12 Parks near San Antonio, Texas
Feb 2016 - $55.00
We stay in San Antonio quite a bit. Our kids go to UTSA. We've never stayed here before because it's not as close to downtown as Traveler's World. To start off with this park is extremely well maintained. No junk anywhere and there looks to be some full-timers with all kinds of set ups and everything is tidy. I'm extremely picky where we stay. No longstanding mobile home parks, etc.
Navigating the park is easy. The sites are a little narrow for my taste, but if all you're gonna do is stay inside or go to the city it's no problem. We chose a "Premium-Plus" site with an extra parking place for our kids to come visit. Our site had a picnic table as well.
No cable TV and not a lot of channels to be picked up. Looks as if they had cable at one point but not anymore. Not much shade throughout the middle of the park. Some trees at the end of the lanes. - mikel
Oct 2015 - $41.00
Escorted to site, which was nice. Easy and friendly check-in; the staff is wonderful. Lots of construction in the area as the city is growing very fast.
Sites are concrete pads with a brick patio. Some full-timers here but their sites are well maintained. The fixtures and floor in the bathroom was clean but the stall walls need a good wipe down. There is also a strong chemical smell.
WIFI is not free, which is ridiculous in this day and age. We did not get it because we didn't know how well it would work. We used the bus to get downtown, which is 16 miles away. - CraftCrazy
Oct 2015 - $45.00
Pretty standard park with closely spaced cement pads of sufficient length for most RVs and a small patio area with table. My site had a separate 1/2 pad to park truck. Noisy from traffic. TV reception was poor so no local news or sports channels and no cable. Tengo wifi was satisfactory but expensive. Staff was friendly. If you want to be close to Sea World this is the park for you otherwise there are better parks. - ChipAW
Jun 2015 - $40.00
900 sites and a tiny pool to serve the dozens of kids who live here long term. The sites are right on top of each other, literally could touch neighbors slide from mine. Speeds bumps throughout park, some less than 100 ft from another, that are extremely tall and not RV friendly. Won't stay again. - bohead
May 2015 - $50.00
Very nice park, well-maintained and quiet. Two things hold me back from rating it a 10: WiFi was weak, worked on my phone but not on the laptop or TV; the pad was not level. Took a number of tries to get the jacks to level the coach and ended up with the front wheels off the ground. Other than that I would certainly give them another try. Our coach is 31' and I found the park very easy to navigate. - ajmurray
Apr 2015 - $23.00
The individual bathrooms were clean, private and consistently in top quality condition. Our granddaughters loved the pools, one for small children and another for adults and older children. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the other campers were friendly and most helpful. The laundry facilities and the clubhouse were top notch. We will be returning in mid-March and leaving mid-April, 2016. - Jim T
Nov 2013 - $20.00
Under no circumstance stay here. Planes directly overhead, trains nearby, and emergency sirens all night long. Tight getting in and out. Short sites. Utilities in bad places under rig. - 11 Bounder
Feb 2016 - $31.00
Have stayed at a sister resort in Houston. This one very similar in layout and amenities. Fair number of long term residents but everything neat, not trashy. We like what we have seen from this company and will use again. - rockhill
Dec 2015 - $38.00
Excellent park with easy access to San Antonio. Almost brand new gated park. Camped on lake. Heated pool with hot tub. Pavilions around lake with fire rings, BBQ and food prep areas. Free dog wash. Only downside was no 'off leash' area for dogs to exercise. Would stay again. - rwthomasjrfamily
Nov 2015 - $38.00
Large new park. Plenty of space for all sizes of rigs. They price by pad size, bigger the space more the cost. They have a lake that 50 or so spots back onto. They offer gas firepit and BBQ Gazebo areas that all can use. They are cleaning daily so upkeep is great. Managers and staff demonstrated great customer service.
Seems they wanted to fill the sites so some rigs are old and not well kept. Sad to see some sites are getting junky looking in such a wonderful park. They should also have someone adjust the grass sprinklers as they seem to spray more on the pads than on the grass. It's new so I guess the bugs must be worked out.
