We have been here on and off for a number of years. The park had declined somewhat over the years. A new manager came in last year and seems bent on really fixing the park up. She has greatly improved the Wi-Fi, she has painted things up, made repairs, improved the landscaping and done a lot of improvements to the park. We are full timers, who are in transitioning to (?) something else. It doesn't take much to make us happy, but she, the new manager, seems to be trying hard. I have seen quite a bit of improvement over the last six months. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stay 3 nights, the Park was clean and maintained. We had no problem with the power or water. There were about 50% of permanent campers but they were in the back. Not a lot of shade. The sites were gravel and level. The staff was very helpful. There was some road noise but not too bad. Just be careful of the speed bumps coming in to the Park. We would come back. It was close to the canyon and close to some good restaurants in the town of Canyon. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Web site and park reviews are extremely misleading. Office very helpful, however the park is rough and run down, with over half of the park with permanents. Shared power pedestal , one 30amp and 50amp. We were going to stay in the state park, but we thought they had no cell service. Found out too late there was a signal in mesquite loop. We would not stay here again. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

They seem to automatically give everybody the "discounted" rate of $25. We had made a spur of the moment decision to visit Palo Duro Canyon. Found the campgrounds in the park full so backtracked here. This is a nice, clean, convenient place to park for a few days. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park, close to Palo Duro State Park. We camped here because we had limited time and didn't want to drive our RV into the park (which is well worth visiting). Pleasant park with adequate sites. Many permanent residents, but this was not a problem. Good wi-fi and cell service. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

My second stay here for business in Canyon. The only choice close to town. There are numerous other parks in Amarillo, approx. 15 miles away. The check-in was easy and friendly. They trust you, no credit card number needed to make a reservation over the phone. The site was long and level, utilities easily accessible. There was a power interruption one night as a transformer blew, but not the park's fault. They called the power company promptly and was fixed within the hour. Wi-Fi was generally good albeit slow at peak times. There are a number of apparent permanent residents but their places were kept reasonably clean and tidy. No cable TV provided but not really needed as you are close enough to Amarillo for several over the air stations. Also had clear view for satellite. Only real drawback is the traffic noise as the park is next to busy interstate. Would stay again. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

The site we were in was very close to the trailer next to us. Our slide outs was nearly touching their slide outs. In order to hook up to utilities we had to venture in to the neighbor's space.

The internet connection was poor. As is the website for the park. When I opened the website the site automatically starting downloading stuff.

It is not a quiet park, lots of hardworking people living full time, coming and going as they must.

Electric, water, and sewer all functioned properly. The site was level, and pull through made for easy in and out. Laundry facility is convenient, and also functioned properly. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for 4 days for business in Canyon. Friendly, easy check in. Long, level, pull through with easily accessible, full hook-ups with 50 amp service. No cable, but clear view for satellite and 10 over the air stations (2 of which were Spanish language). Didn't check the restrooms, showers, or laundry, but they were close by. No amenities, such as pool, hot tub, or activities, but wasn't looking for nor needed them. Wi-Fi worked well. Small metal table provided at site. Sites are adequate width but if all were in use but would be close. There is traffic noise from close by interstate, but didn't bother at night as it was hot and a/c's were running. Not a destination park but fine for an overnight or few. Would return. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park is convenient to Palo Duro State Park about 10 miles away. Inside the state park is a winding steep road to bring your rig in. No cell service, TV, or internet. Those things are important to us. We had no problem with cell service. Antenna TV worked great and park supplied wifi worked great. We were also close to town to get supplies we needed. Staff was always helpful. Make sure to go to the play "Texas". It's in the state park and you can get your tickets online. Also search for a coupon online and get the code, then you can save 15% on tickets. Spend the little extra and get center section row G or higher.

Not a vacation destination, but a perfectly adequate overnight stop or a headquarters to explore the Palo Duro State Park. The north end is permanent trailers, the overnighters stay in the south end. Yes, it's near the freeway, but what RV park isn't? Freeway noise was not bothersome, but it was cool and our windows were closed. Site was level and long enough for the biggest RV not to unhook the toad. Park was clean, staff friendly. Price quoted is with Good Sam discount. We'd overnight there again. The Park is renovating the only women's room and therefore the single bathroom had to be shared by both men and women with a card outside describing which gender was currently using the facility. Apparently on Sunday nobody is home since there was no toilet paper in one of the two stalls in the only bathroom. This is a big park so you ended up having to wait to use the facility.

The site itself was level. The hookups worked well. The RV Park is close to Canyon TX with restaurants and grocery stores nearby. There are a number of newly planted trees and some existing mature trees. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a private park right off I-27, very convenient for visiting Palo Duro Canyon but not in the state park. If it weren't for the convenience and not wanting to take our big 5th wheel down the steep road into the canyon we wouldn't have been there. Office person was very nice but the whole place is a dump. Overgrown with weeds, permanent rigs in varying states of decay, spaces too close together, area further down the street looked like a slum. It looked so bad we were really nervous about staying there but no one bothered us during our two days there. Would absolutely not stay again, but we'll never go to Palo Duro Canyon again either. Once was enough. Right after going to the major national parks out west it was definitely underwhelming. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Nice campground but too many detractors for us to return. First the cost: $35 was a little high but with the $5 entry fee - $40 was too much. No Wi-Fi or telephone service so we had to go into town which was 13 miles away to connect. Our satellite worked fine for TV. The steep 10% grade into the campsite was no problem for our 40' motorhome. The campsite itself was nice with water and electric. The dump station nearby was also very nice. Our hike into one of the many trails was excellent as was the scenery. Loved the howls of the coyotes at night and the wild turkeys and birds. And the Visitor Center was very good with displays and a Civilian Conservation Corps area which I enjoyed. It was a very beautiful place but we will not return to camp but find a different campground. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.

While the staff, on the phone and in person, were very pleasant and helpful, here's a park where not much money has been spent on beautification and upkeep over the years. They must be racking in the dough however, with almost a full house when we were there. We were told that some spaces have a small "lawn" area in front of it, really just dirt and dry grass, but they sure cram the rigs in. You won't have much privacy. We went with the idea of maybe staying a few days, but left the first morning. Also, very noisy with the freeway next door and I wore ear plugs for this one. Very level sites, but why shouldn't they be, looks like you are in a former farm field or something. We didn't use the restrooms and the trash bins were across the street from the park. The town was easily accessed about 3 miles down the road, and I'm told the State Park is about 10 miles the other way. We didn't camp at the State park because we had heard about the very steep road down to the campsites there. Not sure exactly what we paid but believe it to be $29. Don't hold us to it. Canyon is the town where the Southern Transcon railroad line runs through, one of the busiest railroads in the nation with almost 100 trains a day, however, this park is on the other end of town and you won't find the trains and whistles to be that much of a factor. We camped at Palo Duro RV Park in a Motorhome.
