This is an update from the last time I was here. Good news/bad news. The free internet is no longer free. But the reality is, the internet was hit or miss in the past in terms of getting on. They have a lot of full timers here who like to stream videos and that was causing problems. I didn't pay the $5 fee for the one night I was here so I can't tell you if the internet is better now. I'm probably going to wind up spending a lot of time here in the future. But for one night...at $40, I think internet should be free. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a favorite stop-over when we visit the hill country. Long pull-throughs are easy. If you want to be beside the creek, only back-ins are available. A large clubhouse and gathering area are used regularly; a daily crowd gathers for coffee in the mornings. While we were there the WiFi was down due to a recent storm. Our satellite dish worked well for television reception. The dog run, splashing and swimming in the creek, a small store, the "world's biggest shower" and other curiosities make this a family-friendly place. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

There is plenty to see nearby: Johnson City is the home of President Lyndon Johnson; Pedernales Falls State Park; Blanco State Park; Old Tunnel State Park. Tour historic old churches in the nearby German-founded town of Fredericksburg; be sure to try the great German cooking there. If you are into wine tasting, wineries abound in the area.

This park is really quite beautiful. It is kept extremely neat and the landscaping is well tended. It gave us a good feeling just driving into it for the first time. Our site along the creek, with a lovely lawn and shade trees, was especially well-appreciated. The sites are spaced nicely at an angle so as to appear more private. The other RVers seemed friendly, too. We would definitely recommend it. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Front desk lady was unwelcoming and rude. Very rude. The put us in a site they said was private but had a waterview. I think it's down by the cabins. Make sure you ask for a map before you take one of these sites because they are really really loud. Unshaded and hit the hard sun. I would be hard pressed to stay here again. Rate reflects a "Creek" site. Roads are compressed marble gravel, as are the sites. Scattered trees throughout the park...more on the creek-side of the park. Some permanent residents but all sites are kept up. There is grass between the sites and is well landscaped. There is a nicely kept clubhouse with full kitchen for rallies and a unique Indoor fire pit to gather around on those cold winter days. Will definitely be back. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

So many things to do in this area. From Johnson City west on Hwy 290 is mile after mile of vineyards (and Tasting Rooms). The are also several distilleries and craft beer places. Pres. L.B Johnson National Park is nearby. The Blanco River is about 8 miles south which affords tubing , kayaking and other summer activities. Perdenales Falls State Park is 10 miles east of town.

Overall, this is a very nice RV park, located close (7 mi) to Johnson City. The check-in person was not very friendly or helpful. They have level gravel roads and deep sites. There is a border around the gravel site to separate it from the nice landscaping. The utilities are spread out, so you pick the one you want to be closest to. They have a rec hall and the "Watering Hole" where people, especially the seasonals, gather to socialize. Texas uses an aggregate paving on there highways which makes a lot of noise. Miller Creek is on Texas Hwy 281 which sees a lot of truck traffic, and hwy noise. There is no cable TV and minimal number of antenna stations. The wi-fi was adequate. A nice park and worth a return visit. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Johnson City is in the heart of Texas Hill Country, with music, food, and wine. Especially wine. The 290 Wine Trail from Johnson City to Fredericksburg has over 70 wineries in the 30 mile distance. Along that trail is the LBJ Ranch which is a good tour. The Garrison Brothers Distillery is in Hye, if you like good whiskey, and for those who prefer clear spirits there is Deep Eddy's and the Dripping Springs Distillery in, Dripping Springs.

Our rate was based on a week-long stay (one night free) for a back-in creek lot. Sites are set on an angle to the park road. They are gravel, level, and very long. We had a beautiful view from our patio of the crystal clear creek. On several morning, the creek was smooth as glass providing beautiful reflections of the surrounding trees. Many seasonal rentals, very friendly staff and RV'ers in park. The bathrooms are a bit tight, but are kept immaculately clean. Just one shower and two stalls in the bathrooms. No dressing area for the shower, so you must lock the main entry door for privacy. There is a handicapped bath between the men's and women's bath for use if door is locked. The Watering Hole is utilized by many for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails and socialization. Weekly potlucks with themes like Italian, Mexican, and leftovers. Easy access to Highway 281--some traffic noise during the day, but quiets down by bed time. No cable TV and only a few over the air channels. Satellite reception was good from our site. WiFi was better than most, and we were able to post pictures (2 MG files) from our laptop (which often times will not even connect to campground wifi) using it. Beautiful pampas grass growing throughout the campground and many mature trees provide just the right amount of shade. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest "RV Resorts" we have visited (we usually look for state parks, but it was booked). Easy access off US 281. We got started a little late today and were on track to arrive after 6pm. The office called us at about 4:45 and stated they would leave our information on the front of the office. No problems at all.

Park is very clean and there is plenty of room between sites (one full site width between each site). We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting and a very well designed and cared for park that is clean and maintained. Spaces are wide enough with good access to hookups. Our space had a tree that needed trimming and if you have a dish, you could have problems unless you can move it around due to the trees. We did have some problems with the wifi. It started working finally several days into our stay but they said they were working on it. The issues were with so many people watching movies. All spots were level. Although it's on a major highway, I was far enough back so noise was never a factor. I will stay here again. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

located between Johnson City and Blanco. Short ride to LBJ Ranch or day trip to Fredricksburg. Do check out the Hye Market in Hye...about 5 miles west of Johnson City. About an hour from Austin or San Marcos....not that far from downtown San Antonio.

Attractive campground sitting on beautiful landscape. There is a creek that runs behind the campgrounds that is crystal clear and slow moving, don't think "Texas Tubing" here but rather lazy sunbathing in cool, clear water. Restroom and shower facilities are only handicapped by the shear lack of number, only a couple of showers available, but are otherwise clean and stocked. Spent a weekend here, visited a couple of breweries, Perdernales Falls State Park, ate at Pecan Brewery and Old 300 BBQ. Great hitching post to park your RV and explore the area. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park! Stayed overnight. Everyone was friendly, even invited us to park potluck that evening. Grounds clean and everything looked well taken care of! Sites level and hookups in great condition. Lot spacing was spacious with some shade. Site surface was a concrete pad and features a picnic table and patio. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We choose this park because it was in the center of the Hill Country and about the same distance from S.A and Austin. It made for some long drives but was worth it not to move. It sits on a pretty little river and if you can get a back in site the views are beautiful. The interior sites and roads are rock (the only reason it did not score higher) with grass between the sites. The hook-ups where well placed and convent. Some shade trees but not enough to block satellite tv. The front staff is wonderful and if in the area will stay again. We camped at Miller Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like bourbon Garrison Brothers is worth the trip nice tasting for $12. Hondo's in Fredericksburg had gospel on Sunday afternoon that was very good. Enjoyed Luckenbach and they also had great live entertainment and well over $500,000 in Harley's. Branco also has lots of music options. Of the wineries we enjoyed Becker's the most and on Sunday they also had live entertainment. There is plenty to do in this area, would be hard to get bored.
