There are 3 city-operated campgrounds in Iraan. The oldest is Alley Oop, located on the northwest side of town with 10 sites. The Landing is located on the southeast side of town near the airport and has 12 sites. Rocky Top is just around the corner from The Landing and has 14 sites. Rocky Top appears to be newest of the three and is nothing more than a large parking lot. The Landing is the nicest, with some trees and grass. Alley Oop is a bit more run-down than the others and is smaller - not suitable for big rigs. The Landing and Rocky Top can both handle the largest rigs. Overnight fee for all three is $12. At the time we visited, all three were completely full with obviously long-term tenants and we were not able to stay the night. We camped at Rocky Top RV Park (formerly Iraan City Park) in a Motorhome.

Park is now called "Rocky Top". We just happened to see it from the highway as we drove into town. It is very clean and perfect for an overnight stop. The sites are huge enough that hopefully plans are to add more sites. There are no facilities, restrooms, etc. Pay is on the honor system, an envelope at a little pay station. It appears that most people there are workers in the area. We took the last available site. This will definitely be a place for an overnight stop for us.