This could be a great snowbird park. - RDRV
Nov 2015 - $45.00
This is a 95 percent full time trailer park. There are paved road thru park, sites are gravel/dirt. The park is Expensive for what you get. $45.00 night, $245.00 week. The amenities advertised are not all working, you are lucky to be in a spot where Wifi and Cable are usable. $20.00 deposit cable box needed. I have used these boxes many times before and after trying two boxes the front office threw up its hands and says "we only provide cable because Time Warner gives it to us free, it's not ours you will have to call them." Many of the spots for short term , including mine, are next to road (noise) or against the UP railroad and a stone quarry (bad dust). I didn't use restrooms, can't rate. Front office is useless, backed by General Mgr who has been on job too long and doesn't care about individual customers issues. Location is asset, located close to I-35. If you have never heard of a non-refundable deposit, get ready. Laundry at park, ok but old machines, one of ours leaked. - Dieselrv08
Nov 2015 - $17.00
Facility filled with old park models. Extremely unlevel, gravel sites. Narrow streets filled with speed bumps and pot holes; very, very difficult to maneuver a big rig through. Satellite reception difficult or impossible due to trees. We lost power sporadically, especially during storms. Park poorly maintained. NOTE: The trees at our site prevented satellite reception, so we tried working with the management to move and were told nothing available and to keep trying. We tried for over a week and were told to check after the first of the month when the monthlies vacated their spots. When two sites came open that would work for us, we asked to move but were told they could not move us due to the way their "reservation system" worked. They had no intention of letting us move when they told us to keep checking back. When I called the office and spoke with the general manager, I was told "that's the way it is and next time you can go to another park," and HUNG UP on me! We have have traveled extensively and have NEVER encountered a park like this one! - CWinLV
Sep 2015 - $17.00
I stayed here for 6 months while on a work contract. The staff and maintenance people were friendly and so were the neighbors. Lots are larger than most places that I have been. Not packed in like sardines! Utilities were excellent and trash pick up is daily at your site. Fenced dog park with dog droppings bags supplied at all three dog parks. The price was $500.00 monthly which breaks down to $16.60/day for a monthly RV rate. Nothing extra is charged. - MedicineMan
Dec 2015 - $20.00
This park is a good park to stay for a few days while visiting San Antonio. The sites are long and level. It is a smaller park with some long term residents. The WiFi was included and worked fairly well. We would stay here again. - BigR
Aug 2015 - $20.00
We stayed at Happy Trails while in town to see the sights of San Antonio. We chose this park because it was financially friendly on our vacation budget! The park has a washer & dryer on site which was great because I didn't have to leave the park to wash our clothes from our trip! The camp hostess was very friendly & helpful. Our site had some shade and a patio. This is a great park for the value! - Dory and Marlin
Dec 2013 - $21.00
Overall first Impression was another old camp ground. Would not take credit or debit card had to pay cash. Assigned to a site and found there was not sewer hook up. Had to share with 13A I was in B. Could not reach the sewer even with a long hose. Power was a standard 20/30/50 connection for the two sites. Good thing I had a 50 to 30 amp adapter other wise I would not had electricity. The 20 amps did not work. Constant loud banging from the Wall-Mart distribution center next door. They hit a trailer so hard it hit their fence and darn near came into the park. Check out time was 11:00 I was just about finished and ready to leave at 10:15 when the Manager said I was going to owe her another day's rent and walked away. This place was a disaster waiting to happen. I will not stay there again!! I'd rate this place a -4. - mark-frm-Ne
Oct 2015 - $15.00
For the most part a self service park. Never saw any management. Office was always locked. Grass is well maintained but utilities, roads, etc are in need of upgrading. Roads are terrible all over the AFB. Water connections leak, cable boxes broken, laying on the ground. Spaces are generous, but be careful of low limbs. Bring your own Mi-Fi. Park's Wi-Fi is all but unusable. Price reflects $440/month. We would stay again. - Deck & Margot
Nov 2013 - $30.00
This RV park should not be open. There is no Wi-Fi or cable. The sites are not level and the roads are full of pot holes. The only thing going for it is the price. $355.00 per month keeps it pretty well full of workers. - possumtrotky
Jan 2013 - $12.00
This RV park is in very bad shape and should not be open. The roads have deep pot holes everywhere. The sites are narrow and utilities are on the wrong side for hooking up. My rate is based on a monthly stay of $355 per month. The lady that works nights is very friendly. There are no rules in this park, but it is quiet, and all dogs are on a leash. - possumtrotky
