Very basic campground, we were fortunate in that we got one of the concrete sites. Others all gravel, a lot of standing water around these sites-looked like many permanent rvs. Had tree by us, ants fell from trees. We ave trouble getting slide out, contacted office for possible help from RV repair on campground. Service people did not return calls-did not care- will never stay again. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is clean and staff is friendly. They have two wifi services, one is free and it is extremely slow then they offer one you have to pay $2 a day to use. Didn't use the one you paid for so can't say anything about it but I did get the feeling that the free one may be purposely slow in order to get more people to pay for the supposedly faster one. There is a small dog park in the south west part of the park. Also a pond you can fish in near the dog park. About 25 to 30% of the sites are on a concrete slab and the rest are gravel. If there is a lot a rain some will have flood issues. There is a McClain's RV store and service center adjacent to the KOA park. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Motorhome.

Basic park located behind McClain's RV. We had a concrete site; there were also gravel sites for $35/night. They had a nice playground and a pool area that could've used some shade. Just a few miles from a state park on a lake with beach access and all kinds of outdoor activities - if in the area again, I'd try for a site there. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

My take: Very nice roadway presentation, new owners converted a private camp into this KOA, accepting KOA discounts only. New owners also own the McClain's RV Superstore, in front. Safety: no concerns - remote and peaceful. Access: exit 481 off I-35 to View (frontage) Road, south, turn in next to the RV dealership. Municipal road in fair condition, sign high up on a pole, visible from interstate, Garmin RV-GPS was clueless, couldn't even find the address. Office: Nice, friendly reception, token store with snacks, a few RV equipment items. Facilities: Sites are a mix of back-in and pull-thru, premium sites are asphalt and very long, regular pull-through sites are "big chunk" gravel, 5 sites designated for tents (not recommended), no yurts or cabins. Big pool, no spa, or fitness room. No rec center. Laundry room clean with new machines. Private restroom/shower rooms, clean and fairly modern but could use some paint; softened water (score "A"). No playground. No designated dog run. Campground: Roads are asphalt/gravel, narrow with tight turns, but no overhead obstacles. A lot of mud. Electrical with FHU-20/30/50. Gravel sites aren't perfectly level, token grass landscaping, with pedestal at mid-rig. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, 6" to 8" above ground level. No picnic tables, patios, or fire rings. Good satellite views. Adequate water pressure and taste. Propane sales at adjacent RV dealership but price not known by office. No cable TV. Free Wi-Fi with good coverage but mediocre bandwidth. Verizon coverage at "3-bars". No railroad, interstate, or aircraft noise. No recycle bins. Bug Report: I saw a couple of wasps but no issue. Runners: CG gravel roads rugged and unacceptable for running, no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: Premium, asphalt sites would be ok for yoga mats. Conclusion: Low price makes this an acceptable campground. We did an over-night. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The immediate vicinity of this CG has nothing in terms of eateries (fast food or restaurants) but drive south on I-35 to Denton which is a larger city. The RV dealership (in front of the CG) looks huge and can probably handle any issue that your rig may have, if needed.

We stayed here for a month. There were some old rigs even though the rules for monthly residents state no rigs over 10 years of age are allowed. The sites with those rigs were full of junk. One rig was even towed in and parked. Many residents did not pick up after their dogs. The trash can in the dog park was overflowing. Workers were rarely seen. The area for the short-term campers is much nicer than for the long-term campers. Overall, it is not a bad park especially for the price, but it could use some clean up. We stayed here again, last time was November 2015. Located off I-35 but use KOA website directions to get to park. The park is located off access roads behind a RV dealership. Entrance roads are wide and concrete, as are the first 2 rows, the rest are packed gravel. Plenty of room to enter site and maneuver for big rigs. our site was concrete, very long but narrow and no patio. Mostly open, little shade! Small dog park, and it wasn't clean from previous dog owners, plus the dog park is located next to the park's sewer field. However, there is plenty of open grass areas around park to walk the dogs. Close to Sanger and Denton, plenty of places to eat and/or shop. This is a basic RV park, good for a short stay if visiting area. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a month and thought the location was excellent. Grounds were mowed each week and well kept. Was very quiet and great neighbors. Pool was always clean and maintained which was rarely used by others. Just far enough out of the DFW area but close enough to shopping and restaurants. We paid extra for high speed wifi which was well worth it. We had a 30' toybox RV and two vehicles with plenty of space. Only good things to say about this location and would stay here again. Wish it had a heated pool and hot tub. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Ponder TX and eat at the steak house there. Better steak than some high priced city locations and home made pies to boot. You won't regret it.

We have stayed here before earlier this year. This visit brought us back in the middle of summer. When we set up our site had 3 huge red ant hills. I advised the office staff only to be told they do not take care of any ant hills, it's up to us to buy ant killer if we want to get rid of them. After several days of rain the facility has several areas with standing water. This creates mosquitoes. This park is mostly permanent residents, obviously not rules exist for them as most have very old trailers and work trucks. The pool is right behind the service center which is not inviting.

This will be our last visit. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet park with level concrete pull thru's that are long enough for any size rig. I had made reservations in advance since I was going to arrive after the office closed. When I arrived, someone had taken the site I was assigned. The manager was easy to get on the phone, and he quickly assigned me another site. The only negative I had was the sewer hookup was up out of the ground almost at the level of my RV hookup which made dumping black and gray water difficult. This is a large spacious park. We parked on gravel. Very little shade. It was a long walk to the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have a toilet, sink and shower in one room. There were three of these and a single toilet for men and for women. Might be a long wait in busy season. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night. Easy to get to from I35 and it is right next to a large RV center. The metal picnic table was too hot to use! Nice clean place.

Lots are gravel when was lead to believe they were all concrete, not level. Prone to flooding in heavy rains. Nothing here for amenities except laundry. Very disappointing for a KOA. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Fifth Wheel.

Use website directions to get into park. The park is located off access roads behind a RV dealership. Entrance roads are wide and concrete, as are most of the roads in park. The sites are concrete pads, however they are narrow and no patio. We were there after rain, and the ground was muddy. Great 50 amp power good water, free WiFi is OK not great. They have a few rows of nice paved sites. We were on gravel but each site is 90 feet long and spaced much better than most parks. RV tech available on site as is McClains RV sales. The only negative would be the I-35 noise even though the park is over a quarter of a mile from the freeway. We stayed here as Amazon Camperforce so the site was free. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Motorhome.

We stayed in one of the long concrete pull thru sites. The concrete roads are a little narrow as are the concrete sites as far as making a good swing into the site. The drivers side rear tires and toad tires were a mess after being off the concrete pad. After looking around at other sites, this seems to be a common occurrence, many sites were rutted up. There was standing water visible in various places as well. That being said we would still stop here if passing through. It's very accessible from the interstate. We camped here in a 42' MH. Easy access off I-35. Long, cement pull through so we could keep our Jeep attached for the one night stay. Some larger open spaces around the perimeter which was nice for walking the dog. Small fishing pond, pool and rec room - non of which we used. Plenty of room for a large motorhome. We camped at Sanger / Denton North KOA (formerly McClain's Camp Site) in a Motorhome.
