18 RV Parks near Mountain Home, Texas
Oct 2017 - $10.00
First I will say: This is a beautiful setting and a really nice RV park with good facilities. Our rate was based on a month. It is located about 18 miles south of Kerrville and 8 miles north of Medina.
However, we would suggest not coming in from the north. Pulling your RV down highway 16 rom Kerrville would be a challenge, especially for a big rig. It is one curvy, hilly road! We intentionally went out of our way to come in from the south, and were glad we did. Would go so far as to say, driving thru the Rockies wasn't any worse.
A negative to some/positive for others: no cell service and no Verizon mifi service. The park does have free wifi and it is about the best I have ever found in any rv park. My phone and Consumer Cellular service does not have wifi calling capabilities, which is what is needed for most visitors. We were here a month and found not having cell phone service a little inconvenient. Cable tv was fine.
Another thing that is a neg/pos: those same curvy/hilly roads are loved by motorcyclists. Many stay in the very nice cabins that the park has to rent. Nothing against cyclists, but be ready to hear them coming and going at all hours. They don't think about the "quiet" time of 10pm to 8am.
If not for these 2 things, I would give this park a resounding 10. The staff are super nice. They have a restaurant, the Koyote Grill, which has great burgers and pizza, and on Fridays a fish/chic tender buffet that was excellent. The camp store sells basics.
Roadways in the park are very adequate. The sites are level, long and wide with packed gravel, concrete patios, picnic table, fire-ring. There is parking space for an extra car. Good utility hookups. Great dog area. Beautiful walking/hiking trails and one of the prettiest pool and patio areas I have seen. So, even with the little inconvenience and bike noise, we like this park and would go back. - JudynJoe
Sep 2017 - $59.00
We had a great time here Medina Highpoint. My wife and our 8 year old son spent Labor Day Weekend as guests this year. The staff is fantastic along with a good rotation of live music and food options at the restaurant. Outdoor music stage with tables and a view that is intoxicating. Spacious park and the RV portion was nice. Stayed in pull through with all the necessary hookups. Could use some more shade trees, but view all around is the trade-off. We spent a lot of time at the pool and hiked to the two observation decks. Killer views! We'll be back & the only reason for the 9 and not 10 stars, is to leave room to keep getting better:).Wi-Fi is weak out here, which if you plan to be outdoors the whole time is great, but i needed to do some work while there and had a hard time getting a very strong Wi-Fi signal and there is zero phone service out where so know that ahead of time, so you are not surprised. Manager and the staff are all awesome! Thanks for a great long weekend! We'll be back! - cbpierce69
Jul 2016 - $13.00
Stayed for the first time last week in site for back-in against the hill.
The views are tremendous and wildlife galore. In the morning, watching the herds of deer walking through the park was fantastic. Beautiful area to take lots of dog walks. The Friday night catfish dinner good, but the cook got sick and apparently not much of a back up system in place for this. So we made the 60 minute round-trip drive to Bandera and bought our barbeque provisions for Saturday night dinner. At outdoor music area/stage, in the heat of dusk, employee poured a lot of gas on the open fire-pit (by the stage) and lit it----needless to say it was smoky, nauseating and we had to move. Infinity pool was packed with big family groups and pretty dirty, but refreshing. Would like to try this place in cooler weather, because very little shade where most RVs park.
