Staff very friendly. Offered to take DW and me to/from Golf course. Great place. Only improvement required is Fishing Hole, in desperate need of TLC. If improved, next time will get a "10". We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

Very well maintained park. The pads were very level with a nice patio furnished with "real" patio table and 2 chairs. The covered pavilion and pool area had very nice comfy furniture as well. Pool was sparkling and area around it kept very clean. The only reason it gets a 9 is there is no shade. From May through September you have to have some shade in central Texas. The onsite restaurant is very good and reasonable priced too. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park is only several years old and is all new construction so it is in great shape and nicely laid out. Check-in process was smooth and the staff was very helpful with things to do in the area. RV pull-thru sites are about 100' long, all concrete pad with a patio and 45' wide. While the park is built on a hill, the landing area for your RV will be level and the parking spot ahead or behind your rig will slope up or down. There are plantings surrounding the utility area but no trees between sites so those with satellite have a clear view of the sky. There are no casita/park models mixed in with the RV sites. All utilities functioned well - 50A electric was solid, water pressure around 55psi with a regulator. WiFi was very good. Direct TV cable was so-so standard def and varied in clarity day by day. Over-the-air channel reception was very good with 50+ stations received. The pool area was beautifully designed but the infinity pool was not heated while we were there. The managers said a heater was expected within a week but hadn't arrived by the time we left. Hot tub was working well. The on-site restaurant, Julianna's, is well regarded and the menu looked great although we didn't eat there. Curiously, the restaurant was located and accessed off the pool deck so the diners view was of the pool patrons and the golf course in the background. There is a very nice covered gathering deck overlooking the golf course for the park residents to congregate but it wasn't used much because the park rules prohibit bringing your favorite beverages into the area. Aside from these minor things, the park is clean and well run, the staff is great and we will come back again. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Castroville, "the little Alsace of Texas", prominently features it's Alsatian heritage in its architecture, history and shops. The story of Henri Castro and the city's founding is fascinating. Definitely visit the Steinbach House for a great introduction to the culture and Alsatian construction. Among the many places to see, check out Haby's Alsatian Bakery, the Castroville Pottery Shop and the Castroville Cafe for eats.

Very nice park. One of the nice things is how level it is. Nice paved pull thru with grassy area on each side and those parked on either side are offset so neighbor's not right in your face. Each site has (or is supposed to have) a small table & 2 chairs. How ever, some tops of tables we're broken. Our site didn't have table so when our neighbor left we brought theirs over. There's a small fitness room & a room with a ping pong table in it but there's only access during front desk hours. Same with book or video exchange, buying ice cream bars or pop. However, I will say you can get ice cream & other desserts at the restaurant, which also has good food. Bathrooms/ showers are as others have reported. Like a locker room set up with only an open place to change. I'm guessing most used the handicapped room as I did. It's a nice big room with it's own toilet and shower. But the shower seems quite small. It does have a pull down seat, which may be the only requirement but there is no hand bar and I don't see how anyone in a wheelchair could get in very easily. Also, there is no way to not get water all over! The floor slants toward toilet and at times I saw 1/2" of water draining that way. Mgmt even puts towels in there for you to soak up the water. I always have my own bathmat and water still drained around it. And please, put up a couple of extra hooks and a shelf for heaven's sake. That being said, it's a very nice and quiet park, golf course is nice and very reasonable, and I would stay here again. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

The regional park is nice and has nice trails to walk. There's a store called Taste Elevated in town worth going in. They had wine tasting and they make some of their own products. Very friendly. Stop by the visitors center as well!

Pros: Location - Lovely park in a quiet area. Friendly visitors & staff, 90% retirees who are staying for a month or more. Wide streets with two rows of long, level pull-through sites - definitely big rig friendly. All concrete including large patio. 20 feet between sites. Hiking trail. Nice views of golf course. Cons: Location - Not a lot to do in the area if you aren't a golfer. Half hour drive to get to San Antonio, 45+ mins. to get to north side. Pool is not heated. Off-leash dog enclosure is small and not very accessible. NOTE - Price is based on $640 for a monthly stay. Electricity is metered & separate charge. $15 pet fee. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Small Lowe's grocery 5 minutes away. 15 minute drive to Hondo for larger HEB grocery. It's not posted, but apparently there's a BYOB happy hour in the pavilion on Tues./Thurs. Country music & dancing twice a month at local gun club.

