Our rate reflects Passport America. This is a well maintained campground in a very quiet desert setting. The lady at check-in was friendly and helpful. Entry is paved but the interior roads and sites are gravel. Our site was a spacious and level pull through; big rig access was good. Plenty of space for our towed, so no need to unhook for a one night stopover. There was a wonderful view of the mountains, but our motorhome faced the wrong way, such a shame!  Bathrooms were a lovely southwest style but the tiny laundry was old, dirty and needed a major makeover, only 3 machines and one was broken. Pet friendly. Wi-Fi and cell were good. There are a couple of local food stores and restaurants in town and the historic Gage Hotel is well worth a visit. We would stay here again, it's not a destination resort but perfect for a one night stopover. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

This is a lovely park. The hotel park has a beautiful, large courtyard with tables and fireplace. We stayed only one night but would have loved to stay longer if schedule would have allowed. We had a nice pull-through site that allowed an easy set-up. Owners and staff were friendly and helpful owner invited people to join him for a look at the night sky and gave a brief class. Really enjoyed that and because of the location, the stars were brilliant! Rate was PA ($12.50). We will stay here again when in the area. This RV park is tastefully designed and well managed. All personnel were polite, friendly and helpful. The gravel sites are fairly large and most campers are mature adults looking to escape hustle and bustle. A great feature of the park is the relaxing low-light adobe courtyard. For stargazers, the owners have designed the lighting of the property to be low-key. Wi-Fi and cable TV worked well, and the restrooms were spotless. For those campers who might desire a change of scenery, the motel offers duplex cabins that look fantastic. From its retro highway sign to its classy courtyard and personal touches, this is a great stop. The nearby train tracks may bother some, but as a rail fan, it just added to the very cool atmosphere of this business. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Rate reflects Passport America discount. We stayed here one night before moving on to Big Bend National Park. There are only 5 long pull through sites and we were glad we had called ahead to reserve, as all of them filled up by 4:00 p.m. on a Monday night. Sites each have a picnic table, and are pretty close together, but we put our slides out with no problem and didn't feel crowded. A small storm came through shortly after we arrived and really kicked up the dust from the crushed rock, but passed quickly and settled into a very nice evening. There is no grass at the sites and the utilities are placed far to the rear of the sites, but we were able to stay hooked up because the interior roads are wide enough that we didn't cause an obstruction. Shower and bath were very small and old, but clean with great water pressure. We didn't have to pay extra for shower. We would stay here again for a short stay. Add extra 5 dollars per person for showers. Beautiful views from campsite. A perfect location before entering Big Bend NP. Nice, clean well kept campground. Would have rated higher if not for the added shower expense. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo
Date of Stay: December, 2013 - $13.00
Passport America rate. We stopped here for three nights to visit Big Bend National Park. The campgrounds are small but the grounds are crushed rock (this is desert country) with level sites. There is a shared courtyard (with motel) which has a rock fireplace and a huge fire ring in the middle of the enclosed courtyard. Sunsets and sunrises are lovely. Great Wi-Fi and cable TV are included. The restrooms are clean and quite nice. The laundry facilities could use some work. We will return if we get back to this part of Texas. Passport America rate. On our way to Big Bend NP we stopped here for one night. The host/owner was very friendly and helpful. The campground is small but the grounds are pleasant, sites mostly crushed rock. The motel is nice and a shared courtyard has a huge ramada with rock fireplace AND a huge fire ring in the middle of the enclosed courtyard. They will build a fire if requested. Sunsets are spectacular, the campground is mostly level and utilities are easy to reach. Great Wi-Fi and cable TV are included. Laundry and restrooms/showers are clean and modern. Union Pacific tracks directly across the road from campground not too bad, some night traffic through Marathon with required crossing horns. Easily could stay here and access eastern Big Bend NP if desired. We would return if we get back to this part of Texas. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

On our way to Big Bend National Park we stopped for one night on this campground. Very big pull thrus so you can leave your car on the back or in the front. Level spaces and in the evening, if you ask, they make a nice fire in a central fireplace. Very romantic. Dark skies at night. There are trains just near the road and they make noise, but it was not to bad. We sure come back if we have to make a stop over. Rate was PPA. This is a motel and RV park in Marathon one of the gateways for Big Bend National Park. It is good for an overnight or longer stay. We paid $12.50 with Passport America. There are 19 sites with full hookups and some tent sites. Cable and Wi-Fi are also offered. The sites are on ground hard pack dirt and it is close to town with some cute restaurants and two gas stations. On the grounds there is a bath house with one shower but it is clean. The motel is done in the Adobe style and there is an outdoor little park with an outside fireplace, wooden seats and cacti surrounding it. It is cute! If you want to sit by the fire at night they will light it for you. Very friendly and informative check in. This was a one night stop. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

This is a very friendly, small RV park with a beautiful courtyard including a bubbling fountain with a fire place and fire pit for everyone's' use. Cabins are also available. The sites are level and it is centrally located for an easy access to Big Bend National Park, Alpine, Marfa and Fort Davis. We experiences a mechanical problem with our motor home and they recommended Big Bend RV Supply which is located right in Marathon. The owner went out of his way to help us on New Years Eve. When we are in this area again we will stay here for sure! We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo

We enjoyed this park while visiting the Big Bend NP area. The sites are level, packed dirt and rock construction. We had no in or out problems with our 40'. The Wi-Fi worked well most of the time. The utilities worked well, but we did notice the power voltage was a little low at 108 the first day we arrived, it went to 120V the next day. They have a central gathering area and will have a nice fire in the fireplace most of the time. There is only one fuel station here and the prices are very high. Be aware that you could drive for 50+ miles between fuel stations on US90. There is also only one small grocery store and the prices are a little higher than the big chains, but reasonable. Be sure to get a pizza at Guzzi's, it's one of the best we have eaten. The office personnel was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. Stayed for 3 nights while visiting the Big Bend area. We chose this park from the reviews posted by others. The ONLY complaint is the noise from the train whistles. Seemed like they went by every two hours during the night! However, we wanted to be able to see the stars at night and we were very pleased with the subdued lighting of the park. Friendly staff, clean grounds and great location insure that we will stay here again. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

More than adequate for a stopover on the way to Big Bend. The grounds are a bit spartan, but that's typical of the entire area, not just this RV park. There were some trains, but I only heard one during the night I stayed; it probably varies. What I really appreciated about this park was the lighting. There was just enough to see the grounds by, but no insecurity lights glaring through my windows. One could easily stargaze from here. Staff was friendly. Wi-Fi worked well. If you like trains, you will love this campground as the train tracks are about 20 yards away from the camp sites. I would estimate that there are about 20 trains that come through per day, both day and night. I do like trains so these do not bother me. It is also right next to the road, but there is not much traffic (no big trucks) and almost no traffic at night, so not a problem for us. The campground is not much more than a gravel parking lot, but not much else is possible out here. All of the utilities work well. The campground is often almost empty so you can pick your site. The campground is adjacent to and part of the motel with a nice courtyard. One night we were here there was a wedding in the courtyard, but they were quiet, and it was not a problem. One great thing about the park is that it is dark. Thank goodness they have not put up a lot of lights, so that you can still see the great night sky out in west Texas. There is now a pretty good pizza place in town (Guzi Pizza) where you can get a take-out or eat-in pizza. We have stayed here a number of times and will definitely be back when we are in the area. The rate reflects a Good Sam discount. We camped at Marathon Motel and RV Park in a Motorhome.Undo
