WOW! despite the other reviews, we chose to stay here and had a completely different experience. So, looking at the fact that we were there "off season" vs the reviews in summer... there must be a big difference in having lots of traffic and messy campers in the summer. We found the place to be very clean and pleasant. There was no trash all around, the water was nice, the fishing was fun and pleasant.
There were a lot of big rigs there and most all of us had some problem with getting leveled (we had to try 5 sites to get one where we could level--- arriving in the dark made it harder). The other rigs had obviously used levelers as well as boards to shore up the rig to level.
The woman running the entrance the night we arrived was very nice; the woman the next day was rude and downright hateful.

Highly suggest NOT driving on around the lake thru the residential area with a motorhome and ESPECIALLY if towing--- very narrow and tight.

We can hardly wait to return and have a boat or kayak with us.
We got local tv (plenty of channels) but had almost no cell service-- Verizon : none, Grandson's ATT was always at 1 bar. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Motorhome.

It was very busy during our stay and most of the visitors piggy-backed and parked their extra vehicles on neighboring campsites. I didn't have enough room to properly park my truck. Campers were rowdy and we had to deal with loud music and UTVs into the wee hours. We even had other campers bumping into our trailer and arguing outside our windows from parties that got out of hand. The park police and camp host did nothing to keep things under control. The lake itself has much to offer. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Campground S appeared to be much quieter and not as crowded. I'll stay there next time to try to avoid the rowdy crowds.

Not a great place to stay. The main campground is A and B. Those sites were very close and didn't look too level. There was a live band playing on stage both days we were there. We stayed in campground S, which is across the lake from A and B. The music was at a comfortable level for us, but we were ACROSS the lake!! Would have been miserable to be stuck on that side. Note - this was not a publicized concert. We had no idea of the band until they fired up on Friday.

We would stay there again, but only on the S side. Also, this park DOES NOT take reservations, so for us we drive 2 hours with no guarantee of what is available when we get there.

Lake bottom is nasty, gooey mud that will stick you up to your knees. The S sites are right on the water, so not a bad place if you are just using the RV as a base camp for boats or jet skis. No picnic tables or shade included with your site, just a grassy parking spot. Our site was fairly level, but many others were so far off that they couldn't even get close to leveling their trailers. We did get rain, and most of the spots got really muddy, but it is lakefront so that's expected. We stayed in a fifth wheel. We would probably stay there again, just due to location, but definitely not high on my list to go back to. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is a dump and they don't care. It stays pretty full with locals during summer weekends and that is all they care about. They told me that most of the sewer connections don't work (don't know if they know which do and which don't). Lots of parties (rude, loud, drunks) and trashy grounds are about all it has to offer. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Motorhome.

This place is horrible. The pictures are clearly Photoshopped. The pull-throughs you share on some, and they are very tight. People are allowed to park wherever they want to, and if that means they want your front yard area, they take it. Trash everywhere, food thrown on ground. I will stay in a motel before I stay in this dump. Avoid it, not worth the money. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Motorhome.

I have been to many campgrounds, including working in a campground for 2 years. This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The ground was covered in old chicken bones, food, and other trash, and the bathrooms haven't been cleaned in a long time. It is obvious people go outside cause they don't want to go in the bathrooms. The few good points are they are open all night for registration, and there is a lake right there, although it's about what you would expect for West Texas. The RV spots look better; the tents were terrible. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Tent.

This park is located in one of the more scenic locations of the general area, and has a lot of potential, but unfortunately it appears to have a ways yet to go. Reservations are apparently not accepted at this time, according to their web site. On arrival, we paid for a "B" (non-paved, water/electric only, $20/night) spot. However, we found that the "B" area was so muddy that we were not brave enough to even drive the between-sites access roads for fear of getting stuck. Instead, we relocated to what was apparently an "A" site (paved, water/electric/sewer, $30/night). However, calling the "A" sites "paved" is a bit of a misnomer - the pavement is in such poor condition that it is rougher than many gravel sites we have stayed at in other parks. CAUTION: the entire area as of this writing are under construction - numerous unmarked deep holes & piles of dirt are all over, rendering much of the access, as well as the sites themselves, completely unusable!! When we finally found a site that appeared to be accessible, we found (after unhooking) that the electric hookups didn't work. As it was getting rather late, we elected to stay and "dry camp" on the site instead. Restrooms appeared clean and with new fixtures - puzzlingly though, showers and stalls don't have any doors at all. To their credit, the lady who checked us in was friendly and offered us a refund on account of the non-working electricity. Highly recommend calling ahead of time and checking on site construction & utility status if you are thinking about staying here. We camped at Buffalo Springs Lake in a Travel Trailer.
