You might as well park at Walmart....stuck in the middle of a concrete jungle. We probably could have changed spots but it wouldn't have mattered. Had a relative stop by to visit who was handicapped...parked in the open spot next to us (the park was only 1/3 full...maybe) management came by and told us he could not park there. There was no marked ADA accommodations for parking in the camping area....he was only there for 3 hours...THEN they wanted to charge us $10for his entrance. It was not gated so there is no control with who enters or leaves the park. Couldn't use the fire ring because the spots are so close you might set your rig on fire....NEVER stay here. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here several years ago under a different name, but it's good quality hasn't changed. One of the better KOA's. Easy off of Hwy 105 and plenty of room for parking at the registration office. Staff guided us to our site, after hours, even tho they could have left 20min earlier at closing time. The pull thru sites are plenty long, wide and level, but drop off on ea. end due to being on a hillside. This can make leveling tricky. All utilities are up to spec and conveniently located. This is a large park and with all it's amenities, could be considered resort class. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here several times in the past and this park's environment has definitely changed. It's a large and well designed park that remains a relatively decent stay for the occasional campers. However, subtle changes have decreased this park's attractiveness for full-timers. As in the past, we opted to stay here for nearly 3 weeks, as we use the opportunity to order things we need. However, we learned that the new management will no longer accept packages. There use to be fun signs posted near the fish ponds, and the cabins had clever names instead of numbers. All the fun signage is now gone and the cabins are "Cabin-1, Cabin-2" etc. Even though a search for wifi shows some 23 different routers, the access is extremely spotty and often non-existent. They either will not link, or are so incredibly slow that they are essentially useless. I'm not talking streaming here! We couldn't even load email or simple webpages. Nor did the cable TV work. After I told management about it, they sent someone right out to check the cable signal. There was none. After finding the cable junction box full of ants and dirt, he said he would be back to kill the ants and fix the cable. Yet, after nearly 3 weeks, we still had no cable. Furthermore, the ants on and around our site were so bad that they inundated our coach! That was exacerbated by the fact that when the grass was mowed on the very first day, the side discharge industrial mower was pointed right at our space, inundating our steps, rug, wheel covers, chairs, and everything else we had outside with dirt and grass clippings. That no doubt helped create the environment for fire ants, pharaoh ants, and every other form of ant known to man. Bottom line... we looked forward to moving on. And, it's quite likely that on our next stop in the area, we'll be looking for a different place to stay. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is actually near the small town of Montgomery, which is an historic and fun town with cute shops and wineries. It's also close to Lake Conroe, with all of its waterfront restaurants and activities. Keep in mind, however, that this park is neither close to Houston or close to I-45.

We stayed at this KOA for the Heartland Owners Club Rally of South Texas. The facility is huge and the sites are well spaced for a KOA. The grounds were well kept. We had good water pressure and electricity was solid at the site. (We were in site 110). Cable TV was very "snowy". T-Mobile cell signal was strong - 5 bars. The only thing I didn't like was the curb you had to drive up on to get into the site pad. It was about 3.5 inches tall - not sure what they did it that way. We would stay here again - nice place. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The love bugs were swarming for our trip up to the park. The staff allowed anyone who wished to wash the front of the vehicle. That's an accommodation I am not accustomed to at RV parks. Sites were all concrete with picnic tables and fire pits. While the sites were level, the access to some of the sites is pretty steep, so I recommend disconnecting a tow vehicle before getting to the site to prevent dragging the towing mechanism. Several meeting areas are available with standard kitchen appliances. The oven in the one we used was not calibrated well and so baking times were much longer than anticipated. Bring all of your utensils and cleaning products; none available in the kitchen. Staff was very friendly. Lovely scenery as there are two lakes on site; catch and release fishing allowed. Nice, covered swimming pool. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a wolf rescue facility within driving distance. Well worth the trip. Also, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville (about 14 mi from the campground) is absolutely beautiful. It is styled after the painted churches in the Hallettsville, Shiner area.

