Overall Rating:

This is a large park with lots of residents. It appears that originally an attempt was made to separate tourists from permanent folks, but that is no longer true. Consequently, you will see plenty of construction trucks and other work vehicles throughout the park, and the usual assortment of clutter which begins to build up when people stay long term. Nevertheless, the park is clean, well maintained, mostly quiet, with amenities such as pools, dog parks, game rooms, pavilions and the like. Sites are close together, gravel and rarely level. The staff throughout the park are friendly and courteous; those running the office seem a bit glum. Well off the interstate so there is little traffic noise. Conveniently located for visiting San Antonio to the southwest or New Braunfels, Gruene, San Marcos, the water parks and Canyon Lake area. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Wintered over here. Decent monthly rate ($460), plus electric (reasonable rate). This park has the best dog parks I've seen. One for big dogs with agility equipment, picnic table and benches for the humans. Separate park for dogs under 25 pounds with appropriately sized agility equipment. Adult pool/hot tub area is always clean. Family pool is closed for winter. There are 2 parts to this park. The "nicer" side has shaded concrete patio areas, etc. Very nice. There are many permanent residents in this park, and they are separated from the seasonal/short-term RVers. Activities during the winter. Close to everything you'd want to see/do in/around San Antonio. Now to the "other" side. It's "adequate". Sardine-style RV sites. Fortunately, I had good neighbors. Many are military as this park is very close to Randolph AFB. The fighters jets fly overhead every day M-F. You get used to their sound, and actually miss it on the weekend. There were some short-term, not so great neighbors. 90% of the time, all was well. That 10% with some "shady" neighbors involved theft of equipment from several of the RVs, including opening bay doors and stealing propane tanks from 5th wheels. We all learned to lock our stuff. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great park for overnight or long term stay. Back off the highway, so noise was minimal. Well groomed. Used hot tub, area was clean and water was warm. Will stop again when I am in the area. Cover for picnic table on concrete pad. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Site was very unlevel and had to use 4" blocks to get level within acceptable range and rig was not perfectly level. Front to back was great. We stayed here because it was convenient to San Antonio, New Braunfels and San Marcos. Water required 2 hoses as did sewer. Sewer connection was at small concrete pad and such that although I could add my threaded adapter the hose barely connected. Layout such as this makes it very easy to cause connection to leak. Park is mostly with full time trailers who had lots of stuff outside. Didn't bother me but other things did. Rate of $39.00/night is high for what you receive. We stayed 7 nights at the $275.00 weekly rate. Monthly power is a whopping $450. No discounts. Although there was signs for Good Sam and Passport America they no longer participate. Wifi had lots of signals but dropped off line quite often. Enough to cause one to be frustrated. Permanent residents told me that has been the case forever. Management was unconcerned about Wifi but with many permanent residents and over 240 sites they have no incentive to improve. Cable is advertised but it is Direct TV and only 17 channels available. If you stay here entrance has a speed bump that IS NOT painted for identification although there is a small yellow post and sign on the right when entering. Additional unmarked speed bumps throughout park. Sites were extremely wide and parking room is good. I will not stay here again. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is at exit 177. Many places to eat and Cooper's BBQ is at exit 189 and west about 1 1/2 Miles. I believe that is the same road to Greune which is a must see. San Marcos outlet mall is exit 200.

Our stay was not by choice. We were stranded in San Antonio due to an axle failure on our travel trailer that took two weeks to get the parts. We paid a week at a time by check. The second check paid for an entire week, but the parts arrived on the fourth day. To get a refund for the three days we did not need we had to prove that our check had cleared at their bank. Once that was proven, they refunded our unused three days with a check! We immediately went to their bank and cashed it. They don't trust us even when I showed them our account had an enormous balance. We see one of the reviews that mentioned how one of the office managers needs to learn how to smile once in a while. We noticed that during the time we camped there. Maybe she is a very shy person, but it is something that we observed every time we went to the office. To us it was funny to see how she avoids smiling. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. Sites have concrete, covered patio with picnic table (minor issue - our awning hit the patio roof, so we couldn't fully open it). Hot tub was actually hot (most parks seem to have warm tubs). Huge rec room, although there were no planned activities while we were there (2 weeks). Fairly large pull-through sites. The sites were somewhat slanted to the left, but this was easily overcome with levelers and meant that the tanks drained easily (sewer hole was lower than hookups). Fresh water spigot was 20 ft from sewer, which was nice for cleanliness, but we needed to use a long hose. Only negative - the trains are frequent and noisy (they blow their horns because the local train crossing only have markers, not crossing gates). We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Alamo (better than expected). Alamo 4D experience (so-so). The Buckhorn - wow! Zoo - best we've been to. Botanical Gardens - very good. HEB - wow (better than any we've ever seen except maybe City Market in Bothell WA). Naegelin's bakery (a decent bakery, but not a destination worth a special trip). Friesenhaus (great German fried potatoes, strudel was so-so). Tejas rodeo (lots of fun, especially for pre-teens). Other things (e.g. Schlitterbahn, upscale skeet ranges, huge shopping malls).

