Never again in this state park. I love state parks but this one, no way. First of all, we stayed in the FHU loop and picked space 14 because it was the most level and had the ONLY open area with FHU that you could get your Sat Dish to seek up. Your table is concrete. The table and the fire pit are down 5 or 6 steps on a lower level. So everytime you needed something from the RV you had to go up and down. At the fire pit, you were surrounded by lots of trees and foliage and a standing still lake that allowed for more biting bugs that I have ever experienced in my life.

We didn't use the picnic area or firepit. Just directing my husband to set the RV up so we were in the right spot...took about 10 mins...my legs, arms, feet and back were covered in horrible bites. No matter what I did, shower, ice pack, witch hazel, cortizone, calamine, you name it: didn't help. 3 days here felt like a lifetime of hell. We had to relevel every day because the ground was so uneven.

They told us on the phone that it was $25.00 per night for FHU and $5 per day, per person for park entry. The girl told us that being they are affiliated with a national park they would honor our America the Beautiful and not charge park entrance. Well, we got here and even though the reservation said no charge for entrance the guy at the desk said, unless you have a Texas State Park pass, you have to pay it. If it wasn't getting late in the day, I would have left.

It cost us for 3 days: $30 just for park entrance and $75 for site. I could have stayed at any park for $35 a day and could have sat outside and not gotten bitten to death. Not very accommodating. Now I know why there is hardly anyone here except for locals doing a day visit to fish in the pond, or go to the so called beach.

If you are a big rig or your RV is over 40'...this is not a good park for anything over that. We are 40'MH and towed and we just barely made it through the roadways. Over head trees are desperate for trimming. I am sure my AC units help trim some.

Sewer hookup is raised so if your sewer hose comes out low be prepared. It will never be in a proper position to fully drain. Drainage will lay in that sewer hose till you are ready to leave and hold it up and rinse it. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped here July 2017. Been camping in Texas State Parks for nearly 20 years. We have a 29' traveler trailer. Camped in the Ravin Hill area. I tried to get in site 23 but could not make it - a very tight curved pull thru site. Since we were only staying one night and the camp host had not arrived they let me in site 24. Other review sites will mention how uneven the sites are in Raven Hill. That is an understatement. I gave up on getting our camper level. To top it off, the sewer cap was about 6" above the ground and uphill from the entire camper. I would have been better off camping at another area and using the dump station. Park is very pretty, people very friendly. But not my favorite park. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice state park adjacent to Lake Raven. Camped there during Labor Day weekend. This was our second visit to this park. We camped in the Prairie Branch Camping Area adjacent to a shelter. Our site was very spacious, shaded, mostly level, directly adjacent to the lake; we camped in a 40ft motorhome w/ vehicle. Our site had a fire pit, picnic table and large screened in room. We previously camped in the Raven Hill Camping Area (full hook-ups) but most of the sites in the area are NOT level; will not stay in that section again. Park Rangers were VERY friendly and courteous. There is a small "beach" area, miles of great hiking/mountain bike riding, a Nature Center and horseback riding (supplied via on-site vendor). This park is part of a National Forest and can be somewhat difficult to navigate in a larger motorhome. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

Could be really nice but behind on maintenance. Our site had low voltage issues. Most sites would not accomodate a bigger rig, we are 35ft. Barely fit. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park on a small lake. We stayed in 50A, water site, though they have full hook-up sites available. There are lots of trees, so can be difficult to maneuver with a big rig. We are 39ft. The campground hosts are friendly and helpful, the sites are spacious, somewhat level, with fire pit and picnic table. Prairie loop where we were are all back-in sites. We had a good bit of rain during our stay but noticed most sites were dry with no flooding. There are trails, bike paths, fishing and a small nature center. Grocery store and restaurants are 7 mi away. We had a pleasant stay. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We love Huntsville State Park. Not fancy but lots of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, fishing, and swimming. In April there are very few campers and plenty of space and privacy. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in Raven Hill loop with full hookups at site #16. The sites are very spacious. Ours opened to a wooded common area with large picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of room for the kids to run, play, and ride their bikes along the paved loop. We had a great view of the small but pretty lake.

Yes, the sites in our loop were quite unlevel but it was no big deal for us to use some leveling blocks.

There are numerous excellent hiking trails of various lengths and difficulty. This is an outstanding biking park---either mountain biking along the trails or biking along the hilly park roads.

Shopping and restaurants in Huntsville are only 10 mi away in case you need them.

We got 2 channels via OTA antenna and had a mix of LTE and 4g cell service from AT&T.

We would certainly return to this beautiful park! We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We camped in site 143 with 50A electric and water at Huntsville State Park near Huntsville, TX in the Prairie Branch Loop in December 2016. Beautiful private site with lakeview. Pad was short for our 37' 5th wheel but parked diagonally across site and it worked great. The sites in Raven Hill Loop with full hook-ups are pull throughs and crowded. The other water/electric loop, Coloneh Camping Area, have many sites that are unlevel front to back. Might be tough for motor homes. Beautiful park. Will definitely return. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a week. We had a lot of fun hiking, swimming and playing at the playground. Unfortunately we were there when they had some type of foliage growing on the beach. We were still able to swim but it was kind weird. We went geocaching/hiking and the trails were clearly marked. My only complaint is that a lot of the RV sites are on such an angle and it was hard to pick one that wasn't. Oh well the fun outweighed the slide in the motorhome. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

Raven hill (sewer) section very nice but it took us over 3 sets of lynx blocks to get level. Other sections (no sewer) are more level. This is still one of our all time favorite parks due to the lake, park size, site size, amenities (horseback riding, canoe rental) and hiking trails. Also, firewood was 2 sticks/$1. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A nice park that is shaded and grassy. It was a pleasant experience. Well marked and groomed hiking trails that are also used by bicyclists. Busy on the weekend but, there were few campers during the week. Easy to get into and out of park from the highway. Would definitely stay there again. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Short drive from I-45. Good paved roads & shade trees. We got a fairly level, paved pull-thru site with full hookups near Lake Raven. Plenty of room for our 38' RV. $35 includes $25 camping fee, plus $5 admission fee per person. We enjoyed our stay, and would stay again when in the area. Great park, pretty tight turns throughout. Sites are a little snug, but the scenery makes up for it. ATT Cell Service OK, not many OTA channels for TV. There are a lot of trees, but I did see folks with satellite setups so I am pretty sure you can get a signal. Price was with full hook ups. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

Large park right off the interstate but very peaceful. It was a cold, wet afternoon when we stopped so we didn't get to explore much of the park, but we had a great pull through site with patio, picnic area, and a view of the lake through the trees. We would camp here again. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.

On a mid-week overnight stay in January, there were few sites occupied. Many of the sites are very short and obviously not level. Some did not look correctable. Our initial site was far too short for a 30 foot motorhome plus car, and the staff readily changed us to a site we preferred. Each site is paved and includes a concrete picnic table. I did not see any pull-through sites or sewer hookups but may have missed them. The rate shown does not include the $5 per person per day entry charge; our $70 annual pass pays for itself very quickly by waiving the daily entry charge and including camping discounts. The camping area is nicely shaded by well spaced tall pines. The showers are very private with free plentiful water. There was NO TV reception on our antenna, but Verizon wireless worked well, as did Tracfone cell service. The park was on a boil water notice during our stay. We only stayed one night on our way south, but enjoyed the place and would stop in again. We camped at Huntsville State Park in a Motorhome.