There is minimal cell coverage at this park, but staff will get a message to you from their toll-free #, if necessary. Manager and office staff great! - ALively
Nov 2018 - $51.00
This park is genuine representation of the Texas Hill Country. The location is peaceful. There are 12 sites, all back-in, no pull-thru. The RV sites are caliche base and fairly level and spaced far apart. Water pressure is great at around 40psi. Electricity pedestal is close and in great condition. Sewer connection is easily accessible. The swimming pool was clean, but closed for the winter. Hot tub was clean and open. Property has game-proof fence so you will see black buck and quality white tail deer and turkey. Adjoining property has axis and fallow. The immediate adjoining property has a mature female, juvenile bull and yearling Watusi cows. We enjoyed our stay and plan on making it a frequent getaway. - MobileScout38BWQS
Oct 2018 - $30.00
We stayed here with a large group, and then stayed on a few more days to see the area. We thought the facilities were plenty large for our ice cream social for our group of 90+ people. It was a good base to visit many other attractions in the area. The owners were very nice about extending our stay on a day to day basis. There are 3 parallel rows, the last row (sites 61 to 72) back up to the deer feeder area. Deer sleep in the field at night so don't be startled by them! There is one row perpendicular to these 3 (sites 46 to 60), most of these back up to the goat pen. The goats can be noisy but they are so fun to watch! The entrance is impossible to miss coming from Ingram, very open and lots of flags. From Mountain Home, it's a little less obvious, slow down and watch for it. - janci
May 2018 - $29.00
Came for a large rally (60 +/- rigs) and spent 5 nights. Sites are concrete, long enough for rigs and vehicles. Grounds relatively clean except for all the deer poop (you'd find new on your site every morning). Laundry facility was clean and in working order. Western Town Rally Hall was interesting, lots of antique decorations in one room, a kitchen in the next and a dance hall in the 3rd. One would think plenty of room for a rally group, but with over 100 people in attendance, we couldn't all fit in 1 room and trying to hear announcements or what not was difficult as speaker would have to go room to room. They need a larger, more open area in my book. - Activity Director - retired
May 2018 - $26.00
This park is a well kept 'secret'. Set in a beautiful Pecan Orchard we stayed here 3 nights using this as a base to see lovely Kerrville and also go across to Fredericksburg. The park does have long concrete sites with FHU although we used a back-in site with still plenty of space. Picnic table in generous space between sites. Deer come in the morning and evening and ponies are in the adjacent field. Phone reception good with OK antenna reception. Lovely owner and staff. We stayed 2 nights using Passport America ($26) and 1 more night using Good Sam ($40). So quiet and yet only 6 mile to Ingram and then into Kerrville. Highly recommend this park for convenience and using as a base to visit Fredericksburg. - OzFrosty
Oct 2011 - $15.00
Price reflects Passport America rate. Just a very basic park, no amnesties to speak of and very hard to maneuver a large RV around the road. One night was OK but I would not stay any longer. Dogs were running all over the place and several piles of their business were seen. Missed the entrance to the park and had to go all the way into town to turn around. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone both times we called. Camp host was very friendly. I think we would pick a different place next time. - StarlifterFE
Apr 2011 - $15.00
This is a Passport America rate. Most of the sites are permanent/seasonal. While there are no activities, etc., if you are looking for a quiet park - this is it. It's close to many attractions: Fredericksburg, Bandera and the Wine Trail to mention a few. Many very good local restaurants nearby. Laundry was very nice. The only drawback was there is no over the air national TV station. However, you can get ION, RTV and a couple others. - Gypsy Jane
Dec 2007 - $11.00
This is a basic RV park that meets our requirements for an overnight stop. We would not stay here much longer than that. It is about 8 miles off I-10. Rate reflects the Passport America discount. - Toni L
Nov 2017 - $16.00
Nice small private RV park. Gravel roads with level back in and pull thru sites with full hook ups. Lots of trees and grass between sites and overlooking a river. Elec and water pressure good. Good Verizon cell and 4G signal. Cable TV. Owner friendly and helpful. Park clean and well maintained, but no facilities. Difficult to find. Entrance to park on Old Ingram road, but RV park office 100 feet away in a small office building. Will stay there again. Passport America $16 CASH only. - Pepper Dan
Feb 2017 - $15.00
We are in a 36 foot fifth wheel, the GPS brought us to the entrance to the park but in order to register you need to walk back 3 buildings to the office. No big deal though, the owners are very easy going, cash only using PA discount. Cable was free and it worked fine, no antenna TV available here. We stayed in site 16 which is a pull through just long enough for my rig with 30 amp service. The grounds are kept clean and maintained, the other campers/residents are nice and quiet. Water pressure is good. We stayed 3 nights, and I would do it again. - Diablo
Aug 2016 - $15.00
We have stayed here before. We have family in the area so this suits us just fine. )See my review from Jan 2015.)