Jun 2014 - $40.00
While the people in the office were nice, the park itself was the nastiest I've seen. 98% was run-down full-timer sites. Our site was an un-level mud pit, water was broken-although was repaired while we were there, had to use Lowe's WIFI since park's did not work.Very run down. Full-timer next door used his hammer to build something on his front patio until midnight. Unhook TOAD at parking lot. Whole park is next to busy freeway. - OurRVLife
Jul 2013 - $20.00
Lots of seasonal RVers, oil field workers, permanent residents. But park is not trashy and most sites are kept up. Gravel roads & all pull-through sites. Good WiFi from park or Lowe's. Unlike 1 poster, I used the WiFi on both my iPhone & iPad with no problem & signal was consistently good. Most sites in full sun. Park is close to Walmart, HEB, Walgreens, several fast-food places. And right on I-35, but I'm not bothered by highway noises. I used PPA and also wouldn't pay full price, but for $20 all I wanted after a day of sight-seeing was good WiFi & electricity to run the AC. - happybooker1
May 2013 - $20.00
Friendly permanent residents, but the park needs a lot of attention. Grass was mostly weeds and needed mowing. Lots of junk around. Electricity was good. Water was highly chlorinated. Strong Verizon 4G signal. The free WiFi is only good for one device. I had put it on my tablet and it denied me use on the netbook. We were at the front of the park, along the Interstate and across the street from Lowes, so I used their free WiFi. Our very loud AC unit almost drowned out the truck noise from the Interstate. If you are going to spend the day in San Antonio, this place is convenient and inexpensive. We used Passport America. I would not pay full price to stay there. - Road Princess
Dec 2015 - $42.00
This park has newly changed management and the new people are working to clean things up, but there is additional work needed for the price and considering KOA is literally less than a mile down the road and at a similar price point. The sites are close together but the owners did a good job of keeping the campers with a site in between them. There are a lot of permanent residents there and some units appear to not be used anymore. The owners do a good job of keeping the vacationers on the front and better sites. The cable at the site was active, but no channels worked due to a recent switch to all digital cable and need for a special box (not in your flat screen already). You are close enough to San Antonio that you can get plenty of over the air TV channels. The bus service (public) to the park is every 30 min. We used it 3 days and it was OK. Beats parking $20+ in downtown. We used the laundry facilities at the park and they were good. The park is in an industrial park of town and not gated / secured. If I were to go back to San Antonio, I would consider the KOA just down the road (gated + spacious-looking sites for a KOA) or a different area of town to stay altogether. - WineStream
Dec 2015 - $42.00
From this site, one can easily take the short drive to the River Walk. There is plenty of room between the sites, so you are not crammed together and can easily navigate the park with your rig, big or small. The area is super clean and is beside a beautiful park. Lot of room for your dogs and you to stretch your legs. - GiGi and family
Nov 2015 - $20.00
We arrived during an all day rainstorm to find the site we had reserved for another park was very soggy. I was pretty unhappy and the manager took pity on us and moved us over to the RV park next door called River Walk RV Park....both parks are owned by the same company. River Walk RV Park would have been more expensive but the manager met the price we were quoted for our original location. We stayed 4 nights instead of the two we had intended. The bathrooms were clean and water in showers was hot. Next to the office they have a lounging/game room with a big TV and a big comfy couch and chairs. They have some board games and books if you are camping with friends and want a social gathering place. We were invited to watch the Seahawks game on the Sunday but we chose to watch it in our rig. It rained for two of the days were were there so I have to admit we kind of hunkered down in our rig and caught up on book work and chores.
This park has new owners and they are working hard to improve all aspects. The people working there are friendly and very helpful. They gave us lots of information and ideas about where the most interesting tourist sites were and how to get there.
I expect that by the time we return next year most of the improvements they have planned will be completed. While it is good now...it will be excellent! - Darice Straight
Feb 2016 - $36.00
Great service at check in. Escorted to our site and made sure everything was fine. Both cable and WiFi worked well. The camp is very large and the services are well placed throughout the park.
There is construction going on for a new pavilion but it doesn't effect the usage of anything.