Overall Rating:

Stayed here for the month of February. Large park but everyone is super friendly. Spots are a decent size but gravel and not very even. Many activities offered, i.e., Pot lucks, Super Bowl party, painting classes, ice-cream night and bingo. Very dog friendly with two dog runs and agility courses. The hot tub is hot, deep and clean. Pool is not heated and freezing. Wonderful laundry facilities with 10 washers and dryers.

You definitely need a car to get around for shopping and restaurants. We received several deliveries without any issues. My only knock is that while most staff were very friendly, the one woman who manages the front office could learn to smile once in a while. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Harmon's bbq in Cibolo is close to as perfect and perfect can get! Simply delicious! Bill Miller's was a very close second! Plaza Pizza and Wings makes a great New York pizza (4 miles away and they don't deliver). Walmart is close by but don't skip HEB across the street, fantastic selection with comparable prices.

Be sure to visit the Natural Bridge Caverns. Beautiful.

We had made reservations, however when we arrived someone was in the site they told us to take. They were quite helpful at the office and told us to take another site, however it was beyond a tight pull through (been full timing for 6 years, so know a tight turn). The turn could not be made because of trees and some type of patio, however they were more than willing to come and trim the trees so we did get into the site. Once we were in we realized all sites on this road tipped a lot on the downhill side so we had to use extra blocking on the tires to be reasonably level. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

So I have been here for over a year and here are my observations. Firstly, I have experienced the park raising their rates 2 times since I have been here, but nothing has changed by way of service or amenities. As a matter of fact the internet/wifi has gotten slower to the point of not working at all. Second, the roads and RV spots are in very poor condition, bumpy and uneven. Lastly there is one particular employee (who does what around the park I'm not sure), but acts as though he is super cop or some kind of enforcement who will bark at you for doing well about anything, so just read the rule book very well and believe me they have quite a few rules around here. To summarize, prices are way too high for what your getting. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Having stayed at this park many times over the 4 to 5 years we noticed this time there are a lot of "permanent residents" and the property is showing lots of wear and tear. The bathrooms, laundry, and community buildings need painting inside and outside, along with a good deep cleaning. The first 3 rows of sites closest to the office are the most level and maintained. The access to I-35 is easy. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Entry to the park is very nice and so is the area right around the office. Out side of that, the sites are not well kept needing mowing etc. They are not very level. Our neighbor's front wheels were nearly a foot off the ground. There is also a definite slope to the side also. This appears true for most of the park. Roads are pot holed pretty bad in places. Office thought we did not pay and we had to bring in our receipt to show that we did. We stayed here for two days and I would not stay here again. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

The lady at check-in was not friendly at all, except to tell me the price. The sites are gravel and uneven. People don't follow quiet time rules, internet is horrible and we were right in front of the check-in building, dog park was clean but in need of minor repairs. The biggest complaint is how unfriendly these people are and that they really just don't care they're like that. We won't stay there again. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Stay closer to San Antonio if that's where you'll be most the time. It's 30 minutes away from here. And the traffic and construction are ridiculous. Sea World is 45 minutes away so again stay closer to where you'll be spending your time. Texas drivers don't care who they cut off and don't use turn signals.

The first visit was great, which is why we returned. Short-term visits get you nice sites with covered patios. We came back as long term and we were put in a very small unlevel spot. We were put by run down mobile homes. The biggest complaint is the laundry water going into the creek. It smells horrible and has to be contaminating the ground. The dog parks and swimming pools are nice and the staff does do nice social activities. We moved after 1 month. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

The rest rooms & showers are co-ed and need remodeling badly. WiFi was super weak also limited cable channels. The park has a lot of long term people. The pool and spa were enjoyable, the park overall was very neat looking & very Texas. We stayed a week in our 5th wheel. The people were great. We camped at Stone Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
