Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We had a wonderful week at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park. We stayed in spot #2 right near the entrance. It was a pull-through spot that was easy to get in and out of. The water, sewer and electric connections are at the rear of the site so make sure you have pretty long hoses. We had to connect two together to reach. The sites were pretty level and each site has a picnic table and a grill. It appeared that the front of the park and the front part around the lake were people traveling through the area. The very back appeared to be long-term stays. The location was perfect - close enough that we could walk to the beach in the afternoon. Also only a short drive (plus ferry) to Galveston. We used Passport America for the Mon-Thurs of our week and paid regular price for Sun and Fri nights. Then on Saturday, we drove our RV down and parked right on the beach and spent one night. That was great (even though humid.) Our Verizon and T-mobile signals were great at this park so we were able to get plenty of online work done when we weren't at the beach. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pleasant park but for the highway noise if you are in one of the pull throughs right next to the highway. If you are parked towards the back in the back ins you might avoid that. Of course, being on the highway made for no fuss access. The site was very easy to get to, level, utilities were easy to access and the wifi was good most of the time. The trash dumpster was left uncovered and attracted flies--you don't want a site near the dumpster. Beach is across the street and down a bit--easy walk. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mexican restaurant right across the street on way to beach. The beach was busy during my visit in November and sorry to say, covered with litter and motorized vehicles going back and forth. However, the gulf breezes were right there at the park, and it is a good layout for walking.

Gravel roads meant constant dust blowing, but most kept vehicles slow to prevent massive clouds. No trees, sites are close but room for slides, customer service was great. Stayed for four nights over July 4th weekend, so paid Holiday rate, but worth it for closeness of beach access. Never used $2.00 shower, but the bathroom trailer was kept very clean. When we reported breaker on campsite popping, owner showed up in less than 30 minutes and replaced it immediately and we had no more trouble keeping AC running all day. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice large RV resort. All new in 2009. Gravel roads with level and wide grass or gravel pads, no trees. Very quiet. All the sites are long and wide with FHU. 5 bars Verizon cell signal and 4G mobile hot spot, good satellite and tv antenna signal, no cable tv, free protected weak Wi-Fi. Clean laundry, restrooms and pay showers. Office staff very friendly and helpful. Park very clean. The PA sites are up front, pay a couple dollars extra and park in the back by the pond. We will stay there again. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hint; If coming from Galveston the free ferry is only a 20 minute ride, but the wait on weekends can be an well over an hour. They don't allow visible portable containers with gasoline on the ferry.

We stayed one week.. The spot was large, and area was very clean and kept up. The back area had a lot of permanent residents. Personal was friendly and helpful. Laundry room was dirty and needed a lot of work. 2 washers out of 6 were out of order, was told that they were getting new ones. Price was very reasonable 168.00 for a week. Great place right across the road from the beach. Management was very nice. The pond makes a beautiful place to watch the sun come up. They also allow crabbing so the kids had a great time with that. We stay here almost every summer from 1-3 months. The roads are dirt/gravel and can be rough, but wide and not hard to navigate. The sites are large. The constant ocean breeze keeps temperatures wonderful, but do be careful with your awning as winds can pick up quickly (we never left ours out when we left the park). We enjoyed our 2 day stay while visiting Galveston. This is a very large campground with long term residents who where very nice. There were a couple things that we didn't care for the mosquitoes was one and the other was the water pressure which was very low. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Motorhome.

Front of park is nicely maintained for view from road. Grass needed cut, ant mounds everywhere, zero trees/shade, pond on campground is full of seaweed / not good for fishing. No cable although there are connections still, they have not upgraded to satellite, low water pressure. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a week; the spaces are fairly roomy but there are tons of clover burs that will cling to your feet and your pet if you have one. The wi-fi is only available close to the office, cell service was good if you have your own wifi. There are a lot of workers there but the sites do not look too bad except for a couple. The staff if nice and helpful. It is very convenient to the beach and to the ferry but as we looked around there were a couple of nicer parks in the area. This is a PA park We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Motorhome.

Two nights was enough. The site is pretty with the pond, but there are no trees and there were many red ant nests that were supposed to be dealt with but weren't. The Wi-Fi did not work as promised. The bathroom/showers were in 2 raised trailers. And water accumulated on the shower floors, making it slippery and unsanitary. There was a $2.00 charge per shower. There was no lighting near these trailers at night. The required "beach pass" for $10., was said to be useful for Galveston county beaches as well as the local ones. The closest beach was filthy, with garbage cans overflowing and garbage littering the beach. The pass money was said to help keep the beaches clean, but this one certainly was not appealing. And we didn't find any county beaches in Galveston, it was either pay $8-$10., or park on the waterfront if you could find a spot. (We couldn't). The office person was very pleasant but 5 years after Ike, priorities like proper bathrooms and showers should have been built. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice park for a stopover, but contrary to its website, it does not have cable TV. It looks like it used to, but no longer. Also, the Wi-Fi only works if you are very near the office. Finally, and I found this to be very unusual, there was a charge to use the shower. I've paid a quarter at a few municipal parks, but this park charges $2.00 per person, which I found to be excessive. That adds an additional $4.00 per couple, per day, just to shower. Other than that, it was neat, clean, and the lady in the office was very accommodating. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is built around a very large pond and is quite pleasant. We paid the Passport rate of $15, which is available only on weekdays. The top end of the pond is occupied by permanent campers and is rather junky. But there are numerous sites near the office that have full services and free WiFi. Unfortunately, the beach is hard to access. It's too far to walk and if you drive, you need a $10 annual parking permit. It rained hard when we stayed here and the mosquitoes came out of the unmowed clover around our site and tried to carry us away. But tonight we're facing the pond/lake and watching a beautiful sunset. There's a nine-hole golf course down the road that is struggling to survive after Hurricane Ike. The manager said we could play all day for $14, including the cart. We camped at Bolivar Peninsula RV Park in a Motorhome.
