The park looks abandoned. The marina is closed and many sites are not in use. The bathrooms have spider webs and insects crawling around. Within 8 hrs of arrival, I had my motorhome invaded by ants which I understand are a problem in the park and I was never told when I checked in. I left early the next morning. This park should be shut down until its properly maintained and exterminated. Close to shopping area and retaurants and entrance and road to park was being worked on and the entrance appears quite nice ut once you are inside , the park needs alot of work. I will not return. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Disappointing at best. Having lived in the area when park and lake opened originally, it has not aged well. Marina closed for good due to flood damage. Sites just adequate at best. People next to me had 4 vehicles plus camper at their site. One truck towing boat. No parking for more than one car so they parked on side of road, partially blocking it. Rangers or host never said or did anything. While they do have ant problem, never saw any at my site, 163. Maybe back out of necessity, but not out of desire. Love Texas state parks, just not this one. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed for a couple of days. The area was not bad, the park was clean, and the trails were taken care of. Really enjoyed the Penn Farm area, and did not do any fishing. Swimming was closed, and one of the larger camping grounds was closed. There is an Ant problem, and we actually went to Walmart (only 8 min away) to buy more ant stuff just to make sure we did not get infested. Will I be going back, probably not. Sites were OK, nothing to get excited about, they did have 50 amps and sewer. But, I was really disappointed watching very large campers trying to get into tiny spots because a pop up camper, or a tent took a large parking space. There were entire areas with 30 amps for pop ups and even tent camping. Bring Ant poison with you, I knew they had a problem but did not know how bad it was until we got there. We had to put it all the way around just to make sure they did not crawl into the trailer or truck. It wasn't fun. The picnicking areas are not always near the parking spots, at least ours was not and there was not enough room to have a table or sitting area for dinners out side. BTW 209 & 208 are perfect if you have two families who are camping together, our picnic tables were very close to the point we might as well have eaten together. Not what you are looking for when you want to get away. Also, you could hear more of the highway traffic when you sat outside than you did crickets. Just wasn't super impressed with the experience, the grounds, or the amenities. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites 220, 221 and 223 were very shady, especially from the late afternoon sun. The people at the front gate were extremely friendly and helpful. And the restrooms near us were very clean. When we first arrived we noticed that the grass was very high; I don't know if it was overgrown, or they were letting it grow for the wildflowers. We had no problems with ants at our campsite. The campsites are a little close to the next campsite, but still OK. Most of the RV campsites along the lake were closed because of flooding several months back, and there was some construction at the entrance. We were disappointed that some of the hiking trails were closed. But all in all, it was very nice, and we will return someday. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed two nights at this park in January 2017 in a 40' fifth wheel. The lady at the gate gave us a pull thru site with a view of the lake. Site was not that level, but we managed. Very quiet park and appeared clean. Pretty good for a State Park. Was easy to navigate all the roads. All roads and our site was paved. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very pretty state park, and not a bad price for the area, except that they charge a day use fee on top of your campsite. I believe the total for the two of us and the site was $35.00. A lot of the sites are very short with hook ups in the rear, we were able to switch to a different site than assigned and got one with hook ups in the center. The bathrooms weren't bad but could use a bit more frequent cleaning as there were quite a few bugs inside. Spider webs in the sinks makes me think it was more than a day or two between cleanings. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Dated park with several short spaces. Only half of the sites are available due to the 2015 flooding. Roads in the camping areas that are open are in need of repair. Texas needs to spend some money on it's state parks. The farm is interesting and fun to walk through. Good cell service (AT&T) since it is basically in town. The biggest drawback was thousands of ants. Wound up in the RV and all over my truck. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Whether you're here to visit DFW area or just camp out, very nice park and good bang for the buck. Our spot was mostly level and we could get satellite signal but there would be spots you can't unless you have remote dish to move around. Good signal for phone. Local TV signal is best anywhere considering all the TV towers are within 3 miles. Maybe State of Texas Parks will consider internet in the future. Park is well maintained and we had view of Joe Pool Lake. Marina and road to Marina was closed. Heavy rains caused flooding this year. They could use more signs giving directions to sites. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You're about 30 minutes to downtown Dallas. 20 minutes to Cowboys, Rangers, Six Flags in Arlington. Many good restaurants nearby in Cedar Hill on 67 and also along I-20 in Grand Prairie and Arlington. Avoid rush hour if possible, though. 67 and 20 can be a problem in the AM and PM.

