Site was level and easy to back into. We were in the Oaks section. We arrived during a period of heavy rains and the grounds were saturated. Our site had gravel we were able to park and level the trailer. The park is older and many sites show their age with grass growing in between the gravel. Even as an older park many areas appear to be well maintained. Once the rain ended there were people out mowing grass and trimming. Water, electric, and sewer worked well. The location was excellent for our needs as we were in the process of changing residency and getting set up for full-time. This is a good place for longer stays or overnight depending on your needs. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

After reading all of the reviews, I had low expectations of this park; my expectations were barely met. This is the headquarters for Escapees; it should be the showcase for Escapee Parks. Rather, the park is dated; picnic tables in poor condition, lack of cable tv, poor antenna reception. You must pay for wifi. I would have been happy if it was Tengo. Wifi is through the local phone company. After paying $15 for the week for wifi (one device per paym't), I was annoyed to find it barely functioned. The positive of this park are the friendly people and the level (gravel pads) sites. The grass was mowed. Also, AT&T cell phone service was rather poor (not the park's fault). We heard Verizon service was great. We stayed here for a week. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an older adequate park, we were here to visit with a couple of RV friends. The utilities all worked OK the 2 nights we were here. The pull through site was gravel as were the roads (some were paved). No trees so the rooftop dish worked well as did the OTA antenna. Verizon voice and hotspot worked well too. We have been here a few times but this time there were thousands of caterpillars also. We were in an open area so didn't get the worst of them. Office staff was helpful when we had to modify our length of stay. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the first Escapees park and also the Escapees headquarters. We stayed here as we have family in Houston and we had a package to pick up through the Escapees mail service. I agree with others that the park is dated. The sites are grass and gravel, pull through or back-in. The picnic tables are worn looking, there is no cable and poor antenna reception, wifi is available for a daily $3 fee or $15 weekly fee. Some of the sites are long-term, some are for the care center users. But what makes up for all this is that everyone we met was friendly, there is an evening social at the clubhouse, breakfast at the Care Center that benefits the Care Center and a thrift store that does the same. We highly recommend the onsite smart weigh service to weigh your rig/tow vehicle for $55. This was done by a very professional person who stresses safety. There is a pool and activity center, a book exchange, free movie rental, line dancing classes, exercise classes, lots of information about RV living. We use the mail service which has been efficient. While we were there there were lots of caterpillars, but I am sure this was due to the time of year. Overall we had a good experience and would stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is going downhill fast! We have stayed here numerous times over the years and have witnessed it going from a "good park" to a "OK park." During our stay here this time, the water has been off numerous times without any warning (so keep you fresh water full!). Construction noise is pretty constant now. We have seen several "guests?" living out of their cars, and many vicious small dogs in constant attack mode! Barking dogs are the "normal" sound after dark, along with gun shots during the weekends. We don't feel safe here any longer! We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Travel Trailer.

I agree with some of the other reviewers, we were expecting more from "escapees headquarters." It also reminded us of a 70's campground with very limited space between sites. We were here to basically check out the care facility and also spend time with friends who were here. All the utilities worked fine. Trees could be an issue, as one touched our awning. We did not complain so I'll not say we were dissatisfied. However, I would never want to park under another one here. The squirrels had a hayday jumping on our roof and into the trees.

All in all, we were a bit disappointed in this park, for all the room they have here, I guess we expected something a bit more spacious, especially as far as the sites were concerned. Picnic table old and nasty, never used. Livingston is a nice little town, but there is limited amounts of things to do in the area. We would only return when passing through the area. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My expectations of this park far surpassed the experience. I would have expected a membership campground like Escapees to be a little classier. I did read the reviews before booking and they are all spot-on. It is an older campground and pretty worn out. The check-in was really dull. The ladies in the office had the personality of a paper cup. They weren't rude but didn't seem to care if we were there or not either. Got past that. We got a pull-through and were under a tree that was raining caterpillars. They were everywhere and it was disgusting. We left the next morning and had to rinse the caterpillars off the truck first. As we left, we pulled forward and apparently we were going the wrong way because the lady in the office came out to tell us that was a one way road and we should have gone around the block. Really? I'm sorry, but I wouldn't go back there if it was free. The grass areas were in bad need of a mowing and some of the campers looked like they had been there a long while. On the way there we passed several campgrounds on Lake Livingston that looked pretty nice. I'd spend the extra money next time. I think the Rainbow's End campground gives Escapees a tarnished name. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Travel Trailer.

