Sep 2018 - $40.00
Very small and primitive, there is no office and I only spoke to the owner/operator on the phone. There are no amenities and it is as close to boondocking as you can get with power, sewer and water. It is very close to the beach which is the best part about the park. The beach itself was littered with trash. We were warned of a wild hog running around in the mornings and evenings that they were going to try and trap or shoot. We paid for 3 days but ended up leaving after 1 day. If you are towing, be sure to enter the correct drive for the site that you are staying since they do not connect and it can be difficult to turn around. The picnic table was situated on an ant hill so be sure you watch where you step. - spage911
Jun 2017 - $32.00
Peaceful and on the beach. We stay in Site 4 or 5 each month. Winter months are great because it's so quiet. - Bahama
May 2016 - $30.00
Was just driving through the Bolivar Peninsula and saw the sign. Took a look and it had terrific access to the beach which I could see from my spot. Small but it had electric and sewer which worked fine. Friendly people, several regulars, in the park. Would stay again. - Jim Graves
Aug 2007 - $20.00
Things we liked about the park: Close to Ocean and Fishing pier. Things we didn't like: This place is dirty and old; to check in you go in the store and it is filled with smoke from all the smokers. Old campers with junk all over sites. Our site was full of weeds that had prickly things all over them. They definitely need to update in the worst way. - cattpearce
Feb 2007 - $25.00
Needs to clean up. Campers look like they had been there for a long time -- run down. - sandbeachsun
Apr 2018 - $30.00
Small privately owned park in High Island Texas. Full hookups, WiFi, long pull through site. Sites close together but overall atmosphere made the experience worth it. Here for famous spring bird migration and it didn't disappoint. Not much in way of services in town. Have to drive few miles for groceries. Will definitely return. Owner and other staff very helpful. - smitty12
Mar 2018 - $30.00
The sites were a bit tight but the park is clean. Used their laundry which was clean. Check-in very efficient and staff friendly. We just stayed the one night and would stay again. - Rhodie
Jan 2018 - $23.00
(Rate shown is based on a weekly stay). Tight but pretty little campground, well maintained and taken care of. The owner is very nice and friendly. The FHU worked well with strong electrical. Weakish but reliable AT&T signal and quite a few OTA channels (no cable TV available). Big rigs will fit but require careful maneuvering; the pads are just long enough and the turns are tight. On the other hand there is ample parking room for tow vehicles or toads. Lots of grassy areas and some landscaping made the park appealing to us. There is one convenience store and one post office in High Island and that's about it (Hurricane Ike pretty much devastated the town and it never recovered); a 15-minute ride due north to Winnie is required for most everything (groceries, propane, etc.). The area is a birder's paradise with four Audubon bird sanctuaries within High Island proper, and Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge just a short drive away. Even during our stay in January, birds (egrets, heron, geese, spoonbills, raptors, etc.) were plentiful near and around town. I'm told it's quite difficult to get a spot in the campground during March and April, at the height of the migration. - wolf59a
Mar 2017 - $35.00
A nice quaint clean RV park with fishing dock, large laundry room with a bathroom, and clean showers with new controls and nice shower heads. Just pick your spot and relax. Pet friendly and the Manager is Terrific! Great place to ride your bikes also. Did I mention they pick up the trash at the site and Internet service is excellent! - Thomas T
Feb 2017 - $32.00
Have been here since the last day of February. I am paying the monthly winter rate of $365.00 plus electric. This is one of the cleanest, nicest parks I have seen. All spots are back-in, no pull through. Spaces are comfortably wide, grassy area beside each with picnic table and trash receptacle. Large community room in center building with TV and lounging area, free large bag of crushed ice each day, showers on ground floor behind community room, laundry room and bathroom above community room. Trash pickup twice a week, bags provided for trashcan. Private fishing dock about 15 yards from north end of park. Flounder, red, crabs (large) etc are plentiful. Drive is very wide and the park is gated with security codes. Wifi works great. TV is free broadcast only, except in community room. Basketball goal, playground equipment and barbeques free to use, or bring your own. Owner is delightful, caring and generous. Staff is helpful and cheerful. Park is incredibly well maintained. I will be here for the winter months every year from now on. - lankylin
Aug 2012 - $32.00
I stayed here for 3 days in August 2012. Campground was very nice- had a picnic table and slab for each site. Full hookups, nicely landscaped. I booked ahead for a prime spot on the water and actually got to camp there. (I usually get bumped to smaller RV spots at other places because I have a small camper.) I felt safe there; fishing was great. The road out goes straight across the highway and down to the beach. Will stay here again. Did not have any problems. Management had high visibility around park. - BeccaLee
Apr 2012 - $32.00
No discounts were available. There are no toilets, showers, or laundry since hurricane Ike. Park is run down and maintenance is non-existent. Pot holes serve as speed bumps but fill up when it rains creating hazards of unknown depth. The doors have rusted and fallen off the electrical boxes. The dumpster sits open attracting scavengers because fish offal is put in it. Grassy sites w/ concrete pads are wide enough and a picnic table is attached. A concrete walkway make fishing around the perimeter possible but puts the people fishing right at the back of your RV. There's a boat launch. Security must be an issue since there is excessive lighting everywhere. We would not return. - L. Allen
May 2009 - $28.00
We've camped here often over the past 8 years. It has always been a great host and a clean site. Very friendly campers, few distractions, awesome views of the intercoastal waterway and watching tug boats go by. We visit at least four times per year and always stay at Crystal Canal. It is close enough to the beach, the store, gas station, liquor store, and even the ferry ride to Galveston is an adventure. - Cap
Oct 2018 - $34.00
This is a no frills park but the sites are large and have a picnic table and a grill. This is our 2nd time staying here and will use again because of location and quietness. Site surface is grass. Roads could use grading because of pot holes. Power is stable. Laundry is in good order. Management is friendly and helpful. - Ken56
May 2018 - $21.00
This is a basic park ..... i.e. no pool, playground, etc. Some sites back up to small pond. WiFi excellent. Back-in, grass sites, ours was nowhere near level. Pet owners beware -- grass loaded with stickers! Several permanents. Grounds need mowing and attention. Staff helpful. Good value if you can use Passport America. - retired rover
Apr 2018 - $25.00
This is a basic no frills RV park, but it's a decent deal with the PA rates. The sites are long and mostly level. The pull thru we had easily fit our 70' coach and trailer combination. The staff is very friendly and more than willing to help if needed. Electric worked properly, water and sewer connections were in good order as well. There is decent room between the spaces, no shared utilities. Right off the main drag and only 11 miles from the ferry too Gavleston. If what you are looking for is a decent basic place to stay while touring the area, it's a good place to stay. - rick r
May 2017 - $35.00
We use this RV park as our home base when we are not traveling. It is well maintained and has easy accesses to the beautiful beach on the Gulf of Mexico here on the Bolivar Peninsula. The owners are very nice and accommodating as well as are the other renters in the park. They have 2 washers, 2 dryers and a shower in the bath house, but, no toilets. There is also an outside shower to rinse all of the sand off of you before you get to your RV returning from the beach. Golf carts are very welcome in this park and this area to ride on the beach. - SLatch
Feb 2016 - $22.00
Rate reflects off-season rate of $150/week. Nice small park, with a couple of long-term residents. Off season was quiet. While we were there they upgraded the WiFi and it is blazingly fast (>30 mbps on speed test).