Road work is completed. Quiet park and nice view of the river. No facilities. Most of the park is filled with long term residents. We stayed in site 11 a pull thru 50 AMP/W/S. We are 40 ft. - M.Register
Nov 2018 - $45.00
First class in every way. A park like this would cost $90/night in California. Excellent facilities, stuff to do including fishing, expertly maintained.Sites are beautiful, with large level concrete pads and easy access. Pads are bordered by healthy grass with rock on the ends. No bare dirt anywhere, except in well planted flower beds. I will stay here again. - John Zumwalt
Nov 2018 - $39.00
FMCA Rally..but we have stayed here many times. We would rate #1 in Texas. - Oooooooo
Sep 2018 - $55.00
Very nice pull in site facing creek. Decent spacing between sites. Only real complaint is wifi would not give out ip address so therefore not usable. - rockhill
Nov 2018 - $40.00
Access to the park is good. Paved all the way. Signage is good. Check in was reasonably quick and very informative. This is a gated park. An access code was provided at check in. Parameter roads are concrete, asphalt and if you cross the bridge to the island tenting area, hard packed gravel. Our site, 27, was a back in overlooking the Guadalupe River. It came with a table, power (30), water, sewer, cable, Wifi that was iffy at times and a small patio. Spacing is quite close but we plenty of room for our opposing slides and awning. There are wider spaced areas available. I think they are called the Deluxe Riverside. Our site worked well for us though. If you are not self contained getting to the bathrooms could be a challenge. They are located at the office quite a way up a hill. We did look in on them and they were clean and well appointed. I was amazed to learn that this park was under two feet of water just over a month ago. There is still some evidence of the major flooding that took place in this area but the cleanup has been looked after very quickly. Some river back restoration and remediation work is still taking place but they are 95% done. We happened to be here during Thanksgiving and the park hosted a Pot Luck dinner. We met some fine people staying here and the food was wonderful. We used this park as a base to tour the area. We did not see a playground but the kids seemed to have a good time playing by the river and using the wide open spaces on the island. There are no restaurants or services within easy walking distance but all services are available just a short drive away. This park delivered everything as promised. We paid a weekly rate of $30.00 night and feel we received good value for our dollar. We would return in a heart beat. - Rollin Ollens
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Nice park we're staying 3 nights. Pool is very small. If you think about coming here, make sure you ask for the back in sites along the canal, there's shade, otherwise you are in the sun. I had requested the back in site, but didn't get one. But that's okay!!! Staff is very helpful, premises is clean and well kept. Very quiet. Will come again but make sure we can have a site with more shade. - Cjomolly
Mar 2018 - $15.00
By the River RV Park and Campground is located off the Junction Highway so GPS devices will have no problem getting you to the park. The front desk people were great at checkin. We had a nice pull thru that was long enough for both the RV and truck. The site was mostly gravel. The hookups were convenient. We had a lot of rain during our stay and we wish there was a little more gravel but the park in our area drained pretty good. We had a good line of sight for our roof mounted satellite dish. By the River RV Park and Campground is located on an arm of the Guadalupe River. There are a lot of walking trails and a bridge to the island created by the arm as it exits and then rejoins the Guadalupe River. There are a lot of nice parks in Kerrville and we would stay here again. In fact we will be back in December of this year. - Bob & Jo
Nov 2018 - $40.00
We arrived here after a long day traveling. This was the closest RV Park that our GPS showed. We called to make sure they could accommodate us. Just a FYI, we don't usually stay at KOAs as they cater to families and we, being retired, would rather stay at quiet, non kid friendly parks. We were met at the entrance and guided to our site, 37, which was a graveled pull through. It came with a very weathered table, power, water, cable but no sewer. It was long enough that we would not have to disconnect if we didn't want to and wide enough for our opposing slides. The host just told us to get set up and take a breath. When we were ready to check in just come over to the office and compete the transaction. Huge points for reading our mood. We were just looking for a quiet place to hang our hats and this place fit the bill in every way. We did check out the washrooms and showers. They were clean and up to date. There is a well stocked store on site and as well they have gasoline, diesel and propane for sale. A number of permanents live here but all sites were neat and tidy. There are no restaurants within walking distance but all services are available a short drive away. We do not have a KOA Value card did not receive any discounts. We paid $40.00 per night and feel that we received good value for our dollar. We would return if in the area. - Rollin Ollens