Boy, we wanted to love this place but have to echo many of the comments of others. We are enthusiastic Escapees and plan to stay at as many Escapee parks as we can, as we travel around the country in a 43 foot rig, this year. This park is supposed to be the flagship, but it falls short. I think it is also expensive given what isn't included.

It is badly in need of a major refresh. The landscaping is tired, the roads in the camping areas need attention and most of the sites need to be regraded and either paved or have fresh gravel put in. The park also needs cable TV and/or a strong WIFI system. Fire ant nests are everywhere and I saw no effort to control them. The dog park is very basic and uninviting.

The park structural issues notwithstanding, we enjoyed the people, the clubhouse and the activities. Contrary to what one reviewer said, we had no trouble walking our dags anywhere, day or night, and the residents seemed very dog-friendly, too. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

The facilities at this park are satisfactory; however, this park is for senior citizens. The park even has a nursing home at the park for retired campers! There is nothing to do here unless you are elderly. There is bingo, potlucks, square dancing, and a thrift store. We joined escapees because we thought it was for all RVers, we were disappointed. And bored! We were supposed to stay 2 weeks, but we couldn't take it anymore and moved after 1 week. We won't go back. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here because we use the Escapees mail service. Being satisfied with that service and impressed by their website we did not check the reviews before we stayed - we should have. The lack of amenities and pride by the ownership of the Escapees National Headquarters is disappointing. It is the equivalent of a poorly maintained 1970's campground. All site but 2 are "gravel" with most gravel missing. There is little definition between what is a parking site and spaces between. They do not even supply a trash receptacle in the dog run. We would not stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

We opted for the sunny spot to make use of our solar. She mentioned it was near the road. I was OK with that but much later in the conversation it became clear we were in the more expensive area (not by much, so I didn't change my mind). The spots on the road are very spacious, but the road noise is one of the worst I have tried to sleep next to. It is a busy road with lots of 18-wheelers going 70 mph which is the speed limit! Lots of social activities (remember, if you are not 5 minutes early, you are late) and features (lending library, breakfast, movies, dancing lessons, computer group, etc). The grounds are meticulous. I was given conflicting information about converting from monthly to weekly; it is not yet resolved, but I am giving them credit for doing what was originally stated. Office help could not explain what one of the social events was nor provide a recommendation on where to walk dogs. I know many are volunteers, but it would be nice to hear "I don't know, but will ask around, come back in a bit." type of response. Outside of the Escapees' area, walking and biking in the hood is mostly impossible due to loose dogs (again, no points off, just letting you know). We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access into the park off Hwy. 146. Friendly & helpful staff at check-in. Our site was a long & wide pull thru that was slightly lower in front. The site was located between the pool & the CARE Center, rather than in the rv park area near Hwy. 146. Sites & roads in our area were fine gravel with no dust from traffic. Everyone was very friendly & we were invited to an ice cream social at the clubhouse. The only negative to the park is the lack of tv reception from the roof top antenna. We were only able to get 3 religious channels, 1 Spanish language channel, & 1 channel that only showed old sit-com reruns. We could not even watch an evening news/weather cast. Our site had no park wi-fi service, but we were able to use our mobile hotspot. We would return for a short stay. The lack of OTA tv would be the limiting factor. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been overnight here a few times and it was OK. We ask for a quiet area and got one every time but this last time. The main building has been freshly painted but it is still an older park and some resident owners take care of their places better than others. They have shaded sites and full or partial sun but all sites, except for two or three, are gravel and it gets dusty when the wind is blowing hard. For members, they are very reasonable for daily, weekly and monthly. We are members and like that they have events, social activities, laundry facilities and a weigh station but not much for children. This last visit we were planning to volunteer at the Care Center but too many responsibilities changed from the original job description and the site was so close to the main road that we didn't sleep from the all night 18 wheelers passing by. We left to stay at another quiet park. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

This was our first visit and to be honest it was somewhat of a disappointment and a little depressing. The check-in was acceptable and instructions on how to find our site were adequate. Most of the sites are gravel and have some shared utility hookups, which could be an issue. There is no Wi-Fi unless your site is right next to the check-in office. We walked around the park and noticed many of the homes there needed much maintenance. The office stated it was the owners' responsibility and not theirs. Something needs to be done as this is a definite negative for first time visitors. We most likely won't stay here again even though we are Escapees members. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.