We stayed 3 nights. Sites are back ins and close. But they are cut out of trees. So little disturbances from neighbor. Spring 2016 much is closed due to flooding. Very nice facility. Many sites are short so add a couple feet to your unit for reservation. Many over the air local channels. Very nice park. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an adequate park. Nothing great, nothing terrible. It is "well-worn" with roads that are quite bumpy and sites that have a lot of slope front to back. Bathrooms were dated but fairly clean. Pay attention to the park map: for sites closer to FM1382, you can definitely hear the constant road noise. It's not awful, but it is constantly there. We had good cell service but no wifi; many, many channels by OTA antenna.

Cedar Hill shopping, restaurants, etc. are 10 mins away. Arlington is 15-20 mins away. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We couldn't get in to the Eagle Ford loop which I heard was re paved. That loop was closed because of all the rain and flooding they had around Dallas this year. The loop we did get in, Lakeview Camping Area, was pretty well beat up. The asphalt road is falling apart as well as the campsites. The campsites are not very level and for longer rigs you have to make sure you get a site deep enough because most of the sites are pretty short. The bathrooms and shower area were not clean and need to be remodeled. This campground looks like it has been here many years and well used. It is very convient to visit Dallas and shopping close by in Cedar Hill, TX. Verizon cell phone and wifi worked good. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We found a laundromat about 7 miles away in Grand Prairie, TX. The place was very clean with plenty of commercial washers and dryers. This place was very well maintained and I didn't see one machine out of order. Super Wash Center, 844 S. Carrier Parkway, 469-563-2674

Our rate was for W/E only. So far, I'm not getting a good impression of TX state parks, and coming to Dallas I had hoped this would be an exception. The roads and parking pads are very beat up and crumbling apart. There are plenty of sites to look through, but most of them seem to have only been built for parking cars to camp in tents. Our site in Coyote Point #313 was pretty good, except we had a tent neighbor for the entire week-long stay who we learned through his constant fights with his girlfriend that he lives in his tent with her and their toddler. Not sure how they pull that off with a 14-max stay. I also noticed another young adult who would park his car in random parking spot and stay there for hours, possibly another homeless kid. The bathrooms are the worst I've come across in my 7 full-timing months of RVing. They were not clean - dead bugs littered the floors, large spiders making nests everywhere, and black-colored mold on the wooden ceiling. There are 2 shower stalls with curtains only, and the dressing area is shared and can't be locked for privacy. We do work online so Verizon coverage is important - we were able to get 2-3 bars of LTE data on our MiFi. I probably would have been happier here if we weren't given a site right next to someone else... it's my fault for not moving. But I still give an average rating due to the poor road conditions and bath houses need to be demolished and rebuilt. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The location of this park is what made it so convenient. Within 3 miles of the park is pretty much anything you need: Walmart, Sprouts Farmers Market, restaurants, an outdoor mall, Home Depot, auto mechanics, etc.

Nice state park. Good place to stay when visiting Dallas as others have mentioned. We had a good level site and were able to fit our 40' rig but there are a lot of very small sites and many un-level sites. No wifi but good verizon service. Many lake view sites with good spacing between sites. You can even see the city lights of Cedar Hill at night. We would stay here again when coming through Dallas. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Motorhome.

Cedar Hill State Park is gigantic urban park. 300+ sites. Expect road noise from nearby highway. Higher site and entrance fees than more rural Texas State Parks. We were in full hookup loop with concrete pads. We were in #149 which was very private. Some sites have good lake views. We camped at Cedar Hill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
