Pecan Park in San Marcos, Texas is not family friendly and the owners of this park are not respectful to the guests.

Here are some examples of the treatment of guests at this park:

1. Night Security is extremely rude. The owners evict guests at for minor things (like doing sparklers by the river on the 4th of July). As we watched our camping neighbors pack up their trailer, the Sheriff's Department advised us that this happens on a regular basis, but because it is private property they have no choice but to make sure the campers leave. This was the second time the police had shown up in 2 days.

2. There is an abandoned home on the property that is open with no warning signs or security tape and children in the park were running through this home the entire weekend that we were camping in early July. I understand that there was a flood at the end of May, 2015, but the home should have been secured for the protection of the guests. There was also debris lying outside the home and the steps down to the river were very dangerous.

3. The hookups on some sites are very poorly placed. Campsites are very close together and there is little to no grass around the sites.

4. Too many rules. At 10:30 you are not allowed any electronic devices. You may not even sing a song or strum an acoustic guitar quietly. You are only allowed to whisper. I don't know about anyone else, but when my family go on vacation we do not appreciate a 10:30 curfew. I can appreciate a quiet time, but have some common sense.

5. Please look at the YELP "not currently recommended" reviews and also go to www.workampingreviews.com and search for Pecan Park RV and look at the review by an employee. These reviews are very insightful. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

We lived there full-time from September, 2014 - May, 2015. The owners and staff are AWESOME!!!! We were there the infamous Memorial Day Weekend, 2015 when the Blanco and San Marcos rivers flooded. The owners live on property, but put the residents and guests first to make sure everyone evacuated. God Bless Them! They are back up and running...stronger than ever! It's a beautiful park with beautiful people. I highly recommend them! We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like to shop, check out the Tangers Outlet Mall.

If you like the water, go tubing, kayaking, and/or canoeing down the San Marcos River....or check out the park's indoor pool!

This is truly the best campground we ever stayed at. Lovey old pecan trees, swimming pool, hot tub, great cookouts and lovely people. Take the family! We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff friendly, helpful. Very over priced. Don't understand Good Sam rating of 9/9/9. Gravel unlevel sites, old appearance, small showers, and laundry for number of spaces. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

We had such a great time at Pecan Park! First of all, the park itself is quiet, tucked at the edge of San Marcos so it's right near everything without feeling busy. It's on the edge of the San Marcos River, just a short walk downhill from the campground, and although we didn't get to take advantage of the canoeing service in the winter, it looked convenient. The park has standard amenities (full hookups, best internet we've had at a park yet, decent cable, laundry, club house, showers, activity room) and some not-as-standard ones (indoor heated pool, hot tub, gazebos, outdoor movie theater, dog park). The sites aren't huge, but they're spaced out well enough that we never felt like we were on top of our neighbors--even the ones behind us. The stately pecan trees give plenty of shade for the rigs in most of the sites.

Next, the people. The park has great hosts, giving a real personal touch to the park. We had a nice time getting to know them during our stay. The office staff is totally on it, calling us every time a package arrived and even sending someone to help us back into our spot upon our request. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are plenty of restaurants close by, as well as a grocery store. We enjoyed eating at The Root Cellar (good date night!) and Centerpoint Station (burgers, shakes, country store). Downtown San Marcos has interesting shops, and for the more adventuresome, check out nearby Jacob's Well in Wimberley (40 min drive) and Hamilton Pool in Marble Falls (1 hr). New Braunfels is close with plenty to do, including a Camping World for resupplying, and San Antonio is just an hour away.

We stayed in a deluxe space, which backed up to the river, which was practically non-existent. You couldn't see it anyway because of the numerous trees. While we were gone on a day trip, our sensor that provides the outdoor temp to our indoor station was stolen. Park staff was notified and performed their due diligence, to no avail. Lastly, do not buy propane there. They charge for a full tank, regardless of whether your tank is empty or not, which they don't tell you until you go to the office to pay. Despite these issues, it was a nice, quiet park with nice staff and we would consider staying there again albeit in a pull through space, which were quite roomy and cheaper. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the Salt Lick restaurant in Driftwood. Excellent bbq.

