As a Winter Texan we stayed for 2 weeks in March and loved our time there. The sites are generous and the staff members were great. The WiFi was temperamental (could stand to be improved) and AT&T cell phone cover averaged one bar (this was not a campground issue). They have a night guard posted at the entrance which gives you a bit of peace-of-mind. The campground was very clean and make it a point to keep it that way. We made reservations for a month next year! We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

With this campground being on the Guadalupe River it provides a great time for everyone.

Overall Rating:

Nice campground situated right on the Guadalupe River. We stayed in site 165, a pull through FHU site. All sites are mostly level and comprised of gravel. There is a mix of pull through and back-in sites as well as plenty of tent camping sites. The best part about this campground is that the Guadalupe river is literally at your back door, with plenty of tubing (park provides shuttle) and fishing. The park itself is easily navigable for your rig but going down River Road to get to it can be a challenge. The park has quite a few amenities such as a nicely stocked store (but pricey), horseshoes, volleyball court, dance hall, very nice rec center (only from Oct to Mar), tube rentals, and cabins. Each site has a trash barrel (emptied daily), fire pit, picnic table and barbecue pit. Sites are fairly close together. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the campground is situated in a valley with hills all around. The bathrooms were probably the biggest drawback in my opinion. There are three individual toilets and two showers per gender, but instead of a door there is a shower curtain instead. And while there is a sink, there is no soap or hand dryer/paper towels. The lighting in the stalls is poor as well because of the curtains (which at least are a beige color rather than see through). The showers (which we didn't use) can only be used with tokens that are provided at the office. Otherwise, the bathrooms were cleaned daily. The campground also has a laundry area with 3 washers and 4 dryers. All hookups worked well, but OTA channels are practically nonexistent so be prepared to not watch TV. Verizon signal was poor. We were due to arrive four days earlier, but a storm destroyed our awning and we had to wait for repairs. The park gave us credit for 2 days which was much appreciated! We liked this park and would likely return in the future. Rate was for weekly stay. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Natural Bridge Caverns is about 25 miles away. We did a combo tour which cost $34 per person and we enjoyed it. Aside from the tours, they have ziplining, gem mining and other activities that make it a great stop for the kids.

This is a pretty nice off-season campground--monthly rate is $420 inc elec and tax. Would not want to be here during summer toobing season--too many rules to obey. Pets are not allowed Apr 1 to Oct 1. As to the park--very well kept up and expansive area--sites are gravel with good size grass areas. Good space between RV sites. No shade for most of the RV sites, so would be hot in summer--ACs necessary. We liked this place and might be back for a month in the winter. Restrooms are open to ambient air and temps, clean but showing lots of use. Showers are by token, not sure of cost. About 3 miles to Sattler, small town with a full-size grocery and a few fast-food spots. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a summer season toobing/kayaking area--Guadalupe River is well-known for these activities. Rentals everywhere for toobing supplies. It is about 15 miles to real shopping--large outlet mall in San Marcos 30 miles--but nothing nearby. Camping World in New Braunfels if you need anything for the RV. From what I hear about summer, would not enjoy being here during the crowded times.

Daily rate was for a week stay. We enjoyed our stay at the park. It's remote but in a beautiful valley with the guadalupe river running behind our site. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had planned to stay longer however Verizon is very iffy (if at all) and we needed a good connection for business purposes so had to move on. It's a very welcoming and friendly RV community with snowbirds that have returned to the park for many years. If we could get rid of the dang phone, or if Verizon would improve the coverage, we'd for sure return. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Motorhome.

Great place to stay. Very clean and great scenario. Full hookups. Staff was friendly. Had quite a few winter birds staying there but everyone was friendly. We loved our stay and will stay again without a doubt. River is right there and was able to hear it when we sat outside. Deer was around when we drove up and down river road. Nice, quiet place on the river; country setting, friendly campers and staff. No cable TV , so a dish is nice to have. River is stocked with trout. Will stay here again We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Unlike the previous poster we found the staff very friendly and helpful, and loved it our stay. The park is spotless; yes, there is a gravel road, but it is well-maintained, we had no problems with it. The staff had the most wonderful Valentines party for the RV'ers with prime rib with all the trimmings, you don't see that too often! We enjoyed our stay, have already booked in for next year. Everything one might expect from a commercial campground: rough road within the park, sites too close together, rude employees, little or no shade, spotty WiFi coverage, overpriced general store (though in fairness, was well stocked). We had a good sized rally, so for us, quiet time not starting until midnight was a plus. All hook ups worked fine. No pool but there was easy access to the Guadalupe River. They offered a free concert in their "barn" after dark. However, I'd have preferred watching TV in my air conditioned trailer, to standing in 100° heat for loud music. No cable TV is a huge minus since reception in this area is poor. The broadcast channels we could receive included CBS, NOAA weather, and Country Music videos. The majority were religious and Spanish-speaking stations. Good thing we brought our DVD's. I also didn't much appreciate their slapping a hard-to-remove sticker to the outside of my windshield upon check in. Took me 10 minutes with a razor blade and solvent to get it off when we got home. We came here for a special family event and it's likely we'll never return to this place. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Motorhome.

This is in a very beautiful area. The focus of the park centers around summer-time river recreation with mostly tent camping and a couple dozen RV sites. The RV sites are gravel and level, but fairly close together with a fire pit in-between. The sewer connection was away from the fresh water connection, which we appreciate, but even with our wheels at the end of the pad we needed every bit of a 15ft sewer hose and a 5ft extension. Being in a valley, TV reception was limited to a handful of channels. Wi-Fi was undependable at best. The bathroom/shower were unpainted concrete block walls on the inside and the laundry room was restricted to long term full timers. The staff was not nearly as friendly as in other parks we have stayed at and we felt that they catered more to long term campers. Again, a very beautiful area, but we will not stay here again. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

On 10/24/11 the entrance sign clearly said: No Pets. But their website says: "Absolutely NO PETS allowed Apr-Sep. PETS are allowed in RVs from Oct-Mar in FHU Sites 134-187." Consequently, we did not stay here. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Motorhome.

Amazing RV park in a truly beautiful location! This is the largest park we have ever stayed at and it is well run for the amount of campers that flock to this location in the summer. Large pull-through's off the river are well spaced and well placed away from the more crowded tent sites. Very clean and well kept grounds. Camp store has most everything you need along with full floating tube rental shop. Just jump in the river and go: a free shuttle picks you up and brings you home. Will come back here again and again. We stayed here visiting friends who are building a home in the area and living in their motorhome in this park. In the summer it's a great place if you're interested in partying on the Guadelupe River with a family. They do not allow pets during the summer. It's not a place to stay if you're on a longer RV vacation. Due to being in a valley, regular TV is virtually non-existent, but you can get good satellite reception. Wi-Fi is decent. If we were coming to the area again, we wouldn't select any of the parks along the river. During the winter they cater to long termers, aka Winter-Texans. Of the parks in the area, it is probably the best of the lot. We camped at Lazy L&L Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