Nov 2018 - $36.00
The park is a typical rustic Texas park. It is next to I10 and very easy to get to. Camp site was level with dirt & gravel and easy to hookup. It had 30-50 amp service. Parking was easy and our pull-through was amply long enough for our 40ft motorhome towing vehicle. There were some trees around the park but we were able to get satellite reception with no difficulty. Good Sprint and ATT service. They have both diesel and gas with reasonable prices. Will definitely stay here again when in the area. - don-marg
Apr 2018 - $38.00
This is very clean park. We were in site #3 so we were off the hwy and it was nice and quiet. The staff were very helpful. The grounds are well kept. Most sites have a good amount of shade. The park office is also a convenience store and there is a very large laundry mat in she same building. - Bahama

Mar 2018 - $46.00
This is a very well run park. We stayed during Spring Break. This park is perfect for family fun. There is so much for children to do outside. Pools, river, trampoline, mini golf, etc. We saw children having so much fun at this park. We asked to be parked at the back of the park so it would be quite area. No kids with us. We were escorted to our site. There is a nice cement picnic table and fire ring. I did also look at the rec hall and saw the staff cooking pancakes for everyone that wanted to eat breakfast. Good store on site also. Close to lots of stores and restaurants. We loved this park. - Linda Griff
Feb 2018 - $15.00
We rented one of their cheapest sites for a month. Site was a real bargain basement spot. No grass, plenty of burrs for the dog to step on, overgrown bushes. Looks like they were cleaning up others and had not gotten to this one yet. Very quiet, very friendly staff. A wonderful place for kids. A good place for adults when the kids aren't there. Little to no parking near the main facilities makes it difficult to use them if you are parked on the "back forty". - GOTTOYS
Dec 2017 - $50.00
Right on the Guadalupe River, but you can't really see it from your site. Take a walk down the nature path - it's about a 1-mile loop. We don't have kids, so we didn't check on all those activities. Showers and restrooms were clean. Site needed some leveling side-to-side. Very long asphalt site. Concrete patio. Very quiet when we were there in December. Verizon cell service good at campground, spotty in some other areas of Kerrville. Satellite good. Small store (Ranger station) on-site. Lots to do in town. - Quartermoon
Mar 2013 - $22.00
BEWARE of the tree overhanging the main road that is too low for large rigs. This park is definitely not big rig friendly even though the owner assured me when I made a reservation that there would be no problem for our size unit. We have a 37' fifth wheel and the tree overhanging the main road put an 11 foot tear in our roof. All but two of the sites appeared to be occupied by permanent residents. Some of the trailers were quite old. The bathrooms were old and not very clean. The 50 amp plug at our site did not work so we had to use the 30 amp plug. The cable wires along the back of the sites are very low and was laying on top of our roof. Many trees and large rocks at entrance to the sites make these sites very difficult to get into. This park seems to be for permanent residents. We would NEVER camp here again!!!! - krb
Nov 2011 - $23.00
Price based on weekly rate. You don't get pools, playgrounds, river access etc. What you do get are a paved road, paved, level sites, small patio, good 50 amp, Wi-Fi and cable. I thought sites were on the smallish side. I'd guess about half the sites are taken up by long-term folks, and of whats left, not many would take a big rig so be sure to call ahead. Rocks, some large enough to do damage are used to mark site entrances so you need to be careful. Good laundry area, bath/shower not too visually appealing because of age but it was clean. Obvious effort made to keep the place up. Nice folks too. With prevailing rates in the area its a deal if you don't need recreational amenities. - fulltimer121
Apr 2011 - $35.00
This is a very nice family RV park. This park was pretty full and reservations are definitely recommended if you want to stay here. We were there 6 days and they did give us the weekly rate. The bathrooms were very clean but a little dated. There are tons of things to do while in the area. The entire park is paved and has concrete patios, some grass and nicely landscaped areas. The sites are large and roomy. The cable TV worked great and the Wi-Fi is very strong and super fast. We had no problems with it and best part is that it was free! This park located with the city of Kerrville just past the Super Wal-Mart. Everyone we met here was nice and Texas Friendly. We highly recommend this very Nice park. - User1861
