We were in Grapevine for a business trip and needed somewhere relatively central to stay for a few days. The Vineyards Campground and Cabins were perfect for our needs. While right in the middle of Grapevine and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, you can almost believe you are out in the country. The spots are extremely large with many spots looking out onto the water. However, there are very few established trees so you won't get any privacy from your neighbors. The spots are paved and extremely level. The hookups are modern and easy to use. Since we were only there for three days, we never really used the facilities, but everything we saw was extremely clean and tidy. The WIFI is technically only available on the east side spots, but with our WIFIRanger, we were able to easily see the connection. That said, this was pretty standard park WIFI with speeds hovering at 1Mbps and slower. Good enough for light use, but not very practical for work purposes. There is one downside to the campground which will definitely spoil the countryside vibe. If the wind is blowing out of the south, you may find yourself right in the flight path of airplanes landing at DFW airport. This was the case on our first night and it can be a pretty constant rumble. Not deafening, but you will certainly notice it. All in all, this was a very nice campground that met our specific needs. Generally, we don't need or want to camp this close to a city, but it was a nice place when we needed it. We camped at The Vineyards in a Travel Trailer.

We visited Grapevine in April, and the Vineyards Campground was still closed due to record rainfalls and flooding of the park. While there is still ongoing work at the park, it looks amazing. The bathrooms are new and squeaky clean. Shower areas are large with ample dressing area including benches. Only complaint would be the water was lukewarm, and there were no soap dishes. The laundry has 3 high efficiency top-loading washers ($1.50) and 3 dryers ($1.25/60 minutes) and accept credit cards for payment. There is a campstore on site, along with kayak, bike, and golf cart rentals. Campsite are long, and all are cement or asphalt and level. There is a 3 tiered pricing system--gold, silver, and bronze. Bronze sites are back-in, silver are pull-through (many are parallel to the road), and gold are lake front. The price goes up $10 with each level. We had a bronze site and did have good site lines to the lake. The cable TV had ample channels, and the wifi was adequate. In a metropolitan area of 7 million people, this campground is truly a gem. The planes going into DFW are the only reminder that you are in an urban area. Downtown Grapevine is about 1 1/2 miles away and has a very quaint, old style downtown main street with eateries and gift shops. The surround area has all the stores and restaurant needed and more. We have friends in the area and will definitely stay here again. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

The park has recovered very well from the flood of two years ago. It is pretty and well-maintained. However, we would not advise visiting in winter if you need to use the showers: they are poorly heated, and the shower water is lukewarm at best. We complained after the first night (of three) but nothing was done. We expect better for a premier park with the Vineyards' rates. Perhaps some of the money Grapevine spent to rehabilitate the campground should have been used to improve the shower rooms. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

This place is an oasis within the urban DFW area. We have stayed here before and will again. Now has good WiFi, and new cable. Level, concrete pad. We have stayed here several times over the years, and the price has gone up with the rather profound improvements. It's still worth the money. This park is somewhat unique, because it's colocated with a city park, including lake, and there is lots of room and scenery. Good for walking and for walking the dog. We will stay here again. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

DFW is a traffic nightmare. Found that departing via TX-360 south to I-20, then east worked well for us, and we have tried several different ways. Will try coming in via TX-360 next visit. Avoid the northern I-635 route, it's a nailbiter, and TX-114 through Dallas is a difficult route also.

POSITIVES: Great RV parking spaces. Very good WiFi speed and strength. Good security with a gate that closes at night and has key pad accessibility. BEAUTIFUL views as this is on a lake. Quiet except for airplane traffic.

NEGATIVE: They require FULL PAYMENT when you make a reservation. This alone kept me from a 9 or 10 rating. Since we made the reservation WELL in advance, that meant we had to pay for a site WAY too far in advance. If there had been other alternatives in area, this policy alone would have kept me from staying there. This place was one of the most expensive we stayed in all year and by having to pay up front it affected our cash flow. I hope they discontinue this policy and go to a more traditional policy. I can understand a policy that charges you a nights rate in advance, but NOT one that charges for the WHOLE stay ahead of time. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bass Pro nearby as well as a short drive to several good restaurants, fast food, and 'old town' grapevine which was fun.

Be careful following gps instructions for this address or you can get in some tight residential streets. Best bet is to take Dooley off Hiway 26 or the 'main drag' straight to the park.

