We only planned to stay here a couple of days, we liked it so much we stayed a week. It's a great place to make a base camp and take day trips to see the surrounding area! They recently got a new contractor to keep the rest rooms and showers clean, they did a great job. Staff and camp hosts were friendly and helpful and the grounds were clean. Nice boat ramp. Be aware that it can get a little windy around the lake, so don't leave your awning out! We woke up every morning anxious to see what wildlife was in and around our campsite. Counted 17 deer one morning and not unusual to have deer visit throughout the day. Had several jack rabbits, raccoons and armadillos visit. We had no trouble getting Directv from our site (#4) got OTA stations in Austin and San Antonio for local news and weather , no wi-fi, but had good 4G cell service. Only about half the campsites are available, due to flooding of bath houses and other amenities in 2015, but they're hoping to have the rest of the campground open for the July 4th 2017 holiday. If I ever make it back to Texas Hill Country, I will for sure visit Potters Creek again! We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

It's about 8 miles to get gas and groceries (Brookshire Brothers), several places for a quick bite to eat and a Dollar General store, Walmart Superstore in Spring Branch about 20 miles away.

Stayed here for 6 nights, no reservations accepted, only 1 loop open and cannot even walk around the other loops. Wasn't much to do in the one small loop that was open. Sites are paved but not level. Our right side was almost off the ground, utilities worked well, good satellite openings, no shade at our site. Staff did not seem friendly. Evidently restroom cleaning person quit and they have a sign saying they were being cleaned by volunteers. We did not use the restrooms but our friends did and said they were nice. We wanted to grab a geocache that was on a hill just past one of he "closed gates" but were told if we went up there we'd be asked to leave. Good thing we asked first! Lots of geese and deer in the park. Very pretty sunsets. Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a little restaurant called Italian Gardens in the town just east of the campground that was excellent! Also the Brookline Brothers grocery store was excellent for groceries.

This is a nice, quiet, clean basic campsite located conveniently (20 miles) from towns such as Gruene, New Braunfels, and Wimberly. Only loop one is open, with no reservations allowed. Our campsite #15 had campers directly in back with no vegetation between campsites. There are a few large oak trees and big open spaces viewing other campers, but each site was fairly large with nice covered picnic tables and paved pads. Mostly quiet, older campers which is fine by me! We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

We visited some friends that were camping. The gate attendant was very nice and guided us to where our friends were camping at. The site looked well maintained . Its pretty basic but it is ideal for camping for sure. Easy lake access and boat ramp access. We certainly had a better time here than at the campground we were staying at. Overall Rating:

Have been to Potters Creek many times and the part is always in good order. Problem is that floods in the past 2 years have wiped Potters Creek out and they are talking about it being another year before they are back in full operation. At the time they have 26 sites open to walk ins only. Cranes Mill is a good alternative for good or until the park is reopened full speed. Everything was good in this park before the floods and I imagine will be just as good or better in the future. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Many, many good small towns to venture off to with much to do in every one. If you want to go tubing it is the tubing Capital of Texas. Even Willie Nelson and many other country stars perform just a few miles from the park on a regular basis. Many eating places on hwy 306 that leads to the park as well as on Potters Creek Road. This area is listed as one of the fastest growing areas of Texas. I would love to live in this area myself.

This is a very lovely COE park that was made more enjoyable by the 50% discount from our Senior Lifetime National Parks Pass. Our site was very level with a covered picnic table and fire ring. As with most COE campgrounds, only water and electricity was available. The dump station was very convenient located. The restrooms were nice and the showers were large with great water pressure; however, the contractors did not clean them very well when we were there. The rest of the park was very well maintained. The lake was very low when we were there in November 2014 for a week. We stayed in the upper area with a lot of shade and wildlife; the deer literally walked up to the units next to the fence. We will definitely go back again. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful COE park, especially when getting 50% off with National Parks Senior Pass. Paved roads and concrete pads. The blind

back-in sites back up to the Canyon Lake 150' away so you could hear some boat traffic. VERY large sites with covered picnic tables. We chose an open site (99) allowing the rooftop dish easy access, the 50a utilities worked well (no sewer so used the dump station), Verizon hotspot worked well, rooftop TV antenna worked well also. We'll remember this CG the next time in this area. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was very level. All sites seemed to be paved. Water and electricity was available but sewage was not available at the campsite. A dump station is located near the exit. The bathrooms were very clean with very large shower rooms. We did encounter one person at the gate who was fairly rude but every other person working there was wonderful. The lake is low so our lakefront #92 had a view of the lake but a nice walk to reach it! The sites along the lake seemed to be long enough for any size RV. We stayed over a weekend so there was some noise from others but nothing too loud or too late. Overall, I was very happy with our stay here. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

First time I stayed at a COE camp - very nice. I was backed up to a lake. Saw deer every day. Campsites are spacious. Neighbors are not too far away. There are shaded spots, but since I was near the lake, there weren't any trees. Although, the picnic benches all have roofs on them. One shower stall measured 6' x 10'! The other was smaller. Water/electric hookup only, but dump station available. 14 day stay only. I stayed a week because it was so nice. Boat ramp on site. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great COE campground with good sites. The price is with a senior pass. About half of the sites have full sun, the others are surrounded by trees. A few sites are not accessible to rigs as tall as ours (13'6"). The restrooms are old but they were clean. There is lots of roads to walk or bike. We would stay here again. Very relaxing at Canyon Lake. Sites are large and nicely spaced. The sites closer to the lake are in an open area with no trees available for shade. There are sites in the area that has some shade but most do not. Can't imagine camping in the summer heat. Canyon Lake located mid way between Austin and San Antonio. Would be a good base for visiting either area except for the traffic on highway. Visited Fredricksburg one day - a nice place to spend a few hours walking through town. Rate reflects Federal Senior Pass. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed here, along with friends who stayed in a nearby spot. We found the gate attendants to be friendly and helpful in locating a grocery store. We enjoyed the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and the location is pretty. We thought it was very family- and pet-friendly. I read reviews about the bathrooms not being clean, but we did not find that to be the case. We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful park with lots of lake views. The water and electric hook-ups are good. Stay Sunday through Thursday if you can as Friday and Saturday are absolutely packed with lots of "party" atmosphere, especially in the lower loop. Roads are paved and sites are stone/gravel with plenty of room. Each site has a covered picnic table, grill, & fireplace. If the sites had sewer, this park would be a 10. Our rate reflects the Federal Senior Pass discount. We loved it and would return. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is our favorite place to stay when visiting the San Antonio area - about an hour to downtown San Antonio. We prefer the sites on the upper loop 67-84 as there is ample shade there and the trees are trimmed for big rig access. We had good Verizon access and was able to get the satellite from the roof antenna in site 67 - a tripod could get it in most other sites. Our rate reflects the "geezer" pass. We stayed here two weeks and really enjoyed it. The place really "comes alive" during the weekends form locals, but quiets down during the weekdays. If it had sewer hookups and trees for shade, would be a definite 10 (can't have everything!). The sites are spaced out from each other and laid out nicely. Plenty of room for most any rig. Lots of spaces. 14 day limit strictly enforced so no long term visitors. We will be back, after going somewhere else for 14 days! Great views of the lake and awesome sunsets over the lakefront. Nice fire pits and BBQ smokers. Great picnic tables. Not too much for the kids to play on, but not applicable for us. We camped at Potters Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.