The sites are a little tight especially with slideouts. With campers on both sides of us it was difficult to get out of our space. We would stay again. - John Borajkiewicz
Jan 2016 - $31.00
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The laundry was clean and worked well. They even offer pizza to be ordered and a 'chuckwagon' for breakfast. We liked being escorted to our site. The park was gated which provided extra security as the park is located in an industrial area. It is also a short drive to attractions downtown. WI-fi and cable worked well. - mountainfan
Dec 2015 - $40.00
Reviewed this KOA before. Had res for us and friends who also have long truck and rig and were given the sites that were requested when I called. The lady that showed us to the sites actually stopped our friends and radioed office to change their site to the empty one on our left side instead of right so our friends did not have to negotiate around a tree that was close when turning in. Excellent awareness by this person. Power, water, sewer hook ups worked as expected. Rained hard but our sites had no pooling as others had. Hunt Brothers pizza good and delivered to site. Ride the 24 bus downtown and back and save the high dollar parking fees. - xarmoreddriver
May 2013 - $20.00
It was just o.k. Wouldn't stay there again. Not easy access from freeways. Very rundown. Should of just turned around and gone somewhere else. Gentleman that checked us in was very friendly but didn't bother to tell us that the info. on this park is outdated, i.e., no cable, no wifi. If we didn't have a dish dome we would of been out of luck for t.v. Roads are in very bad shape - he told me the pads were asphalt and level - not in this park! I couldn't find a piece of asphalt in our space. At one time I'm sure they probably were. We were the only traveler - out of 118 sites, approx. 20-25 were permanent. I can see why Good Sam got rid of them. - werunamuck
Mar 2012 - $31.00
We stayed here 2 nights while sightseeing in the San Antonio area. The park is quiet and clean. Its terrain is typical of the Texas hill country (rocky, not much grass). Note that there is a huge grassy area with kids play equipment near the bathrooms which worked out perfect for our pets (yes, we picked up after them). The site was level and the roads easy for our 35' Trailer+ 20' Truck to get around in. The management was very accommodating and responded quickly to our emails. We had good Data service with Verizon. - starcraft35
Feb 2012 - $43.00
We had read good reviews of this RV park in the Texas Travel and Camping Guide and decided this is the RV park we were going to stay in. However, when we pulled into the park to register the office was closed in the middle of the day on a Sunday. Sign in the driveway said to pick a space and they would come register us the next day. We pulled in to find a space and the park is old and unkept with gravel roads and spaces and weeds growing up around the permanent residents in the park. We pulled out of the park and found another RV park to stay in for a week. We talked to at least three other RV'ers at the new park we stayed at and discovered they had done the same thing we had, which was to pull in and make the decision to leave. I would not recommend this park. - VKS
Feb 2016 - $32.00
Rate reflects weekly rate. We stayed the last week in January. As other reviews have stated, this park is in an "underdeveloped" area but we were not concerned regarding safety or anything like that. We had site 83 right next to the pool. Very comfortable pull through site with grassy areas on both sides and pea stone surface which cut out the usual dust you get from gravel. Plenty of room for coach and tow.
Even though there are some permanent residents, park and homes are extremely well maintained. Always saw maintenance working around.
We had some very warm days which drew many campers to the pool which even though small was inviting & heated. Nice deck area with tables & chairs and loungers.
Good size clubhouse with themed dinner nights and activities.
Super close to downtown - no need to get on the highway to access Alamo, River Walk or Missions. Would stay here again.
Bears mentioning again to use GC directions and NOT GPS. - Beachside Baby
Jan 2016 - $35.00
This is a very clean and well run RV park. It is well situated for seeing the sites in San Antonio and the city bus stops right in front of the park. As most of the reviews mention, RV sites can be a little tight. We were fortunate to get one that was pretty roomy. Also, you will need a water pressure regulator. This was our second stay at Traveler's World RV Park. - whiteknights
Jan 2016 - $40.00
Convenient to downtown and Riverdale. Nice, wide and level sites. Pull thru sites accommodate long coach with tow. Grounds are kept immaculate. Their crews were cleaning and grooming the place every day. Small pool and nice hot tub. Close by shopping; Walmart, grocery, restaurants everywhere. We would certainly come again if in the area. - Allure470
