Beautiful park, seems to be much more upscale than most Rio Grande Valley parks. North side is owner occupied and rented with sheds and casitas and higher priced. West side has large pull-throughs with lawns and friendly neighbors. I would not go to East side- oldest part of the park and run down. Two dog parks but overrun with tiny dogs and not too friendly for our golden retriever or other big dogs. No picnic tables at sites. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

We were warmly greeted at registration and provided with a packet of information that insured you would find something to do. This is a huge park with numerous activities planned during the Winter Texan season. The new Hynes Event Center is great for concerts and the onsite restaurant dishes up some very good, reasonably priced meals. Internet is delivered to each rig via a wi-fi cable modem that is provided during registration. Internet performance however was a mixed bag even after the IT tech made up all new cabling for us. Site width in the SW section is a bit closer than we prefer at approximately 30'. Site depth was also a bit close for a 39' rig and even though it's offset you're rather near the rear of your neighbor's RV. The grass on both sides of our site was sparse and mainly dirt. Although this was not typical of all sites it got muddy when it rained. Our site had an uphill sewer connection located clear to the rear of the RV on the door side. It could only be reached with at least 30' of sewer hose running under the RV - very inconvenient! Water pressure was reasonable and 50A power was stable. The main pool is beautiful with cabanas and lounge chairs available for relief from the wind and sun. The two exercise facilities were well equipped, clean and fully functional. Overall this is a very well run park that is nicely maintained and offers something for everyone. If we could ever get a site in the newer North section, it would score a 10. We will come back again. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Fifth Wheel.
The levee running the South and East perimeter of the park is great for walking and offers numerous opportunities for bird watching. The Las Palomas Wildlife Refuge bordering on the SW corner of the resort also provides great hiking and birding experiences. The Llano Grande golf course was in good shape and there were numerous options for group outings every week. If you're a woodworker, the shop is very well equipped and the men in charge are masters of the craft.

Big rig friendly with level sites. Special was free 1st month site rent including electricity. Cable, wifi, showers, laundry, two exercise rooms, and two large dog parks were all good. Lots of activities for the season including water aerobics, shuffleboard, knitting/crochet, quilting, weekly church service, and many other activities. Weekly dances, concerts, karaoke, fish dinners, plays, and many other scheduled events. Great for riding bicycles. Strong wind most of the time so beware of using your awning. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Travel Trailer.
Walmart, JCPenney, Petco, and restaurants were close. Easy to get to shopping and other towns on Interstate 83, Business 83, or frontage road. Festivals in towns were interesting, Mexico was 8 miles away.

Stayed here 3-weeks, got 2 of those for free since we were 1st timers. Loved it here, definitely a strong contender for an extended stay next winter. Sites were big, wide, level with easy service access. Lots of amenities such as pools, hot tubs, shuffle board, rec hall, golf course etc.. Should never be bored in this park. Staff & fellow residents very friendly & helpful. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

The best overall RV Resort we have stayed at so far. Other parks that call themselves resorts can learn from this place. Great facility with large lots, best dog park ever. Unmatched entertainment with the new event center. While we were there we saw National Acts like the Oak Ridge Boys and the Bellamy Brothers and 2 great tribute bands from Nashville Eagles"7 Bridges Road and Beatles "Liverpool Legends". Also top notch local variety/dance bands. Plenty of on site food with the Cafe and Sports bar and 3 heated pools. More activities than you can do in just the month we stayed. Close by to all standard restaurants, grocery stores etc. Other than a few super windy days it was perfect. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

Wow! We were lucky enough to stay in the Golf Resort section due to our size. We have never had such a great site! The concrete pad was extra large and flat! It's the first time we didn't have to put lumber down to level the Truck Conversion. What a treat. The site was surrounded by grass at the end of a cul de sac. It was very quiet and peaceful. We used the gym in the old section at first. It was adequate. Then we used the new gym, which was wonderful. It looked out over the dog park, which was very entertaining. We did have trouble with our card passes for the gym, and had to go to the office 4 times to get new ones. We also had a bad time with the modem they gave us to use for wifi while we stayed here. We had to go back to the office 5 times before we finally got one that worked. They had to send a tech to our site to connect a new cable for the internet. In their defense, they were putting in a new system and they were experiencing a few glitches, which is only natural. After that it was the best internet connection we've ever had. Imagine having your own modem in your rig! Excellent idea! The cable TV was very fuzzy. There was no noise from any trains, planes, or highways. Be careful of the bugs there, there are biting ants and flies! The older section of the resort looks sad, old and run down, with RV's parked close together. The "workampers" in the office were not very knowledgeable about the resort, which was frustrating. But it was not enough to keep us from wanting to go here again. Just a note, it was windy every day of the 6 weeks we were there. It helped us from getting too hot. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.
Casa de Marisco is a wonderful Mexican restaurant close by. Lots of flea markets around.

This is a 55 plus park. Clean, friendly, and well organized. Many folks stay the winter and some RVers stop in on their way to another area. The signage to this park is non existent and this is a problem as the GPS always takes you to somewhere other than this park...SIGNS would be helpful on the main highway in and at the road on Mile2W...your receipt will state it is a problem but who has their receipt while driving! We stayed here for 5 months. TV and Wifi were the best I have seen in an RV park. They were upgrading so sometimes shut down...but when working it was really good. A large park with over 1100 sites/users. Reserve early for J/F/M they were full! This park is located near the State park a well renown birding park. "great location" quiet and away from traffic noise and neighbourhoods. Golf course is OK due to drought conditions it is hard and dry but challenging.... We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.
About 20 minutes to Progreso Mexico, shopping, bars'n'restaurants, and great dentists...always a fun day trip. Nana's Taqueria is a great little Mexican restaurant in Mercedes Tx. on International Blvd 1015.. Harlingen is about 20 minutes for great shopping. McAllen and Pharr will find even more shopping and a Costco....South Padre about 1-1/2 hours to beach.