Nothing special, just a cheap place to stay. Close but not on the beach. A little road noise from Rt 87. No cable, but the Houston stations came in OTA. - jplante4
Apr 2015 - $22.00
This place is great if you want a quite place to stay within walking distance of the beach. Two open dog areas (not fenced) We stayed for a week for $150.00. It is small and quiet with nice neighbors. There is a bar and restaurant across the street that's really convenient. Good enough wifi, not the best and only 1 channel. It's an all day everyday crime channel (Forensic files, Unsolved Mysteries, Snapped) I thought it was pretty funny, my husband begged to differ ;) I would definitely stay here again. The only real downside, and no fault of the park, is the mosquitos are OUT OF CONTROL! They are monsters that get through your clothes, so just come prepared with a lot of OFF. Also, the management was proactive with it and sprayed weekly, so they do try to keep it at bay. - gypsy_tic
Oct 2018 - $25.00
WiFi was awesome!! Streamed movies since no cable but could watch it on my computer too.
Very clean! Concrete pads! Cool palapa to enjoy overlooking pond. NOT on highway so no noise. Right across from Ships Wheel bar off highway for marking where to turn. Really nice couple own and plan on expansion in January. We were in spot 18in back of park near pond. Small park and will be back. - DDDarcy
Aug 2018 - $17.00
Rate reflects monthly booking. Clean, well kept, and good proximity to necessities. Owners are obviously dedicated to their investment, saw them every day. Very easy to get along with, want their guests to be able to relax. Washer/dryer free, small library, a talapa by the canal for sitting and enjoying the sea breeze. About a block and a half from beachside, just right! Will definitely book here again. We are full-timers in a motorhome. - Bossgreen
May 2018 - $40.00
We will always use this park when we are in the area. It is quiet, owners are very helpful and are normally onsite. The owner told us if we got stuck in the sand at the beach, just call he would come pull us out. Laundry free ( how often do you see that?). Loved this place. - Stitchit47
May 2016 - $40.00
.This park has 68 sites not 37. Has a nice pool that many people were enjoying. This park are all back ins that give you a view of a small pond or a canal. Small kayaks are provided for youth to use. Has a playground. Sites are huge. Depth close to 150 feet and widths very wide so you are away from your neighbors sewer. Some sewer hook ups were at ground level some were high enough so one would have to lift the hose to drain.
Staff is very friendly almost to a fault. Cable and WiFi are advertised but when I asked about WiFi they smiled and said it was only available at office, WiFi provided has no password but the campground also has secured WiFi but you are not given a password. There are lights at each power pedestal which is a nice touch. My site and the one next to me had burnt out bulbs. I was told that it was O.K. to rob a bulb from another site. I could not get the bulb covers off to replace a bulb. There is some overhead lighting but it is dark at night. Cable-Advertised but we had continuing problems with it dropping off line to the point that it was useless. Cable was out for the entire row of 20 campers. The owner came over and replaced the cable connection on the post. We had cable for several hours. When I told them the cable was out again they smiled and said they would attend to it. No one showed up and when I again brought up the cable they said :"Maybe we should call the cable company." The site next to me was occupied by a permanent resident who was very nice. She said the cable had been out almost 2 weeks.
Park was well kept and clean. Permanent resident site were clean and tidy.
Rates are $40./night with NO discounts. They gave me the weekly rate of $235.00 as we were staying 6 nights. - Tigggerdad
Apr 2015 - $30.00
No cement pads. No cable tv. The WiFi did not work anywhere in the park--including the club house. It still was a really fun park. They were catching crabs in the tidal pools that circled the center of the park. There were kayaks to use. We were with in a quarter mile from the beach. There was a golf course near by. There was lots to do and many good places to eat We would definitely stay here again! Make sure you bring lots of mosquito repellent! We went through 2 full cans. - lundgka
Mar 2015 - $30.00
Actually we did not camp here, we were unfortunately down the street. We drove thru this camp site and was really impressed. Smooth roads, nicely cut grass, no ants, satellite available, they had a swimming pool and play ground for kids. Will definitely stay here next time. - KandKGetaway
