Stayed one night in a travel trailer, in the lower loop, which has 50amp service and is closer to the lake. Small sites with few trees (as would be appropriate for a flood control lake) and some crumbling of concrete at most spots. Upper loop had shade and similarly small spots with deteriorating concrete. Quiet and clean park. Approximately 15min drive to most any services needed in Georgetown proper. For parents with children, there was no playground and no obvious swimming beach access. Fishing pier and boat dock was located away from the campground. Would certainly stay again, but $26/night (no discounts) for a limited services park reduced my value score. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Not for us, I'll explain: First off, the campground itself was nice. Just be careful looking at pictures...the sites are not close to the water at all, with only a few sites having a path down to the water about 200 yards away, down steep terrain. Here are the reasons YOU may want to go: - nice sites - great recreational lake - close to the city - friendly park staff. Why WE will never go back: - too close to neighborhoods...VERY close. This is not like camping in East Texas. If you like remote camping, this is not it. One of our neighbors would go to work each morning from the campsite. - campsites basically have no trees, so your view is your neighbor...tent campers in our case that set up partially on our site and wouldn't keep their two large dogs quiet. There were a lot of locals! They don't care about boundaries, and we found them to be generally unfriendly. Maybe because we are in their backyard? Not sure. They had lots of visitors in and out...road to walk dogs was always busy and a pain to use. Fishing was bad! No one I talked to caught a single thing. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here frequently, and the campground is showing a lack of maintenance and the result of heavy usage. Roads are falling apart near the edges. Pad is asphalt and eroding. Pad is very short and surprising not level DS to PS. The area around the site is dirt with all the grass worn away. Covered picnic table area is filthy. Lots of dog crap around the sites. Limited satellite availability due to the trees. We will stay here again due to its location near friends, but this place has gone downhill. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Jim Hogg in our 43' Class A motorhome with tow. We unhitched. Roads are somewhat tight & as some have mentioned crumbling at the edges. Our larger concern was the branches over the road. We need 13' clear & had to dodge some of the limbs. Reported this to Maintenance & were told they trim once per year. Park needs overall maintenance...restrooms are almost primitive, several sites were not adequate for a large motorhome. Nice views by the lake, but sites are short, in poor repair, or unlevel at these locations. Site 68 was mostly level, back in, nice covered picnic area. Nice to see the deer roaming around the park. My Verizon Jetpack flexed between 2-3 bars. Satellite was not a problem for us, however some sites have more trees. We would stay again due to friends in the area & we're able to avoid Austin traffic as Georgetown has most everything we would need. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Motorhome.

Our site had lots of shade which was important due to summer heat. Every site has a waist high grill, fire ring and a large wooden canopy over a picnic table. We had 30 amp, I am uncertain if they have 50 amp. We reserved online with ease and arrived and were in our site in a matter of minutes. Lots of deer nearby wandering around. The only negative is the boat ramp is extremely steep, be sure your parking brake is working ! We will be camping at Jim Hogg in the future. No where near the hassle as the nearby parks. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Tent Trailer.

Nice Park. The primary focus is parking your camper and going fishing on the lake. Maintenance upkeep was not good. Several bathrooms were not working. No conditioning of the air (AC or Heat) in the bathrooms. Don't plan on using the restroom facilities. We started out at Site 144 but the electrical was not working. Sites 78-148 were the upper loop and the better loop for shade. The Sites 1-77 where in the open with no shade but nice view of the lake. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Jim Hogg Park is a public Corps of Engineers facility on Lake Georgetown near Georgetown, Texas. The park has 142 RV or tent campsites (78 50A and 64 30A electric) with water. Central dump station and nice bathhouses. Some sites have great lake views and others have good shade. Nice hiking trails. Boat ramp and fishing docks available. Groceries and restaurants nearby. We stay here when we visit Austin, TX. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall, the park is very nice and I will camp here again. My only criticism is directed at the bathrooms/showers in the park. Some needed maintenance and updates. Hope some funds are budgeted that way in the future. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Tent Trailer.

Wife and I stayed three nights, Friday through Monday, with our two dogs. Large, attractive sites with covered picnic table and fire ring. Very quiet most of the time. We WILL be back. Only two issues; Neighbors came in Saturday (two adults, two kids) and pitched a tent. Then a van load of their friends with their kids arrived. Then a crew-cab pickup arrived with more friends and their kids. They did not observe the quiet hours. The dumpsters were overflowing when we arrived and were even more overflowing three days later when we left. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Motorhome.

Very large sites with good 50 amp electrical. Water pressure is very strong so use a reducer. 2 bars of 4g Verizon service and from our site we had no problem getting a DTV signal. Very quiet during the week but starting Friday night, not so much since this is a family getaway park. We will return. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Motorhome.

We stay here often close to the lake for its beautiful view and quietness of the park. Overall very level and clean, but grass needed cutting. Too many snakes not to keep it more shaved. Great place to just chillax! We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is a Corp of Engineers facility so we got a 50% discount. The Jim Hogg road is at a stop light, marked and easy to spot. Access is a nice paved road.

There is no sewer at the camping spot but there is a dumping station before the park exit. Bathroom and showers are a bit nasty.

The park host drives around every couple of hours. There are a few double spots for those with a boat. All sites have 20A and 30A service but not all have 50A, is not indicated on the website so you need to call. We preregistered on line, the formalities at the gate were fast. Nice trees and a 15'x15' covered pavilion with table and BBQ. Most site have lake-view, there is a boat ramp and fishing doc. No WiFi. No permanent residents seen. Lots of deer. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Jim Hogg Park is a COE park on Lake Georgetown just west of Georgetown, Texas. It has 145 sites with water and electric. The first loop (sites 79-148) are 30A and shaded. The second loop (sites 1-78) are 50A and limited shade, but has the best lake views and access. All sites have a nice, covered picnic table. Deer and birds abound. We were in site 39 which is a double site with double wide pad and outstanding view of lake with a private trail to lake. The lake is clear and excellent for swimming. We've stayed at Jim Hogg Park many times. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Very beautiful park with excellent campsites. Each site had a metal roofed cover for the picnic table and a pedestal BBQ grill and fire pit adjacent. Lots of room between sites. Did not use the bath house so cannot comment on cleanliness. It was a good long walk, however, to the facility. The park was very clean and the grass was mowed, overall a very pleasant area. The boat ramp was huge but very steep. The lake itself is beautiful, with clear, clean water. Definitely recommend for a pleasant outdoor stay. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Truck Camper.
