Overall Rating:

We were looking for an overnight spot that was a little more scenic than the normal parks in East Texas. We found Barefoot Bay through our Passport America app. The rate was listed as $14.5 - $19.50. From Google Maps it looked like a good spot. We paid $15.50 for the night which was a good deal for us. At check in the woman was friendly, but another came in and stated that when she saw how many cars were in the parking lot she wanted to go back home (this is there slow time of year, we were told). I guess she does not enjoy her job. There were not that many people there so not sure what she was referring to. Yes, guests are listening to what is being said! We are full-timers in our eleventh year on the road. We recently purchased our third rig, a Tiffin Allegro Open Road. We are still getting used to its handling abilities but found the roads in the park rough and rutted - lots of RV sway. There was plenty of room to navigate in the big pull-throughs area. The site was long and level and the services were adequate. The park does state WiFi at the office so we were not counting on that. We use our own service anyway. At the time of our stay, most of the RV's were permanent residents. The park says no R's over ten years old unless approved by management. Some RVs were black with mold, ACs hanging out windows and sidewalls, and stuff piled around the RVs. No big deal for us but some RVers don't feel the same way. We enjoyed sitting by the lake watching a few boats come and go on a nice afternoon that was in the upper sixties. The views are pretty, for East Texas. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Motorhome.

We love this camp ground, we keep our camper here full time set up. We dont live in it full time. Its so nice to just load our vehicle up and just drive 2 hours & it's ready to go. We come here to unwind, relax after a crazy week of work. We never worry about it, it is watched while we are gone. The sites are clean, treated for fire ants & other little bugs. They have a fenced dog yard, gas station, propane station, boat ramp, paddle boat rental, canoe rental, bait shop, fishing all over the area. There is a little store with the basics, wine & beer. They also have cabins. The bathrooms, showers & laundry rooms are very clean. This is my home away from home. Walmart is only 13 miles away, nice little restraunts around if you want to go out & a wine vineyard not to far away, Los Pinos. I would recomend this campground to anyone.. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Cabins are very clean and meet all of your needs. Convenient store and gas station (with a no ethanol pump at the water for your boat as well) are extremely handy for not having to take a ride back into town. Nice and quiet place to stay. Kayaks, paddle boards and pedal boat available for hourly or daily rental. Sand volleyball court for hours of fun. Love it here! It is a very relaxing environment. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Cabin.

Overall Rating:

Since the RV Park is not their only source of income... don't expect excellent customer service. However, it is a nice park with beautiful views of the lake. Gravel roads and sites, mostly level. Utilities are strangely located at some sites. (Sewers at rear of site requiring 30' to 40' of hose) Water Pressure is high. Some pull-throughs but most are back-ins. Wifi while present is mostly unusable. No one at office knows how to get it to work and passwords they gave never worked. Fire-pits on some sites also oddly placed and close to adjoining RV's. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a "east" Texas RV Patk and apparently won some awards for best in the area.

It is right on the water and across the street from a restraint/bar/gas station. Park itself seemed looked after. Service not great. 20 min on hold, then forgot about us(we could hear them talking). Phone off hook for 2 hrs. Greeted with "go find yer spot" after pulling in. Not rude, but no service.

Good number of full time rvs at the waterfront. It's a full party spot on a summer Friday. Lots of smoking.

10 year limit on rvs... Maybe....

If you want quiet and no-party, this isn't it. It is beer, bait, and ammo... Which is fine.

Lakefront yes. Boat access yes. Karoke yes. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Rate was $12.50 for Passport America. Just an overnight stay, and had a long fairly level pull-through, so did not have to unhook toad. This looks like a fairly new park, with still some work to be done. That being said, not a bad place. Have some fulltimers, but all the RVs are in good shape, and sites are clean. A little off the beaten path, but would stay here again. They also have a small restaurant/bar across road at marina. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 37 days in this park, and for the most part, it is a very nice place to spend some time. With that said, April and May are months that include the Spring transitional weather patterns, which create some problems. Site #9 turns into a mud hole after rains, and rain it does. The lake rose four of five inches during our stay. However, most sites have grass (ours did not) on either side of the pad. Also, if you plan on staying here for any length of time, ask for a site that is not located under the tall pines. Again, this is particularly true in the spring when the sap starts to run and the winds howl during thunder bumpers. I'm going to have to do some major clean up on our roof and sides of our coach from dripping pine sap, plus we had a two foot limb fall on the roof. Just hoping I don't ruin the clear coat. The lake is heavily fished, but fishing is fair to good. We were here for the bass fishing, using an inflatable boat. We had one week of good weather with light winds that allowed us to get on the water, and during that time we caught a good many bass, keeping only those that were 14 to 15 inches long and weighing in around 1.5 to 2 pounds. We caught lots of fish that were under 14 inches and several in the 3 to 5 pound range. The area offers everything you need, sans RV repair for motorhomes (there is for trailers and 5'vers) WalMart is 13 miles away, but a very easy drive. Not much in eateries, but if TexMex is your thing there are plenty of those. I don't recommend any in Pittsburg, but Mt.Pleasant has some good ones. If you go to Gilmer, do NOT eat at the Chinese Buffet. All in all, this is a nice campground, the staff is friendly, and they keep the sites clean and in good to fair shape. Don't expect much from their free WiFi, as it doesn't work most of the time, and when it does it is slower than a sleeping snail. We camped at Barefoot Bay Marina & Resort in a Motorhome.
