Wonderful Caverns to explore right next to campground, $20 per adult. Gift shop with beautiful peacocks roaming about. Gravel sites, enjoyed out stay here. Located 8 miles away from I-10 so very quiet. Located in a remote country atmosphere. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Excellent tour of the caverns available. Gift shop. No other stores or services in the immediate area.

Caverns of Sonora campground in Sonora, Texas is a very rustic, small campground where you can visit the Caverns of Sonora. We camped there in an our 34th fifth wheel and had a gravel, pull through site, which was very spacious. There were 48 sites with only water and electricity, a few of which were pull-thrus. There is no dump station The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating. The campground gift shop was beautiful and had many unique items for sale. By being there after Christmas, everything in the store was half-price, except for food, drinks and their famous fudge! We were able to buy some Palestine onyx and also a salt rock lamp. These items were from Tucson, many of which are available at the Tucson Rock and Gem show which is held in February. We went ahead and bought the items at the gift shop because they were 50% off. We saw many deer who were very easy to photograph and also peacocks. This is the only campground in Sonora Texas, but it is well worth the stop. We did not visit the Caverns, because we had been driving all day and were told that there were 360 steps down into the 155 foot deep Caverns and also that the heat and humidity in the Caverns was quite high. , We were told that people had been in caverns all over the world and said that these Caverns were the best. The ticket price for adults for the Caverns is $20 per person. We would definitely camp here again. Pets are welcome. The Campground is located about 8 miles from I-10 . Several of the campsites had just received new electrical hook ups. We had a wonderful time!! We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campsie zip off of i-10 about 8 miles. Approximately 1 miles was on APAC on a packed gravel road. As mentioned in other reviews entrance into the few pull through RV sites is tight. All of the RV sites are on a packed gravel base. There was no cable and Verizon service was minimal. Surrounding the RV ares are well kept grounds and tent areas. We saw abundant wildlife. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The tour of the caverns was worth the drive to this location.

Great stop along this stretch of I10. A few miles off of road - quiet and dark. The caverns were as good as Carlsbad - smaller, more intimate but just as enjoyable. As other reviews noted, the spaces were tight, no wifi or dump but the electricity was fine at our site, although nearby sites were not working. You don't go there for a great RV park but for the great caverns. Nice staff. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Caverns are by tour only. Book your cavern tour reservation when you arrive for the next morning. We missed a tour and had to wait over an hour for the next tour as they were a little short handed.

Nothing very close so stop for supplies prior to leaving I-10

Not many options on this stretch of I-10 and great for seeing the Caverns (which you should do as long as you've made the trip from the Interstate). Nice, quiet country setting. Electric boxes look pretty sad but tested and worked ok. Marginal Verizon data signal, ok voice service. Obviously developed before todays big rigs became commonplace with very close site spacing but parking is doable - even though every single post protecting the utility hookups from too tight a right turn was displaced/gouged. The level of difficulty experienced will likely depend on how many, how long and how considerate others are. Me - I'd shoot for being there as early as I could to have as much manuever room as possible. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were traveling across I-10 from El Paso to San Antonio and needed a place to stay for the nite and came across this campground. No reservations taken, small little campground with pull-throughs and tent sites and it was a great stop for one nite. The big benefit here is that you were camping next to some of the nicest "show caves" we've seen in our travels. It's good for a one nite stay, don't need to unhook, enjoy the caverns and be on your way the next day. No reception of any kind for us, phone, internet, TV. No dump. Beautiful scenery surrounding the place. Would definitely stay again. Had some issues with electric. Check your pedestal before hooking up. You might have to move. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

What a great stop. We came and stayed a couple of nights in their campground.

The campground consists of a nice tenting area and RV sites. They do have electric and water but no sewer. There is also a bath/shower house. It was clean, but no hot water. The RV sites are very close together.

Went on one of their 1 1/2 -2 hour tours. The guide was excellent.

Have been to quite a few caverns, caves. This one is definitely the best we've ever been to.