This park has new owners in the past couple years and it looks like they are doing everything they can to make this a really nice park. We stayed here three days and used the pool but did not use or participate in the other activities.

The park is clean and well cared for and appears to be a family friendly park.

San Marcos is a good place to stay to visit the area. Between San Antonio and Austin with easy highway access to both.

I would stay here again. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do and see in the area especially if you venture to San Antonio for the River Walk and the Alamo. Also Austin for the night life.

We planned to stay closer to Austin, but this was the only park in the area with availability during Thanksgiving week. We're glad we ended up here, and we extended our stay to three weeks instead of one. The park is pretty, the location is secluded and quiet, and yet it's a 5-10 minute drive to town for Walmart, restaurants, gas, etc. It's about 30 minutes to the southern parts of Austin. We were put in a new section that had just opened a week or two earlier, so we had no patio, picnic table, etc. and the grass was still trying to grow in from seed so it was a bit muddy when it rained, but we had most of the section to ourselves which was nice. All the staff we worked with were very friendly and helpful, and all the other residents we ran into were friendly too. The dog park is one of the larger ones we've seen at an RV Park, and our young Lab loved playing ball there twice a day. The river was too shallow and rocky for our dog to swim or play in. Our rate reflects a 50% "fall into winter" discount advertised on the park's web site for November through February. We'd stay here again. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Motorhome.

A great place to stop for a few nights or longer. The sites are level and plenty long, all utilities worked as they should, and the staff went out of their way to offer advice on places to go and things to see in the area. We will be back in the summer when it's warmer to take advantage of the tubing down the river. We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Motorhome.

We had a blast at Pecan Park Riverside RV. The staff went out of their way to make sure this was an enjoyable stay. We were in a shaded spot with plenty of room. Bathrooms were clean with private room for toilet and shower. The park rents tubes and provides a shuttle service for $15 a person for unlimited rides for 24 hours. The shuttle drops you up stream from the park for about an hour and fifteen minute slow float down the river back to park. We went into San Marcos for tubing, but after one float with crowds we returned to the slower pace at the park. It got crowded on the weekends, but it all does in this area. Checked in on a friday afternoon and asked for a pull through however we were directed to a backin as it was under the shade trees. The site however was a crusted hardened mud pit with debris all over the cement table pad. Asked one of the employees driving a tractor for a broom so as to sweep away the mess but he never returned .Was going to hook up toad for early departure and nearly done when 2 campers ?, so called " security" said we could not do so as it damaged the non existent grass, repeat, mud pit. He went on to clearly state that the owners would have my unit towed if i hooked up. This comment was made as a dog was yapping and howling in an un attended pop up in an adjacent site. Was not going to argue however if they were staff they should have ID badges.Seems they are more concerned about the mud pit than the welfare of pets and peace and quiet. Stay would have been acceptable but for these 2 so called keepers of the park.I got the feeling this is a residents park and don't seem to care much for travelers.Wont be stopping here again and Good Sam needs to have a chat with the the management , We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects good Sam discount. Had to ask for it. Pleasant enough check in. During our stay, any staff we encountered were very friendly and asked if they could be of service. We had a mice back in place in the quiet part of the park, but actually the entire park was very very quiet, even with some partiers on the weekend. I reserved on phone and didn't quite understand between deluxe pull thru or regulars, but I should have asked more if I needed more information. We stayed here 4 nights and really liked it. I love camping in the big trees. Good shade against the texas sun. Facilities were very clean. Gazebos with swings and nice lawn area. Loved the private path and access to the river. Our site not so level. Other sites seemed more level. There are fire rings which I enjoy in the evening. The office rents tubes and shuttle service. Laundry was only 1.25 wash and 1.50 dry and the machines were very good. We will definitely come back We camped at Pecan Park Riverside RV and Cabins in a Motorhome.
