uphill and into a non standard hole. Frustrating. Finally, the exit out of the RV area has a turn with a culvert very close to the turning radius. Markers warn drivers, apparently a few drivers have cut their campers into the ditch. Nevertheless, we would definitely camp here again. Just bring your sunscreen! We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice with some beautiful sunsets across the Lake. All office personnel nice. COE grounds contractors could do a better job. One shower non-op in the men's restroom. Men and women showers don't drain well due to construction of the facilities. Rates will increase Apr 1st. $12 with Golden Age Pass. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.

Very nice Corps park. Rate is with "Geezer" card. Good hiking and biking. Verizon cell works good and satellite should be available in most sites. Some trees. Would rate higher if it had sewer. Good dump station. Sites paved and sort of level. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed here almost 7 weeks as they do allow extended stay if the campground is not full. The $12 reflects the cost with the Senior Pass for National Parks. We loved it here and would have stayed longer, but it was an unusually cold this time of year so we chose to leave early and head farther south into Texas. We had site #30 and the deer walked through every morning and evening and never get tired of seeing them. Park is very quiet and has lovely views of the lake. Sites are large, paved, and nice metal picnic table with sun shelter. We were told this park was upgraded in 2010. We camped at Cranes Mill Park COE in a Motorhome.
