I agree with just about everyone about the park. It has spacious sites, it's well taken care of, wildlife is everywhere, etc. We used to come to this park when we lived in Houston back in the 90s. The sites are similar. The only thing that has changed are the number of people on Saturday coming to the George Observatory and the amount of staff policing that area on Saturdays. It's pretty jumbled mess or people with no real instruction on what's going on. If you happen to come in July it will be extremely hot and humid. There were not a lot of people moving around during the peak heat hours. We planned on grilling outside every evening. We did it once with 3 fans and water misters. Once was enough. We went into Houston one afternoon to escape the heat and mosquitoes. Bring the Deep Woods Off, especially if you are going to the evening events at the observatory. We stayed 4 days, the heat index was 106 degrees every day. Fishing was fine, however alligators stalked us at each pier. The picture I took is real. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

There is no WiFi and cell phone service is spotty. There is WiFi at the ranger station, we did not use it. Surprisingly 30-40 over air TV channels that came in well.

One of the nicest parks we've stayed in within the past two years on the road. Great bicycleing, hiking, bird watching and camping. Some of the sites are hugh. Good satellite reception in our open site but Verizon 3G slow. Will definitely be back. Try and bring all the groceries you need. Stores a drive away. Great personnel at the desk. Buy a yearly pass if you're going to be in Texas more than 10 days. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Travel Trailer.

$20 per night (plus a $7 daily parking fee unless you've purchased a $70 annual Texas Parks Pass, which pays for itself if you plan to stay more than 10 nights in Texas State Parks) was for a mostly level asphalt pad site (#219) with 30-amp electric and water. Most sites can accommodate a 40'+ RV (like mine) and tow with room to spare. It's an almost mile drive to the park office and then another two and a half mile to the campground. All sites have a wooden picnic table and fire ring. Sites are separated by large expanses of grass and trees. It was pleasantly quiet during my stay. The campground and surrounding area are home to rich bio-diversity including alligators. The campground office was staffed by a most friendly, informative ranger who provided maps of the park trails and information on the local activities and amenities. There are many activities available, which you can find listed on their website as well as in the brochures they give you. The campground is 16 miles outside of any large city where all amenities are available. AT&T cell reception is adequate for texting and voice. I used my Verizon jetpack for internet access as it received 4 bars of 4G LTE. I received 70+ digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

We have stopped here a few times on our way further south in Texas and the more we stay, the better it seems. It is an outstanding state park. If you will be staying at more than one state park for more than a night at each one, the $70 annual pass provides a 50% discount on the second night at each park (the pass includes four of these discounts) and waives the daily use fee, which at this park is $7 per person per day. The pass pays you back in no time at all. The sites are on an asphalt pad that is 20 feet wide and about 60 feet deep, so you can easily park two vehicles on the asphalt. Sites are at least 100 feet apart in open woods and fields. The staff is very competent, nice, easy to deal with, and there are a number of volunteer hosts and other workers at the park. Our Verizon card worked well, and we got plenty of over-the-air TV stations. The park routinely fills up on nice weekends since it's so close to Houston. We will continue to stop at this park when traveling in the area. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

Wow - this is definitely a must if you want it all. First of all, the sites are nice and far apart, so you feel private. Next, the biking/hiking trails are wonderful (some of the trails were closed when we were here due to flooded), but still lots of trails. Then you get so see all the alligators, turtles and various species birds that you want! Lots of coyotes howling when you are at your campfire too. The Texans bring their own wood, and if you would be able to do that, it would be better as their wood for $5 was 4 sticks and very wet. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The 100 loop campsites might be closer to all the trails if that was a concern - but we liked the openness of the 200 loop.

