Nice paved RV park with friendly staff. We were there in off season so the park did not have many people, but I can imagine that this place gets a bit crazy in the summer time. This park is the furthers away (about 25 minutes) from the museums and restaurants in Galveston. Sites are level and the grounds are very clean. Note that the beach access to the beach is not directly across the street. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are not any grocery stores near by, so provisioning ahead of time is recommended. The Oil and Gas museum is worth seeing. Train museum was average. There is a great candy/ice cream store on strand street.

The park was mostly empty at the end of April when we arrived, so we had lots of choice of sites and lots of space. The washrooms were the cleanest and nicest we have ever come across. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were lots of amenities, including a large pool, ping pong table, etc. The nearby beaches were mostly empty. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Galveston has a number of nice seafood restaurants. We went to Fish Tales and had excellent, reasonably-priced meals.

Overall Rating:

Galveston Island RV Resort is a great place to relax. It is 17 miles west of Galveston so there is little traffic or noise. There are nearby beach accesses, so morning coffee on the beach was a must. The island is quite narrow at this point and the pelicans go from the Gulf of Mexico to West Bay and back again. They can create some unique flying formations, fun to watch. The park has concrete interior roads and pads with grass in between, it is quite clean. There are few trees and it can be windy. The city of Galveston is a short drive and offers dining and shopping, and there is a nice local restaurant, Nate's West End, just up the road. The resort office is on the second level, as is just about everything on the island, and has a nice deck to view the surrounding area, with one of the margaritas they offer. The pull-through pads are raised in the middle, so a motorhome must be pretty much centered to avoid leveling issues. The WiFi had been upgraded and was good. This was my first visit to Galveston Island and it was a very pleasurable experience. I hope to return. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice and new RV park at the far west end of the island. The drive into the main area with the restaurants and other activities is 20-30 minutes. The park has nice flat sites that are concrete with a picnic table and BBQ. The park offers good and clean standard amenities with the bathrooms, showers and laundry. They have a nice pool and lazy river. The wifi worked decent most of the time. See the pictures and full reviews at our blog at thegilliamsisland. Great location for quiet nights and getting to the Gulf coast beach!! We stayed for 12 days and enjoyed many of Galveston's attractions. It's a 25 minute drive to Galveston historical areas but we didn't mind. The island has a nice little grocery store about 7 miles away with a good local restaurant, Nate's West End, next door. The main road has a shoulder wide enough to comfortably ride bikes or walk. We had a few issues with the RV management that were not deal breakers for us: the hot tub is not hot and when we inquired, the replies were that a guy was coming to look at it and it needed a part but nothing changed in the 12 days we were there. Our 2nd issue was that we were told we couldn't have particular sites when we checked in because of Mardi Gras and they would be filling up. The sites were still empty when we left however, our site was perfectly good for us. The final concerns regarded the pricing. Our reservation was for 1 week at $275. When we checked in we added days and the price for the added days bumped up to $79 per day because of Mardi Gras. However, when we added even more days it took our average price down to $41 per day so overall it was acceptable, they just need to be more transparent up front. One last note-beware that if you buy propane make sure your tank is empty because you get charged for a whole tank even if you only need a partial. Even with the above experiences, we would stay again. It's a nice park and the location is perfect for us. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The sites that we took in were the Space Center in Houston and the following in Galveston: Railroad Museum, ferry to Port Bolivar, the Strand, the Bishop's Palace, Pelican Island. Would highly recommend all of them as well as 2 restaurant's: Black Pearl and Fisherman's Wharf.

Nice park and management BUT WiFi borderline useless unless you up 4AM. AT&T you get half a bar. Your 18 plus miles to town. You have to walk up three stores to register. Finished with Galveston. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sounds like Galveston was not a good fit for you, hope you will give us a second chance if you are back in the area. The weather during your stay was EXTREMELY COLD! The last time it was 20 degrees was almost 25 years ago. Safe Travels.

Stayed here for the month of October. Very clean, well kept, campground. Great friendly staff. Would have loved to stay longer (like the entire winter) but had to move east for a family function. Would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Top notch RV park. We were impressed by the large sites, customer service, and most of all the lazy river and pool where our grandkids spent most of their time. This park is family friendly because their were plenty of kids for the grands to play with. Onsite food delivery was nice and convenient. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground. Concrete pads, roads easy to navigate. Beautiful pool, and beach across the street. The beach can be accessed by driving right onto the beach. People in office were very helpful. Wifi was terrible, couldn't even access emails. We were told we would have to pay extra to get Wifi which didn't seem very fair, it should have been included.Add the price of WIFI which is 40.00 per week to the price of the space. This makes this RV park more expensive than most parks on Galveston Island. We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Charles, thanks for taking the time to write a review. The beaches on our end of the island are the best and easy to get to, glad you enjoyed your stay. As for the WIFI, our basic service is free and the paid WIFI includes a piece of equipment and has a private router with speed comparable to what most people have at home. If you can't cut the cord and want to download video, play online games or need a fast connection for work this is a great option. You were located next to one of the wifi towers so not exactly sure what problems you were having but we are always here to help whenever we can. Hope to see you again soon.

Great park with all concrete roads and sites. Very long, wide sites with lots of space for tow vehicles. The beach is in walking distance just across the road. The staff was very helpful. That said, you are on the south end of the island and it is quite a distance to grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Galveston itself, is 22 miles away. So if you are planning to spend time in the city, this isn't for you. However, if you plan to pretty much stay at the park and enjoy the beach, pool, etc, it's great. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to write a review. We are located about 20 minutes from the business district, the traffic and the tourists........we like it that way :-). The beaches and the sunsets on our end of the island are the best. If your plans are to spend all of your time in town then we probably are not a fit. Most of our visitors plan a day in town and then a day or two at the beach or relaxing by the pool or in the lazy river. Thanks again and hope to see you soon.

This resort is fairly new and terrific. They are VERY clean and spots are wide. They have a variety of pull through and back in. They have volleyball, horseshoes, a swimming pool, ping pong, corn hole. Great access to the beach: either drive or, walk on, or Park right across the street. FHU's and free wifi and cable. Bathrooms and showers are locked with a code so don't forget it!

The hosts drive around in the evening, in a golf cart and were available. The pool and hot tub were clean and nice! Bring comfy towels as the lounge chairs are a bit hard. It was great! We will definitely be back here! We camped at Galveston Island RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