This is our first time visiting the Park. We were impressed with the long and level concrete sites, full concrete streets and patios. Sites are reasonably spacious and utilities are placed conveniently away from slideouts. I would concur with the shower comment - no dressing area. The only private shower is in the handicap room with a commode. The Park was almost full so reservations would be highly recommended. The town of Castroville is very quaint. We will return. Stayed here in 42 foot 5th wheel for the month. Rate includes electric costs as well at $0.14/kwh. This park is as nice as when we last stayed here in 2014. The pull thru concrete pads are smooth, wide and well maintained. The utilities pole is easy to get to and has everything nearby. The quality of the cable TV could be improved (still grainy), however the wifi was greatly improved compared to 2 years ago. The staff is as friendly as ever and the facilities are 1st rate. Highly recommend! We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is ~30 miles from San Antonio in the small, but growing town of Castroville. However, easy access to Rt 90 into SA and the town of Hondo is ~13 miles west (closest WalMart) and HEB. Nice park to stay in for quiet and relaxation away from the big city.

This is a wonderful resort located in a rural setting next to a great golf course. I would call this a true "resort" type facility. The grounds were kept perfectly and the pool/pavilion area was beautiful. We've played golf for three consecutive days and you can't beat the rates with the resort discount. The on-site managers are doing an excellent job of managing this resort. Too bad the restaurant closed recently, but I can understand the lack of business due to the rural location. The nearby town of Castroville is very interesting and has some great history. Walmart and HEB stores are about a 20 minute drive away in Hondo, TX. I bet this place would be hard to get into during the winter months. I will be back. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Spacious, well manicured RV resort. Very quiet. Mostly adults, wonderful pool and hot tub area that really helps when camping in 100 degree temps. Only negative was that we had a west oriented site that made sitting out in the afternoon/evening impossible. Wish they had a fenced dog run as well, instead of a dog trail. All that aside, we will be back in the fall because of the spaciousness and peacefulness. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is billed as a resort with sites with nice casitas available for $100.00 a night, overlooking their golf course. We had a pull-through that was adequate for my 40' motor home and tow car. The roads and sites are all concrete. The cable and WiFi were acceptable. The hookups were in a mulch bed that was mud when it rained and for some reason the water faucet was installed pointing straight up. There is a very nice pool, piped it music and a very nice covered pavilion for rallies.

The only drawback to the "resort" is that there are about 25% of the sites occupied by permanent tenants with travel trailers and 5th wheels complete with their families. That said, the park is kept neat and clean and everyone I met was helpful and polite including the kids. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park to the west of San Antonio, just wish it were a bit closer to town. Very nice roomy sites on large concrete pads, lounge chairs and table provided. Very nice laundry facility. Only con is that shower could use a private space for towel and clothes -- shower opens up right onto the open rest room, had to leave toilet articles, etc. on sink counter. Unusual to see a fitness room which we also appreciated. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

Best facility we have stayed at, worst run. Ownership has to learn what a Resort is and how the hospitality business works. Maintenance is nonexistent, landscaping is quickly deteriorating from the original installation. The pieces are there but this place has a long way to go. Get the Owner who was the manager to come back.

Get some shade and maintain what you have. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Wow. This is an amazing RV park. Huge sights that are tiered so you look over the next row and at a view of the golf course. Restaurant and lounge o sight with golf course and excellent pool. Work out area with a treadmill. Oh how I have missed mine. Found it by typing "RV parks" on Google map. Was willing to pay the $40.00 per night then I found on Passport America's new park section that it was listed. Pure accident. Very nice trails up to a small hill with a huge fenced pet area. Of the main highway so it is so quiet. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here to visit San Antonio and it's sights but found that the nearby area of Castroville was equally interesting. Lots of history. Antique stores galore. Just had fun driving the back roads trying not to get lost and looking at ranches. Did spend a few days in San Antonio also.
