This review is for the Karankawa camping area; full hookups. Good interior paved (chip seal) roads; fairly level pull-through sites along sides of road. Some shade trees. Walk to old Spanish Mission Espiritu Santo, and take the tour if you can - very interesting. Also a very old fort, Presidia La Bahia, and memorial to Goliad massacre. This is a nice State Park, and worth a couple extra days to explore the historical sites. We would stay again. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park earned an 8/10 because of the history and the convenience. As the site of a Spanish mission, fort and the Goliad Massacre during the time of the Texas Revolution this is a must do for any history lover. There is a path that connects the state park to the fort/presidio in one direction and to downtown Goliad in the other direction. The small downtown area has several restaurants, antique shops and an interesting courthouse. It is well worth the short walk on the boardwalk along the river to shop and enjoy a meal. Note that the fort/presidio is not part of the state park as it is owned by the Catholic diocese and there is a separate fee to visit. The state park employees were wonderful! They could not have been nicer and when asked questions were able to really provide some context and insight into the mission. We visited during the week and stayed in site #19 in the Karankawa campground which seemed to me to be far and away the best camp sites. The bathrooms were typical of Texas state parks - very basic, older but clean. There was some muffled road noise in the campground due to the convenient location close to town. The park was fairly empty mid-week; appeared there were some birders and some kayakers in addition to the history lovers. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park located in the small town of Goliad. Texas history buffs will be in heaven here. Staff is friendly and helpful about both the park and the surrounding area. Most sites in the Karankawa loop are pull thru's, spacious and offer some privacy, not a lot of shade. Electric was steady, water pressure good. Full Hook up sites in this loop.

The grounds of this park are very nice, the mission and history very interesting. You are in the town of Goliad, just a couple of miles from restaurants, shopping, the downtown area and other culture sites. The camp host who works in the mission chapel is very informative and interesting. Be sure to see the outbuildings with the working looms. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a problem with the 50a service at the power pole and they offered to move us and worked frantically to fix it - we stayed and used the 30a adapter and all was fine until the next morning when everything was promptly repaired. Beautiful setting, nice pull thru sites and PLENTY of space between the sites. Great place to stay and will definitely go back. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

$21 per night (plus a $3 daily parking fee unless you've purchased a $70 annual Texas Parks Pass, which pays for itself if you plan to stay more than 10 nights in Texas State Parks) was for a mostly level sandy "eyebrow" pull-through site (#13) in the Karankawa section with full hookups (all sites in this section are pull-throughs with full hookups). This particular site is located at the lowest point in the campground and will flood if it's raining, which it did during my stay. Maintenance did come out with rubber-backed mats so I could get out of my motorhome when the water receded. All sites can accommodate a 40'+ RV (like mine) and tow with room to spare. The Jacales camping area is water and electric or water only sites. Vaquero and Longhorn camping areas are water only tent sites. All sites have a wooden picnic table on a concrete pad and fire ring. The sites have large expanses of grass and trees. It was pleasantly quiet during my stay. A most friendly, informative ranger who provided maps of the park trails and information on the local activities and amenities staffed the campground office. The main attractions are the on-site Mission Espiritu Santo and up the road the birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza. The Fannin Battleground is ten miles away. The park is part of the Texas Paddling Trial as the San Antonio River surrounds the park. Goliad does have a grocery store and several restaurants. Victoria is 32 miles to the east and offers every amenity. AT&T cell reception was adequate for texting and voice. I used my Verizon jetpack for internet access as it received four bars of 4G LTE. I received 16 digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

A small state park with the only attractions being the Mission Espiritu Santo and Presidio La Bahia, just down the highway. Check in was good. Site was an "eyebrow" type pull through with sites relatively close for a state park. We were in Karankawa Camping Area. The other area, Jacales, appears to be just a parking lot. No sewer or dump station in Karankawa, the dump station is across the highway in Jacales. The Mission is beautiful and La Bahia is interesting because of its early Texas history. Cost does not reflect the daily per person entry fee. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

We are big fans of Texas State Parks and Goliad SP did not disappoint. The full hook up sites were very spaced, level and pull through. The staff was very helpful with our Texas history/sightseeing questions. There is so much to see from a Texas Independence standpoint in the area. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We are now fans of the Texas State Park system. In the past we have avoided them because we felt the entrance fee system was unfair. Well it is unless you buy the annual Pass and use it. This was our 3rd 2 night stay in a Texas SP on this trip (we also stayed at other places) and were able to use the electronic coupons for half off the second night. Goliad SP FHU sites were flat, level, well appointed hookups, reasonably quiet and just a short walk to the Mission which was very interesting. We enjoyed the green grass and trees, due to recent rains, also lots and lots of red cardinals flitting around. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

This was a lovely park with large pull through sites and a lawn area for each site with picnic table. Ranger talks -both historical and nature-were excellent! Nice running trails.

The mission was the highlight of the park!

Definitely return. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Spacious pull through with full hookups. Best sites on outside of camping loop. Avoid the 30A sites on backside of park, that area is a gravel parking lot. Nearby restaurants and fuel. We would stay here again. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the nicer Texas State Parks we have stayed at. We were in the pull thru section, our site was spacious, though the "curve" of the pull thru was a little tight. Other sites had much longer and flatter curves to their pull thru. There were a couple of trees at the site that gave some shade but didn't interfere with satellite reception. Easy walk to Espiritu Mission, and a short drive to the other sites in Goliad. We would stay here again. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

We traveled to Goliad to attend their monthly market day and wanted to spend some time in the state park. This is a historical park with a Spanish Mission on the grounds. The park is well maintained and the vegetation was better than we expected since Texas is in a continuing drought. The only negative we encountered was the pull-through sites were not level at all. We used three layers of "Linx Levelers" to get our rig set up. If you go to Goliad State Park, plan on at least a couple of days. There are 2 missions and an historical downtown area to explore. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