Large gated rv resort, 3 heated pools, large long level pullthrus, beautiful new event center. This is an awesome place to hang out for the winter. Lots of activities on site, & of course, close proximity to Harlingen, McAllen & 20 minutes to Nuevo Progresso Mexico. Be aware that the wind is fairly strong from time to time (30 mph), so moniter use of your patio awning. Will definitely be back. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

We travel to the Rio Grande Valley for short stays to visit family. We have stayed at several parks. Llano Grande is by far the best park that we have stayed at in the RGV. We stayed on the newer North side which are ownership properties. Sites are in the 75-80 ft pull thru and about 45-50 feet wide with wide level concrete pads and nice grassy areas. Many of the lots have been improved with nice small structures for storage and sitting. A few of the sites have had permanent dwelling installed in lieu of a Motorhome/RV Pad. I would not want to buy a lot for my Motorhome only to find that my neighbor is not another RV/Motorhome but a house. Since we were visiting family we did not take advantage of the many facilities and programs available. Most of the people there are "Winter Texans" escaping the cold. Only recommendation - There is curbside trash pick up twice a week. However there is no where to take trash on off days. Trash facilities for dog pick up would have been helpful. We would recommend Llano Grande and will stay there again. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

Great park. Rate based on monthly stay. Large, clean, lots of activities. Residents and staff very friendly. An excellent park for extended stay. Close to Progresso Mexico and outlet stores. Good restaurants and shopping nearby. If all goes well, we plan on long term next year. A bit more money than other area parks, but worth the extra money. North section the newest. We stayed in West section which was better than a lot of parks. We have stayed in East section, the oldest, and would not be our choice in any event. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Fifth Wheel.
Day trip to South Padre Island.

This is the first time we have ever stayed at a resort style park and it was a wonderful experience. I am a quilter and what I was able to do with the group paid for the trip on its own. The swimming pools are fabulous as are the hot tubs. The park is very bicycle friendly. There is so much going on that it would take more than a month being here to figure it all out. Would certainly consider coming back here. Terrific experience. The electric is extra and the WiFi is free and fabulous. The best WiFi we have ever had and that is important to us as Canadians for staying in touch with family. The owner of this park and his employees need to be congratulated on getting the RV experience totally right here!! Recognizing some of the discount clubs might be a plan for even a couple of days of stays over a week. Just a thought!! Our rate was was the per diem of the 28 day month of February. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Fifth Wheel.

We were very impressed with this park when we first arrived, but as the month wore on, our enthusiasm ebbed ever so slightly. The park is divided into three sections, east, west and north. The north is the newest section, mostly spacious, pull-thru sites and has it's own pool and hot tub. It also costs about $100 a month more. There are lots of sites in the older sections that are level, plenty big enough and sometimes even pull-thru. And besides, the older sections are much closer to the activity centers. The pool in the north section may be new, but it's also out in an open field with little protection from the wind. The adjacent golf course is pretty basic and charges residents about $29 for 18 holes. You can do a lot better on the price by going to an online golf site to get a tee time. The WiFi is the best we have ever encountered on the road. The half-mile road leading to the park is a little rough and is also posted as having an 8-ton limit, which means most of the rigs in the park got there illegally. The water is very hard and has a bad odor most days, but they do sell drinking water for 25 cents a gallon. Electricity is extra and cost us just over $100 for the month. Everyone seemed very friendly, but we quickly found that the cliques, particularly in the older sections, are well established and hard to crack. We were totally overwhelmed by all the activities going on in the park. One month wasn't long enough to sort them all out. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.

As others stated there's 3 areas: North, West, & East. I've stayed here 3 or 4 months for the last 5 years in the North section. Facilities are outstanding. Roads are asphalt, pads are level, long, and concrete. Hot tub and pool is large and in the ground. Tennis courts are in two locations. Prices are based on the monthly rate that varies from low in the off season to the highest in Feb. Electricity costs us around $55 but we're in a 30 ft RV. Motor coaches seem to run around $100 per mo. About 25 ft of green grass lies between the pads. Pads are about 15 ft wide and 65-70 ft long. All the roads are wide and pull-thrus are easy access even for 45 ft buses. Motor homes and 5th wheels are the most popular choice. About half of the winter months are filled with Canadians. Friendliness is probably more personal. If you go out and visit there's plenty of people to talk to. The water is hard and doesn't really taste good. I'm not a water drinker so it doesn't bother me. Tall palm trees are spaced 2 per green spots. The view in the park is outstanding. The wind blows almost daily, but it probably holds down the bugs. They aren't really a problem. We plan on returning here in Dec 2014 so that's the best recommendation. The West section is cheaper, but personally I don't care for it. It's more crowded. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Travel Trailer.

Although there are a lot of RV parks up and down Hwy 83, one who had visited them all said this was probably the best. East section is the original part with very narrow, short RV spaces. North section is the newest with nice landscaping and apparently level cement pads. We stayed in West section on what used to be a strip of premier sites. Way out of level that took the front wheels of the coach off the ground. Moved one lot to the right, kept wheels on ground but created a massive first step. Wi-Fi was excellent. The water pressure was good but the taste was atrocious. Activities geared to the older crowd. While the park is nicely maintained, surrounding area is unattractive. Rate based on monthly charge. We camped at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club in a Motorhome.
