We stayed here for 2 nights with our 33 ft 5th wheel on our way to El Paso, TX. Medium size park (130 spaces) but narrow sandy gravel streets. Narrow sandy gravel pads (barely wide enough to accommodate slide outs). Nice trees at most sites, but since it rained the whole time we were here I can't say how much shade. Some spots may be a problem for rigs bigger than ours. Our spot was near the propane area which made me kind of nervous (but at least we weren't in one of the sites near the dump site or the dumpster). Only fast food places to eat nearby. Adequate Wifi for minimal surfing/texting/emailing. Not good enough to stream movies! DON'T drink the water! Some reviewers complained about "contaminated" water. I don't know about that, but there is a high nitrate/nitrite content. They give you a case of bottled water when you check in and when we asked about the water the office said the water was "deemed safe to drink by the State of Texas". Even so, she said she does not drink the water or give it to her dogs. Office staff was very nice and helpful as was the man who guided us to our site. Area is completely surrounded by oil industry and probably fracking. Some train and highway noises during the day. But seemed quiet at night which was nice. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I called for reservations and the lady was very friendly. When we checked in, the lady was nice and check in was very easy. Our site was adequate--but a little difficult in pulling out because of a car parked too near the street. We backed out without a problem. Streets were asphalt and the ones we drove on were in good condition. West Texas is dusty--so, just be prepared. This is a working man's campground. But, the sites that we saw were all neat and uncluttered. Our problem---it was very hot and the electric service was not adequate to keep up with so many rigs running the AC. We experienced low voltage and had to use our generator for about 4 hours. Otherwise, no problems with this rv park. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is obviously a former KOA. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are a large number of long term residents but the place retained the RV park atmosphere and didn't feel like a work camp or mobile home park. The sites were easy to access and an escort was provided to take us to our site. The campground is far enough off of I-20 that traffic noise is not an issue. I would come back here if passing this way again. Sites are assigned according to rig length. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Staff was good, clean place for an overnight stay. This is older mainly residential RV park. Sites were narrow and my main concern was the quality of the water. There is a posted warning from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. They did give us a case of water for drinking and said we could use their water for showers and dish washing. We played it safe by not using their water at all. We wanted to stay at a different RV park but I waited too long to make our reservation. Not much out this way so my advice is make your reservations early. We only needed a place for overnight and we're glad we could move on. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Best Park in Midland/Odessa area. Friendly staff, very clean restrooms and showers. Little tight but manageable. Nice pool and playground. Convenient location. RV Repair facility just down the street with very good parts selection. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 nights. We probably would have checked out and moved on after 1 or 2 nights, but they have a strict No Refund policy.

The park had kind of a rough unkempt appearance. Our site was littered with cigarette butts. There are alot of older long-term rigs intermixed with the overnighters, so you might see a new high-end motorcoach right next to a 20-year old rig stabilized on cinder blocks.

The park is located in an industrial looking area about halfway between Midland and Odessa. It's about a 10 mile drive to the nearest stores.

We'd probably choose another park if we're in the area again. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Music City Mall, about 10 mi away in Odessa has about all the stores you need.

There's a Commemorative AirForce Museum close by, but check the hours of operation. They were closed on Monday's. Also, there's a Petroleum museum and a Presidential Archives. They were both closed when we were there, so be sure to check the websites for hours of operation.

This was an overnight stop on our way to Phoenix. Very friendly and helpful staff. Overall of Site was level. Tress at sites that offer some shade, not a lot. Water wasn't the best but that gave you a case of water to take with you. Would stay here again. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed three nights in our 40' RV. We did not use any park facilities although laundry, showers, and a dog park were available. The fairways and sites were gravel. Our pull-through site was not long enough to allow us to pull through with our tow attached. In fact the road we needed to use to drive our tow to the site was blocked. Checking in at this RV park was the first time we experienced a lost reservation. Although the desk clerk was most helpful (I'd made the reservation and recognized her voice), I don't think the paperwork was ever found. The biggest problem with this park is that we were advised not to use the water due to a heavy nitrate concentration. Smelled funny and tasted funny. We did not fill our fresh water tank here. This is OK for an overnight stop but that's all. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very friendly and escorted to spot. Although not the most modern, the restrooms and showers were very clean (cleaned twice a day). This is an oil production town, so everything is dirt (no concrete pads), however the park is very clean and well kept. Pool was not open yet, so can't expand. The park was having a problem with quality of water for drinking. Safe to wash dishes and bath. However, park gratiously provided as much bottled water as requested. Ample room between pull through sites for two slides. Only used as one night stay but will use this as an overnight stay again. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great park. It is clean and meticulously cared for. Plenty of shade trees and they are trimmed of low hanging branches. Regular watering of those trees adds to their attractiveness. The sites are mostly pull-through and are matched to the camper that will be occupying that site. It seems to be the nicest campground in the area. I would have rated it higher except for one thing that has been noted before. Due to a high nitrate level, the State has said that the water is not to be used for cooking or drinking. Each camper is given a case of bottled water when they check in and is instructed to use it for those purposes. If they need more, they just have to go to the office and ask. The water is furnished by the State so campers don't find it as a hidden cost in their fees. A permanent solution is being investigated. That said, we enjoyed our overnight stay and, had we not had reservations at another campground the next night, would have stayed an extra day. We will definitely return if we are in the area again. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is not a lot of recreation in the area because of the location of Midessa (between Odessa and Midland - both of which have restaurant and stores). If you don't mind traveling several miles, you'll find many interesting things including a miniature reproduction of Stonehenge and town where the cattle drive originated.

This park offers just about everything you need for a temporary stay, or one of long-term. It's fenced in, with nice grassy fenced parks for dogs to play unleased, and for children to play in a safe area. Playground offers basketball hoop and concrete slab, swings. Big painted tires for climbing, and a park bench for the parents. There is a very nice pool, convenience sore, propane service, Laundromat, many trees for shading, picnic tables at each space. It feels safe, secure, and friendly. Inhabitants adhere to pet and quiet park rules. Well managed. The TV service is limited to the few local channels. The cable provider doesn't have service in the area. Just make sure you have DVDs if you plan a variety of entertainment to watch. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Problem: The water is not drinkable. After, I registered and paid, the desk clerk informed me the water is not drinkable and issued me a case of bottled water. She informed me that it was OK to shower in. But after viewing a nasty note from the owner that was taped to the bathroom mirror, I decided not to shower. The noted complained about tenant misbehavior such as "crapping in the showers". Occupancy was primarily oil field workers using the campground as a residence. If I were you, I would give this a pass. I am surprised this is a Good Sam Campground. From architecture of main building and cabins, this was obviously a KOA in the past. The sites are pretty small and close together, but they've left up a lot of shade trees (considering that it's west TX). The staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. The playground is great. My kids loved it. No gripes. Not the newest park I've stayed at, but clean and well kept. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
