Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 2 night on our way West. This park was recommended to us by several acquaintances and they were spot on. Even though, the resort is right off of I-10, it is fairly quiet and a very nice and well maintained resort. We were assigned to a 75ft pull-in with a waterview. A first time for us since we do usually stay in pull-throughs because we pull a 25ft trailer behind our 45ft motorhome. But the roads are fairly wide and the pull-in site turned out to be very nice. We liked it and would not hesitate to do this again. We did not make use of the resort facilities but notice that they put on music shows, breakfasts, etc. - There is a gated section which is for owners and it looks like all of them have a substantial house adjacent to their RV pad. All of the RV sites are generous and a 45ft motorhome will fit in all of them. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fredericksburg! About 30 minutes away. This town was settled by German immigrants and the town people are very proud of their heritage. The town center has many German restaurants and beer gardens and a brew house, too. Unlike Ober-Gatlinburg in TN, this is not a kitschy tourist town. It is all based on their history and they try to maintain a close connection to their past.

I was able to get the last available site for a 1-night stopover during Spring Break. This is a well laid out, professionally run park. Concrete sites are level; and roads are paved and easy to maneuver. For me, there was minimal highway noise off I10. Although the park was full, it was very quiet. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

We made a reservation, for a waterfront site here, one year in advance, which required a $200 deposit for a period of 3 months. Sunny and open with a concrete pad and picnic table. Has a sewer connection and 30/50 amp service.

However staff rented our site out after 2 months. The way this error was fixed was to force us to vacate our site. The young lady behind the desk was rude and disrespectful.

Poor customer service was condoned by management. We will never return here! We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Wow, this is a REAL resort! So exceptional that I fear we may not find as nice during most of our travels. I've never seen so many fine rigs in my life, so the secret must be out! We stayed right next to the lake in an executive back-in spot. The place was immaculate; reminiscent of the Cars movie - so cute! The staff was nice, and the office has a little country store for your convenience. Always seemed like there was some activity or another going on. Would stay again in a heartbeat. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

In the top 3 of 293 parks we have stayed at since we retired in 2009 We had a nice site over looking the lower lake - we enjoyed our two week stay and will come back - WIFI was very fast - Lots of activities for winter Texans on the calendar. The dog park was huge and a big hit with our Cockapoo. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

A very nice resort park. The only drawback is that it is right off the highway, so there is highway noise to deal with. However, it quiets down at night. Strong WiFi. Mostly very large rigs, so roomy spots with concrete pads. Kerrville is just a 5-10 minute drive from the park and is a pleasant town to visit and shop. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This resort can easily be the standard for other resorts. If I were to build my own resort I would copy this one. All that was lacking was the ability to get propane. You will not be disappointed in your stay here. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place. Water pressure and 50 amp service excellent. Cement level pads with cement patio bump out. Pad was long enough to park 40 ft fifth wheel and dually. Adult only section and pool. Probably the best park we have visited in the past three years. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park. Many possibilities for parking/ sites. We were in the adults only area and the outside sites all face ( pull in) a pond. Very pleasant setting. Close to the interstate but not any noise. Wifi was very good for this large of a park but we had issues with cable so missed a couple of playoff games. Front office folks are great. A must stay. Excellent office staff. We have stayed here many times. One of top Rv resorts in Texas. Beautiful grounds, Rv sites and easy access from I-10. Short drive into town with lots of shopping, restaurants, speciality shops, Walmart, HEB grocery, etc? Some slight noise from I-10 traffic if your site is on freeway side. Excellent pools- one is adult, exercise facility, pickle ball & tennis courts, library, rec halls, outdoor social bar, movie theatre, general store, etc. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Property is not gated at night but well lighted. Wifi & cable strong. curbside trash pickup. Separate ownership section. Easy access to Rv resort from I-10...suggest reservations. I am told a large medical complex. USNails & Spa was great in town...Some sites in center of resort have some huge trees that could block your Sat reception.

Overall Rating:

My wife and I found this "GEM" of an RV resort/park while checking out RV reviews in the fall of 2016. We had been wintering in Fredericksburg, previously. We reserved the month of April in 2017 and enjoyed our stay immensely. Lots to do. Not far into Kerrville or even a short drive to Fredericksburg, if one wishes. Much to do. Dining out, shopping, grocery stores, etc. and just a short drive. You can participate in senior activities as much as you like or just stay to yourselves. All the roads and pads (sites) are paved. Some commented that the nearby highway can be noisy, but we did not notice any noise where we were located. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. WiFi needed work because the reception was somewhat weak and spotty, to say the least. I think they were planning to add more WiFi stations soon after our stay. Hoping this improves as the only WiFi that was acceptable was the club house, laundry, and office. No shade trees to speak of, except our site and I'm not giving that out. Negative about our tree?... Bird poop, but you get that with trees. Always washing our truck. We stayed in our 5th wheel. There is an RV washing service, if needed. RV washers/detailers come into the park and offer their services. (arrangement with management). Somewhat pricey, but they have to make a living and do a 90% job. Have reserved our 2018 stay for March/April. Decided to extend a month over 2017 because this park is just so nice. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nicest resort ( truly a resort ! ) we have ever stayed in. Sites are all concrete and grass. We stayed on a pull-in, very nice. The park was decorated for Christmas, beautifully done. Everything is top notch. Wide roads, nice lots, great staff, little store, movie night and plenty of other activities. We stayed a week but would be a great place to stay the winter.
