Spent 8 nights/9 days here over 4th of July week. Was busy with day use folks going to the beach until the 5th, then very quiet the rest of the week. All of the reviews about mosquitoes are correct, they are bad out here. However, we had a site facing AWAY from the beach (7) that allowed the trailer to act as a wind block. This allowed our 6 tiki torches and two thermacells to work great (along with some bug spray). We camped with 2 other families and all of us would spend the evenings at our camper. No one was bothered by the mosquitoes. So just plan ahead and you'll be fine. Beach was clean and we had a great time playing in the surf and sand. Wish they had flushable toilets and indoor showers. they only have pit toilets, though they are clean, and outdoor rinse off showers. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Try kayaking, they rent them for $15 per hour. Also if you buy a state park pass you get a 10% discount on all purchases and rentals at all state parks. The park pass also saves you the $3 per day/per person entry fee.

Sites are paved and located in a circle or along the road leading to the circle. There is a mix of back-in (5) and pull-thru (10) sites. Sites 9 through 13, all pull-thrus, look out beyond the vegetation-covered dunes to the Gulf. There are lots of mosquitos even with the good breeze. Cell service is very limited although my Sleek brought in a useable Verizon signal on my phone. Free park wifi was sometimes good and a wifi signal enhancer helped. There is no shade, so obtaining a satellite signal is no problem. Boardwalks to beach and through marsh afford wonderful walks. Park Police overly aggressive with beach goers regarding alcohol or glass containers. Kayak rentals available at entrance check-in kiosk. Very quiet park during week; many beach goers on weekends. Very dark at night. A wonderful get away. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

The park has compost toilets only and no shower facilities except rinse showers at the beach area. The dump station is located outside the camping area @1/4 mile down a state highway so if you have a portable septic dump you can't use it and must break camp to go dump tanks. The beach is filthy with trash and remains of campfires started by the truckloads of kids passing through the campsites to drive on the beach. Not the pleasant beach experience we were hoping for. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

As described earlier this is a very nice park located very close to the beach with generously sized flat sites and a bit of a view of the gulf if your RV is high enough. But...the mosquitoes!!! They weren't bad during the day and it was quite windy, but make sure you close up tight before early dusk when they come out in full force! We were using fly swatters all evening trying to get rid of them before we went to bed. This is truly a great beach park but the mosquitoes ruin the whole experience. Sadly, because of this, we will not be back. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

We were very excited about our trip to this state park because of the proximity to the ocean and beach and how small it was. We arrived right at dusk with our small hybrid travel trailer that has a pop out bed and were immediately swarmed with mosquitoes. We had to rush our two small kids into the camper, however, we noticed they were getting in from below the pop up bed. They were literally everywhere. We were forced to close the pop up and sleep with the kids on the dinette and were hoping during the day it wouldn't be as bad. We never found out though. Our elder dog had to be let out several times through the night and each time he went out I would guess 60-80 mosquitoes rushed inside. After the kids kept getting bit in their sleep we packed up and left around 2am and drove 2 1/2 hours back home. I would not try this park with a pop up at all again and if you have a larger rig you won't be doing anything outside after dusk, but if you don't mind that then it looked like a decent place. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A really lovely small Texas State Park. We stopped here for two nights while driving cross country. Right on the gulf with an easy short walk to the dog friendly beautiful beach. We really enjoyed our short stay here except for one issue....Mosquitoes!! We used to live in MN, so we know Mosquitoes, but these were BAD! Except for that, we could gave easily spent a week or two here. A long way from the interstate, so not a good overnight location. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

Right on the ocean. Curved pull throughs with plenty of space between sites. Just terrific views and there is a walkway out to the beach or you can drive out on a beach access road and park on the sand. Each site had picnic tables and a fire ring. Only problem was there was little wind on one of my three nights and the mosquitoes were a bit of a problem. Make sure you have a solution for them. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Not my game but I gather the bird watching there is excellent.

There are no good sources of supplies except way back up the road in Port Arthur. Shop before you go to the park. There is a little gas station down at Sabine Pass where you can get ice, beer, sodas and snacks.