The Good: Very nice level, concrete, pull thru sites with 50A elec, cable, water and sewer. Nice recreational area with covered pool, horseshoes, kids bounce, tennis courts, tetherball, and more. ...... The Bad: A NIGHTCLUB-LIKE VENUE at the front of the property WITH BOOMING BASS thump, thump, thumping into the wee hours of the night and impossible to sleep. If you stay here, be sure to ask whether or not the club will be "hopping" if you want any peace and quiet at all. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Decide if you want to be near the (loud) playground, and/or the LOUD dance hall at the front of the property. We travel without kids and prefer not to be near the screaming playground or the thumping nightclub, but wound up right next to both! (Note to self NEXT TIME ASK!!!) Public toilets were nasty and stopped up.

FMCA rally rate. we have stayed here many times. Park well maintained and staff very friendly. Street & parking pad sites are concrete with grass in between. Close to quaint town of Montgomery and short drive into Conroe...Lots of shopping, restaurants, all along hwy 105 in both directions and Lake Conroe can be seen from hwy with access...Sites are well spaced apart. We had a end site... We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are cute well maintained cabins, many front on ponds. Easy in and out of facility. Not any shade. Several rally halls. Full time residents up on the hill away from the transiet . Large play area for children. Activity room, enclosed pool and side walks. No lending or book exchange. Check in is easy they escort you to your site and help you get hooked up. There is traffic on hwy 105, so check out the layout.

Had to find different RV park. Wi-Fi was basically non-existent, unable to get on 98 percent of the time. The TV connection is very poor, fuzzy channels and the charge you $30 a month for crap. Nice concrete sites but definitely not worth what they charge. Would recommend anyother campground. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a very large park with two dog parks, one very large one and one small one on opposite sides of the park. There are several ponds with a lighted walkway on one of them, a large recreation area with a sports court, jump pillows (which I've never seen before), a playground, and an indoor pool. As others have mentioned, there is quite a curb to get over to get into your site. There are only three bath houses, which seems too few for such a large park. During the day it seems they guide you to your site. We arrived after-hours, and it was a bit difficult to find our site in the dark. The staff has been helpful and courteous. We will probably stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed here many times and love it. Sites are roomy and level. All concrete. Staff is always courteous and helpful. Restrooms/showers are clean and always in working order. Two good-sized dog parks. There's a little general store on-site, and tons of stuff in nearby Conroe and Montgomery. Not a woodsy, outdoorsy type of campground, more of a resort. They also have a pool, hot tub, lots of kids activities, but I've never used them. The facility is very large, so it's easy to get a good walk in after dinner. I think cable TV is available, but you're close enough to Houston to get most networks over the air. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Montgomery (5 minutes) is a quaint little town, with a small-town grocery and several interesting places to eat. They often have holiday celebrations, and we always go to the July 4th parade. Conroe (15 minutes) has all the amenities of a big city - groceries, restaurants, big-box stores, etc. We like to watch the July 4th fireworks over the lake.

Stayed for two nights in a 40' 5th wheel while visiting friends in the area. Front desk folks were friendly and helpful. We were escorted to our site. Sites and roads are all paved, but the roads need some work and have some serious potholes. Site was plenty long enough for 5er and truck. Utilities clean and functional, although the sewer connection was far enough away that I had to dig out my sewer extension hose for the first time in 10 years! We actually liked the park a lot, but downgraded for the condition of the road and the VERY slow (almost unuseable) WIFI - seems that's the case in almost every park we visit these days. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart close by (also the best diesel price in the area). Very convenient to Lake Conroe. We visited the "Cork This" Winery in Montgomery (less than a mile away) and found great wine and a nice tasting room. Avoid site 229 - there is a large drain in the road at the site entrance that made entering and leaving the site a real challenge.

The park is a good stop over park and/or a place for quick get away, but if you want a nature type park, keep going. The park is right off a busy highway close to the city of Conroe. While we were camping here, we consistently heard traffic and other distracting noises.

The park accommodations are nice and if the geographic location of the park was set in a more rural setting, it would rank much higher in our opinions. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.
