This is a COE Park and is located in a great area with lots of amenities north of Dallas. We saw deer everyday some turkeys and had a lovely site (11) right on Lake Lewisville. The site was on broken asphalt and not level. This park is very quiet during the week but as soon as Friday comes the RV's start rolling in, so really crowded on the weekends, although still very quiet at night.

The COE has a policy of only 14 nights and then you can apply for an extension which we tried to do, you can apply 4 days before your date you are to leave. The rangers approve if you stay or not, the problem was they don't notify you until it is time to leave which doesn't leave time to make other arrangements if you are not given a spot.

There is no sewers but a dump station. Sites are well spaced apart. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Roomy long sites with a few pull through although 50 amp spotty. One crazy thing I'd never encountered before, an 11pm gate closing with no entry after that time, what a crock. Spoiled some of our tourist ventures for sure. This is beauracracy run amok. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Excellent to explore area except for the idiotic 11pm gates being locked, no entry allowed after that. That's just crazy.

This is a lovely park. Lots of walking and biking trails. Very clean. We had trouble with defective circuit breaker on power pedestal. Were moved to another site because maintenance would take a week or longer to repair. Main complaint is 10:00 curfew. Gate locks at 10:00 and there is no access code, so no access after that. Cell service was great on Verizon and AT&T. There is a Pack 'N Mail in Corinth, right near by. They will accept packages for you for a small fee. Very nice and reliable. What a nice park. Clean, quiet and open enough to feel like you are outdoors. Power and water are placed properly and worked great. ( no sewer but a dump station) Lots of sites with lake views and bank fishing. We camped here in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Hickory Creek Park is a Corps of Engineers park on the north side of Lewisville Lake near Dallas, Texas. It has 121 RV campsites. All have water and electricity, but no sewer at sites. Some sites 50A electric, but most are 30A. Many sites have lake access and views. Two plus miles of wooded hiking trails. Walmart, Albertsons grocery and restaurants only a couple of miles away. Very popular, urban campground. We were in site 35 with 50A electric and great lake view. We've been here many times and will return. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Creek is a lovely COE campground with good access to Dallas on reasonably priced mass transit with a station within five miles of the campground. Road access to Dallas on 35 is currently under heavy construction making driving in more challenging. This campground is well maintained, sites are large and lovely, interior roads are easy to navigate and well laid out. Given its proximity to Dallas, the campground was a wonderful peaceful place to visit the area. Camphosts were welcoming and helpful with information both about the campground and the area itself. The views from the sites in the campground are beautiful. As other reviewers have noted, this campground does close all access at night. While we were there, it appeared that the closing time has been updated to 11 PM. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Hickory Creek in multiple sites in November and December, 2016. Note that some sites are quite sloping - we originally booked site 10 and we would have had the front end (and door) of our motorhome *way* off the ground to get level there. Sites we stayed in that were reasonably level were 13, 34, 52, and 95.

Seniors get half price which is $14 for 30A or $15 for 50A.

Good walking areas throughout the park. Note that the entrance gate closes at 10pm and it is a mile+ walk to the campground. Ranger recommended we leave one vehicle inside the gate if we would be returning after 10pm - but we only have the one tow vehicle in addition to the motorhome. (We moved to another location for the weekend when we had late evening events scheduled.)

Hickory Creek is most convenient to Denton, and it isn't too bad for getting onto I-35E (but the construction on I-35E is awful). Hickory Creek is our favorite of the 3 parks we have stayed at in this area - best value for the money - as long as you don't need to be out after 10pm. Use Waze on your smartphone to help with directions when you're returning to the campground, especially after 8pm, as sometimes there are exits closed due to the construction. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Walking in the campground - nice paved walking paths as well as the campground roads. Be aware that the exits off of I-35E may have been repositioned (or closed) since your GPS's maps were updated - we found Waze was the most reliable information. When coming to the campground from the south in the toad (not the RV), we found it was usually better to get off on the Lake Park exit and take a very long frontage road path rather than the Swisher Road exit.

This is a very nice park and the spaces are large. Easy back in spaces and pull through. The restroom and shower facilities were roomy and clean. The biggest downside to this park is the policy of locking the entry gate at 10:00 pm. I you are attending a function of some kind in DFW area you will be forced to leave early to make the one hour drive back to the park. It is a VERY long walk if you get locked out. Other than that it's a very nice park to stay in. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

Hickory Creek Park is a COE (Corps of Engineers) park on Lewisville Lake in Hickory Creek, Texas just north of Dallas. It is a nice campground in an urban area, yet feels like you are in the country. It has 120 water and electric RV sites, 44 of those with 50A electric. Central dump station. Many sites have lake views and access. Sites are spacious. Large, modern restrooms and bathhouse. Over 2 miles of wooded hiking trails. Google map of park shows every site at street level (cool). Rates are $28/night for 30A electric and $30/night for 50A. 1/2 price with Senior Pass. We were in site 35. We've been here many times and will return. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped her in a 28 foot Class A , no tow vehicle. The Site was back-in, gravel and absolutely level! It had a picnic table and concrete apron to step out on. The power held good amps and voltage and water pressure was great. There was access to the boat ramp and many areas to walk in. That was the upside. Things to be aware of. The staff member at the entry gate provided no map, just "follow the signs". There was no mention of the bath house hot water being "under repair" or that the on-site sewer was apparently overwhelmed by recent rain or something else. Yes, it blew out in the first 5 seconds of the start of the dump. Fortunately, it went south and I was standing north!. And, if you are leaving the campground, be back by 11 pm, or maybe 10 pm, as when the gate closes, you are walking to your campsite - 1.5 miles inside??? We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Great campground close enough to Dallas to visit attractions. The worse part about our stay was the construction on I35E at the turn off for the camp. We also had the wrong address. If we had the correct address, our GPs would have found it. The address is 1201 Point Vista Road in Hickory Creek, Tx. There was no noise from highway, but we were on the airport flight path. The planes slowed down at night. We were in a site with a view of the lake and we saw deer during our stay. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park with large sites and very big rig friendly. Sites very in size and slope so it is a good idea to drive through before you sign in. No septic at the sites but the dump station is close and easy to use. We were run out by heavy rains causing flooding but this is a rare occurrence. Service would have been excellent except that we were not notified of the evacuation until 6 hours after it was decided. Hard to deal with same day evacuation when you learn about it at 4PM! We would return without question! It's an oasis in the city.. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Rate is for Senior Pass discount. Wonderful park in a residential area near Dallas. Large sites many with lake view and shade. Partial hookups; water and electric. Good OTA reception; good Verizon cell and MiFi reception. Walmart is within a mile from the park. Stayed nine nights and would return. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Overall this a good park. Very large, with space between sites, most with a brush or tree line between them. Sewage is at a central location, which is no big deal as long as you have the portable gray water tank. There are quite a few pull-through sites but all seem to be out in the open with no shade, which is a big deal in Texas. We stayed at site 20 and will book this site again. We have stayed at site 43 pull-through; it was OK but like I said earlier no shade. Everyone was friendly, campers and staff. The park is patrolled by the local police and they mind their own business as long as you mind yours, not a problem at all. Alcohol is allowed but no drunkenness. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is a COE campground that is very well maintained. Lots of road for bicycles and walking the dog. Some sites back up to lake waterfront. We had a waterfront slip 92 in a cul-de-sac. You will find tent campers mixed with motorhomes, they do not have sewer hookups but have a nice pumpout on your way out the park. The line can get long if you leave when everyone else leaves. This is a very good campground for big rigs. We will stay here again. We camped at Hickory Creek COE in a Motorhome.
