Love coming to this campground, our second visit. Nice large site, easy check-in with friendly staff. Great place for socializing and making new friends. Activities happen all the time here. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here because we use the Escapees mail service. Being satisfied with that service and impressed by their website we did not check the reviews before we stayed - we should have. The lack of amenities and pride by the ownership of the Escapees National Headquarters is disappointing. It is the equivalent of a poorly maintained 1970's campground. All site but 2 are "gravel" with most gravel missing. There is little definition between what is a parking site and spaces between. They do not even supply a trash receptacle in the dog run. We would not stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

We opted for the sunny spot to make use of our solar. She mentioned it was near the road. I was OK with that but much later in the conversation it became clear we were in the more expensive area (not by much, so I didn't change my mind). The spots on the road are very spacious, but the road noise is one of the worst I have tried to sleep next to. It is a busy road with lots of 18-wheelers going 70 mph which is the speed limit! Lots of social activities (remember, if you are not 5 minutes early, you are late) and features (lending library, breakfast, movies, dancing lessons, computer group, etc). The grounds are meticulous. I was given conflicting information about converting from monthly to weekly; it is not yet resolved, but I am giving them credit for doing what was originally stated. Office help could not explain what one of the social events was nor provide a recommendation on where to walk dogs. I know many are volunteers, but it would be nice to hear "I don't know, but will ask around, come back in a bit." type of response. Outside of the Escapees' area, walking and biking in the hood is mostly impossible due to loose dogs (again, no points off, just letting you know). We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Small state park is about 10 miles away (Lake Livingston State Park).

Easy access into the park off Hwy. 146. Friendly & helpful staff at check-in. Our site was a long & wide pull thru that was slightly lower in front. The site was located between the pool & the CARE Center, rather than in the rv park area near Hwy. 146. Sites & roads in our area were fine gravel with no dust from traffic. Everyone was very friendly & we were invited to an ice cream social at the clubhouse. The only negative to the park is the lack of tv reception from the roof top antenna. We were only able to get 3 religious channels, 1 Spanish language channel, & 1 channel that only showed old sit-com reruns. We could not even watch an evening news/weather cast. Our site had no park wi-fi service, but we were able to use our mobile hotspot. We would return for a short stay. The lack of OTA tv would be the limiting factor. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been overnight here a few times and it was OK. We ask for a quiet area and got one every time but this last time. The main building has been freshly painted but it is still an older park and some resident owners take care of their places better than others. They have shaded sites and full or partial sun but all sites, except for two or three, are gravel and it gets dusty when the wind is blowing hard. For members, they are very reasonable for daily, weekly and monthly. We are members and like that they have events, social activities, laundry facilities and a weigh station but not much for children. This last visit we were planning to volunteer at the Care Center but too many responsibilities changed from the original job description and the site was so close to the main road that we didn't sleep from the all night 18 wheelers passing by. We left to stay at another quiet park. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Ask for a quiet area. The main road is very busy and gets very noisy at night.

This was our first visit and to be honest it was somewhat of a disappointment and a little depressing. The check-in was acceptable and instructions on how to find our site were adequate. Most of the sites are gravel and have some shared utility hookups, which could be an issue. There is no Wi-Fi unless your site is right next to the check-in office. We walked around the park and noticed many of the homes there needed much maintenance. The office stated it was the owners' responsibility and not theirs. Something needs to be done as this is a definite negative for first time visitors. We most likely won't stay here again even though we are Escapees members. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

OK, we "pay" for the privilege of camping with Escapees! I have NEVER been treated so rudely & condescendingly, by office staff in our years of RVing. If I heard it once I heard it a half dozen times how busy they were & how the manager would not allow this or that OR she would charge us for this or that. Sites need lots of help. Very unlevel & in dire need of gravel. Traffic does not obey speed limit. Did not use baths or laundry. Pool looked nice & was used by several ladies. Tengo Internet - enough said! Not sure we would stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart in Livingston was closed... Had to drive 30 miles to closest WM

There have been some improvements here in the last couple of years. They have added a few "premium" sites, 2 back ins and one pull thru, now concrete. The pull thru is very shady. Of course, there is an additional charge for them, but worth it to us. The parks current manager is very knowledgeable about the computer system. Check in was prompt and no hassle. The RV section of the park was much cleaner than a couple of years ago, well tended by host workers. The neighborhood section of the park needs some attention. Things are starting to look tired and a few places look downright seedy. There were not as many "derelict" looking rigs in the RV sections as in previous visits, they seem to be keeping a handle on that better. Other than the nickel and dime-ing they do on pricing, ($1 for this, $5 for that....$3 a day for wifi, etc) it's a reasonably priced place to park. If you need RV service, West RV is right down the road and caters to Escapee Members. We would stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

It's a nice place to stay, very quiet. Sites are large with combination of gravel and dirt. The pool was closed and there weren't many activities that appealed to us, but the other campers were fun to get to know. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in Livingston, but do take time to eat at Florida's Kitchen for some of the best ribs you'll ever taste.

Home of the Escapees. We were a little disappointed, park is rather aged. Not a lot to do in the area. Office personnel unfriendly at best. Doubt that we will ever come back. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great park. We especially like the area that is known as 'the hill'. Spaces are very roomy with nice grass. The area known as 'the Oaks' has WiFi available. Escapees is an organization that really wants older RV'ers to remain active and healthy and there are a lot of activities. There is a very nice library, a game room, movie library, and even an ice cream stand. We will certainly be back and may spend the winter here. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an Escapee campground that is the headquarters for the Escapee club and also has a Care Center that helps members with their health problems. It is a nice park with lots of streets to walk on. The only problem is that NO ONE adheres to the speed limit and drive very fast throughout the park. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

Rainbow's End is the home location for Escapee's RV Club. The vast majority of the sites here are occupied by permanent residents or long term stays. There are, however, at least 50 spaces near the entrance that are for the use of short term campers. We stayed two nights in a level gravel pull thru with 50 amp, water and sewer. The campground is adequate, friendly and located about six miles from shopping in Livingston. The office could use some TLC but it certainly met all of our needs. Not attractive for kids but for the older crowd that seem to make up most of the membership is was a good stop. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.

We were in a pull through (92) site that was plenty long and wide & level. Rooftop dish, Verizon cell & hotspot worked well as did the utilities. Wife used the pool several times. Laundry was $1 to wash or dry. Road was gravel as was the site with grass between sites. Non Escapees can stay in Escapee parks, too. Staff was friendly. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is Escapees headquarters. They have a lot of activities to participate in (geared toward retirees), well kept facilities and pool, and it has a very social atmosphere. The downside is it is located in Livingston; not a lot of choices in shopping or nearby activities. The on site Care Center is a very big plus for the elderly and/or infirmed RVer. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Park in a Motorhome.
