We stayed for 6 days, coming in on a Saturday and leaving on Friday. We were in E405 a reserved site, back in. Water, electric with a dump station on the way out. Max 14 night stay, this is a Lake O' the Pines campground. Very friendly staff at the gate, fairly busy during weekends but peaceful and quiet during the week. Apparently lots of improvements made after the recent floods. There are first come RV and tent sites in 1, 2 and 3 and a day use area with picnic tables and swimming areas.

Good lake to get on the water and enjoy. Swimming and fishing. Most folks well behaved. What we missed was a fish cleaning station. Wonderful little break. Would return. Also try Brushy Creek campground sometime. We camped at Johnson Creek Camp COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are no trails but we walked around the campgrounds. There is a Dollar General, cafe, tavern, gas station and a few other stores on the main road outside the park.

Historic Jefferson is about 13 miles away and we had good BBQ at Josephs riverboat BBQ. try the swamp fries.

No place to rent anything. Bullfrog Marina and some stores only open Friday - Sunday. No gas on the lake so have enough or go out to the gas station - 3 minute drive.

Fishing: We caught bass, catfish, perch.

My experience here was a good one. The campground is on a beautiful lake and the grounds and facilities are kept very clean. Additionally, the attendants were pleasant and helpful. The sites can be a bit closer and exposed than I usually prefer, but it is the off season and there were very few campers. We camped at Johnson Creek Camp COE in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Jefferson, TX is an interesting little historical town, known for having steamships before the log jam that formed the waterway was removed. The countryside here is very nice, with tall pine trees and great bird-watching locations, including right in the campground itself.

Very nice typical COE park with level paved sites. Many sites are on the water of Lake O the Pines. No sewers but dump station on exit road. The extremely surly unaccommodating park camp host is the only reason for not rating this park higher. He should find another occupation where he is not dealing with the public. The posted park hours are closed 10pm to 6am BUT the exit is not open until 9am! We camped at Johnson Creek Camp COE in a Motorhome.