Fortunately I live about 8 miles from this great park and take the grandkids there as much as possible, usually 2 or more times a year. Over the last 15 months or so the CG has been closed more than open due to lake flooding (lake went from 15' under full to 25' over pool in about a week and re-flooded 2x since then). Being a city park, much of the staff are volunteers and do a fantastic job. I rated the park at a 10 because of what it always has been and will be again. Parts of the park are still closed, the kids playground has been determined to be unsafe so it is closed until new sand and equipment can be brought in. I didn't rate cleanliness because the restrooms were still closed for repair. Didn't mater though as full hookup utilities work fine. Will be there again next week. Most sites are reasonably level but some are on heavy grades. The staff usually tries to keep them for 5th wheels that can tolerate it better than a MH. The rest of the sites have some slope by design... when it rains it pours! You can do anything you want from this park. It is in the middle of the City of Grapevine, but you don't really know that in the park. It is located about 1/2 way between Dallas and Ft. Worth at the north end of DFW airport. In the summer they usually have family / kid's activities on Friday & Saturday night. This can be a magic show, outdoor movie, fireside stories, marshmallow roast, etc. Understand though, these are not going to resume until the park is fully open, target date of Sept - Oct 2016. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

The Vineyards is an excellent park that has the possibility of being outstanding. Only part of one section of the park was open during our stay due to flooding. Of the section that was open, there was only one level place (right past the store) to disconnect your toad. (There may be other places once the flood waters recede.) All hookups worked and were well-placed with no extensions needed. My only real complaint about this park is how unlevel the sites are. Even the renovated sites where they have poured concrete are unlevel, with the exception of 6 or 7 of them. We were in one of the semi-level sites and only needed one set of 1.5" boards on the back. Most motorhomes we saw had at least one tire off the ground. I don't understand the concept of spending money to pour new concrete and not leveling the site. Some of the concrete sites had a 6" slope from front to back. Beyond this, I have no complaints. The park hosts were friendly and helpful. The park is conveniently located with many things to do right in Grapevine. The restrooms were clean, though there was no shower curtain. We stayed 5 nights in June and it was always quiet and peaceful. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to ask for a level site, or bring plenty of boards. The site lengths they quote are a bit overstated, as with most parks. Some sites are asphalt, so you'll need jack pads if a concrete site isn't available. Make reservations well in advance; they sell out nightly.

We stayed in gold site 85, backup, overlooking lake. This would have been worth it if we could have driven in, because the view out of the windshield was the road. This site also has afternoon sun. A silver pull through like site 78 has a better view as well as afternoon shade provided by the shadow of your motorhome. Some sites appeared not level as coaches had the front tires off the ground. Pretty grounds, friendly and helpful host, great location with excellent restaurants. We will return. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay in this park. It's a lovely setting. The sites are large and well separated. Most are pretty level. We paid extra for a premium lake-front site, although the lake level is pretty low. Wifi works really well, lots of networks to choose from. The park is clean, well-maintained, and secure. It's a little pricey but that's our only complaint. We would stay here again. We camped at The Vineyards in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent location to Dallas & Frisco. Our sites was perfect in November. But maybe extremely hot in summer, no shade. Sites closer to entrance have tree shade. Many sites such as 70 are super unlevel, be aware. Some are level like ours. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

A very large spacious RV resort. They have golf cart, bicycle, water sports rentals. Waterfront and water view sites. They have a large children playground and tons of common grass areas for walking the dog. Very pet friendly. The city of Grapevine puts on a fireworks display on Friday nights very impressed. Very friendly staff and campers. I would give a 10 but our site was very severely unleveled. As we walk around we see others struggling to level. Some new concrete pads and they look very level. This is a very kid friendly park and the kids all seem to be having a great time. We will return this is one of our favorite places. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

This was our first visit to this campground. The check in was very easy as all of our information and packet were given to us at the gate as we entered without us having to get out of the coach. Our site was easy in and out for our 43 ft. RV. There was a fire pit and a deck at our site. The campground was clean and well maintained with a beach area on the lake. The other campers were friendly with no messy sites. We will return when in the area again. We camped at The Vineyards in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful well maintained campground, albeit a little pricey. The sites are very spacious and clean. All of the extras are very over priced, firewood, golf cart rentals, etc., Some of the items they advertise are things provided by third party vendors and were not available while we were there such as paddle boards, ice cream, etc. They do have a beautiful fireworks show and free hot dogs on Friday nights. We didn't eat the hot dogs, so I cannot say how they were. The lake was very low so swimming etc wasn't pleasant either. We camped at The Vineyards in a Fifth Wheel.

We're a big rig (semi truck) with fifth wheel and it's hard to find parks that can accommodate us. Nice gated park, one feels very safe. Staff was great - very helpful. Good Internet. It's a lovely park, nice spot on the lake, swimming areas, and easy in and out for even the biggest of RVs! We will stay here again when we are back in the area. Price listed was for a bronze level. We camped at The Vineyards in a Fifth Wheel.