Very nice, small state park on the gulf, this is a hidden gem. You have to want to be here, getting here is a nice drive south of Port Arthur. Staff is friendly, helpful. Sites are mostly curved pull thru's, some back ins, very generous sized and well spaced. No shade, but awesome water views. Electric was steady, water pressure was about 60PSI and tastes great for a beachside park. Bring your supplies, you are 10 miles to the nearest store. You can hear coyotes howl at night, see owls flying. They have a wonderful boardwalk trail thru the marsh water and grasses. Bird watching is very good here. Nice walkway to beach. Beach was clean, fairly quiet while we were here. Only odd thing was that dump station was about mile down road on other side of the road, so hauling a tote would be a challenge. We would stay here again. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

There are 13 nicely paved campsites, 10 of which are pull-thru with W&E, 50 & 30 amp. We stayed in site 15 one of the pull-thru sites with good hook-ups of water and 50A power. There is about 2 miles of drive-able beach and beatiful views and .75 miles nice raised walkway for bird watching. We walked on the beach (which is hard packed for easy driving) and found a few nice shells. The mosquitoes were so bad that we decided to leave early rather than to fight them for another night. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

The park has been restored. There are 13 nicely paved campsites, 10 of which are pull-thru with W&E, 50 & 30 amp. Very good tasting water. Dump station in the park. No showers. Vault toilet at one end of camping area. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very close to the beach and excellent beach access via boardwalk. No vehicles allowed on the beach area at the end of the boardwalk. There is about 2 miles of drive-able beach and primitive beach camping available for RV's under about 30' or tents. I don't understand the previous very negative reviews. It is no secret this SP is in the middle of nowhere. Also being 100 yards from the water, if the wind blows there is nothing to stop it. Your RV will rock or your tent will be blown around. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

We had to drive up one side of the Intracostal Waterway to get over a bridge to come back down the other side to head to Sea Rim State Park. This park was destroyed by Hurricane Ike (2008) and they are just starting to put money back into it now. It is really pretty sitting on the Gulf of Mexico but so much of the park is underwater and under construction. Texas charges you an entrance fee and $10 to stay in a primitive site. I really don’t think they should charge a fee to get in at all, but it does sit on the Gulf, and it is very peaceful. There are 4141 acres of marshland here with 5.2 miles of beach. The state purchased this from an oil company in 1972. Sea Rim refers to the portion of the Gulf shoreline where marsh grasses meet the surf. It is on the bird migration trail, so a lot of birders come here. There were two other campers here: one from Washington State, and the couple stayed here three years ago and told us it was worse then, but they have been working on it. The wife loves to walk the beach and collect shells and did she get some good ones. The map of the park showed that before it was destroyed there were two camping areas without electric, two beaches, picnic areas, boating, an interpretive center and a number of trails. I am sure when they get this finished it will be a great State Park again! First night that bugs finally came out and bothered us! It’s a long drive down from Port Arthur and if you are looking for diesel, fill up before you get to Port Arthur. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Motorhome.

It is out in the middle of nowhere with only one way in and one way out, via hwy 87 and a very tall MLK Bridge. Bring what you need because nearest supplies are about 30 minutes away. Pay on an honor system at the gate. Unfortunately, this park is still showing destruction from previous storms, so it still needs some upkeep. We stayed overnight in the parking lot because we could not get down on to the beach due to the road being washed out from a recent storm. And good thing we didn't because the winds really picked up over-night and became quite strong by next day, 40-50 mph gusts, so we had to leave. I think it would have been an OK place to stay if you are a beach person. You can camp right on the sand and walk out in to the ocean. But make sure the weather is on your side. Must be completely self contained as they have no hook-ups or facilities. And, come prepared for noseeums and mosquitoes. Lots of them. I would have given a higher rating if I could have stayed longer and on better conditions. We would return if the weather was good. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

First let me saw that hurricanes have wiped this place out. Except for garbage and few garbage cans and a paved partial lot or 2 there is nothing here. We decided to check it out since we boondock a lot. I couldn't believe Texas considers this an active park and actually charges you to stay here. We had some somewhat rude rangers come by and tell us we couldn't have our dog off leash. Really? There is nothing and no one here and it's a garbage pit. At least we pick up after our dog. And I have never seen a worse infestation of mosquitoes. Never. Don't stay here, it's not worth it even if it were free. We camped at Sea Rim State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