A big, beautiful state park. Sites are well separated, long, wide, and paved. Multitude of hiking trails, beautiful trees, and friendly staff. Only drawbacks, like a lot of Texas state parks, is they only have 30 amp service and no sewer hookups but had a convenient, nearby dump. Plenty of wildlife, deer, raccoons, birds, and alligators. We didn't see any gators but didn't really look either. A little far from the city of Houston, but that's ok unless you are going in frequently. Verizon service for the internet was not available. We would return. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a one of the nicest campground I've stayed in with spacious sites and lots of trees. I don't think there is an undesirable site! It is very clean and very well manicured, the park rangers at the office are the nicest I've ever met and they look happy to work there and reflects in how they treat you! I am definitely going back! The daily rate for this park is $20, but there is a daily entrance fee of $7/person, so for us the daily rate was actually $34. This is a beautiful park, with wide, wide spacing between RV sites. The sites are paved, wide enough to accommodate an RV and a car, and are reasonably level. Water and 30 amp hook-ups are available. There is lots to do including hikes, and an observatory open on weekends. The big attraction is alligators present in the numerous ponds in the park. The negatives: Of course there are no sewer hook-up, but what do you expect in a beautiful state park? The 30 amp service is "iffy" and we blew the circuit breakers several times. Verizon voice and data connection was very poor -- constantly dropping calls. Satellite connection is blocked at many sites because of trees. We would stay here again, and in fact wished we could have stayed longer on this trip. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

I've rated Brazos Bend a 10 compared to other state parks, not full service RV resorts. Obviously this park does not have the amenities of a commercial RV park but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. This is one of the nicest Texas State Parks we've stayed in so far. Good water pressure and electric power (30amp only). The park is large with lots of walking/biking trails. We stayed three weekdays in not so great weather, so we almost had the park to ourselves. So quiet. No traffic or train noise. The staff was very friendly and efficient. There is an Observatory in the park open on Saturday nights. We plan to come back so we can attend. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

$20 per night was for a 50-amp electric and water site. A daily entrance fee is also charged unless you have a $70 Texas State Parks Pass, which is good to cover entry fee to all state parks for one year. Most sites are level with asphalt pads. The park does have many moss covered trees but they wouldn’t provide much shade in the summertime on most but not all sites. There are picnic tables, fire rings, and grills at each site. The park is about one hour south of Houston, which has every imaginable activity. If you like hiking/biking there are over 35 miles of multi-use trails. Fishing/boating is available on the lakes. Alligators are found throughout the park so no swimming is allowed! They have an observatory with four telescopes which has stargazing programs every Saturday. Spacing between the sites is very generous. We received one/two bars 4G LTE on our AT&T cell phone. We used our Millenicom jetpack as a Wi-Fi hotspot and it worked very well. There is Wi-Fi at the office which is 3 miles from the campground. We received over 40 over-the-air TV stations. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

As Texas residents, we have been coming to this park for years. Alligators are abundant on the walking/biking paths but not in the campground, so be very aware of surroundings when on the trails including the paved ones. Snakes, too. Copperheads and other poisonous snakes are abundant in the campground as well as the trails. It is hot and humid in the summer, lots of mosquitoes. But we like this park because the sites are mostly large and private. There are tons of birds and other wildlife. Fishing from piers (no wading!). A playground for kids plus biking, fishing, and the Observatory has stargazing programs. Not sure about the cable because we don't watch TV, but the only place WiFi works is near the office. AT&T phone service has been good when we were here. We always enjoy the Texas State Parks. My only gripe is there are no recycling facilities so we end up having to take several bags of cans, bottles, etc., out with us and recycle them somewhere. I hope this will change soon. We are also hoping to see more solar power in the parks as we have seen in Europe. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first trip to Brazos Bend State Park and we were very pleased with the park. The vegetation is lush and the trails are extremely well maintained. The campsites were easy back-in sites. Through out the park the sites, trails, and road sides were mowed perfectly. If you like large trees with hanging Spanish moss, lush vegetation, and a few alligators, you will love Brazos Bend. This is a great, quiet and large state park. The sites are large, level and shaded with large trees. The hiking trails are a bit confusing, but the trail map is a good one. We've seen and heard more birds here than anywhere in our travels over the last three months. And, there are gators; we saw one large one sleeping in the heat right next to the trail. Caution is the word. The data connection with our phone is fair to good, but lets us keep in touch with the outside. We saw no maintenance or park vehicles either day of our stay, but the park is very clean. It's well worth going out of your way. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great park just outside Houston. Sites are spacious and paved and level. Utilities were good and the park rangers were super nice. We have camped here in the past and will again. We camped at Brazos Bend State Park in a Motorhome.