Eighty percent of this cave is still alive. A huge difference! Never seen so many different kinds of formations. They keep the entrances sealed so that the fresh air does not kill the formations. There are cement paths and lighting throughout the actual tour. Ended up walking about a mile and a half.

Wear good shoes, it is slippery in some spots. Also, you do not need a coat, it is very warm. With the humidity it is about 85 degrees.

Definitely worth the stop. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sites are gravel, filled up quickly, No reservations taken, NO DUMP station so be clean when you arrive! Gravel sites very close to each other a few trees. Water and electric only! There is a peacock on the premises so be prepared to hear it screech. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park well off IH-10. But a good place to stop since we got off of our schedule due to a blow-out and needing to replace the shredded tire.

Sites are quite tight, a MH could not navigate into the site next ours. I didn't think I could make it either (luckily I had checked in just before him) but the next sites down the road are quite easy to get into.

I would visit again but honestly, IH-10 is such a bad highway I don't ever want to travel on this section again. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Checkin was very easy. I was the first one there. They didn't take reservations. It is a private park so there were no discounts, but the price is reasonable for an overnight stay. I checked out the bathrooms and shower for the campers, and thought they were just a bit dingy. Not a place I'd want to visit in the evening; however, the restrooms for the Caverns were well lighted and clean and even closer. It was a little tricky to park my 32' with toad, but managed to do it. I was told to check out the electric service to find one that would work. That didn't sound promising, and sure enough, the first one I picked didn't have 50 amp, but the next one did. I didn't need to level up and had a good time watching all the deer feeding in the evening and morning. It was absolutely silent at night, and fairly dark, which is great. I would come here again. It was easy to find and get to. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For $20, the 2 hour Cavern tour was a great value. It was somewhat strenuous, but worth it. A great variety of formations in this live cave. The gift shop had some food items--snacks, ice cream, and this great fudge in several varieties. And lots of fossils, rocks, and minerals for sale. The folks that were running it were very nice too.

We stayed here just to tour the caverns, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed them. The camping area is minimal at best. Just gravel and dirt. Utilities were acceptable. The store and sandwich counter is interesting. One night was plenty to see the caverns and grab dinner in the small town of Sonora. It's worth the stop off of the freeway. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Convenience to the beautiful cavern was the selling point for us. The sites were basically primitive with electric and water only. Level. If they just did a little bit of maintenance, this place would be really beautiful. Peacocks and deer running around. Not much else to do around town. There was a full-timer who took up 4 spots and had a bunch of junk strewn around the "nicest area". Wi-Fi was available, but very spotty. No phone service via AT&T. Nice little campground, as advertised, no black water dump on-site, but also none within several miles. Caverns were well worth the stay. If you stay here check the power before you pull in. Not all posts have 50amp. That being said, it is a must see and the campground is just too convenient not to use. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Basic park with 20/30/50 amp power and water available. Pull-thru sites were on the narrow side, but plenty wide enough to extend our slides. No shade in the pull-thrus for the coach, but our spot was next to a large shade tree so were able to put our chairs under it to get out of the sun. The REAL attraction to this park though are the caverns and the quiet rural setting with peacocks and guinea hens roaming around. We arrived early enough in the day to take the 2 hour cave tour after setting up camp. Local, knowledgeable, passionate guide lead a small group of us through this very interesting cave complex. See Trip Advisor for reviews about the cave tour. We would stay here again We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very rustic property. It is Texas Hill Country. The attraction is the guided tour of the Sonora Cave which is spectacular and was well worth our overnight. Only guided tours offered and the guide was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed this cave tour. Tours are optional, but guided tours are $20 per person. Pull throughs are $20 per night. Electric box is ancient, but 50 amps worked. Pull throughs are gravel and weeds. Mosquitos at night. Turkeys, guinea hens and deer late in the afternoon. Gift shop is all modern. DelicIous home made fudge for sale. Did not go into baths or showers. Road off I-10 to cave is about 6-7 miles, but well marked with signs. There is one steep up and down hill to go over. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.
