I am rating this park a "10". It is not a resort but it is a gem. Water and electric only. No reservations so you need to arrive early if you want to get in. If you want quiet and peaceful, this is it. The park sits right on the river. We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was very easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Views are of the local low mountains and grasslands. Lanes within the park are wide enough and gravel. Sites are very long and wide and surfaced with tiny crushed granite that is very clean. Sites are easily twice the size of sites in most RV parks. Some sites have trees. And there is a bit of grass between sites. Site includes a patio with patio furniture and a great grill/smoker. Utilities are well placed and work well. AT&T Cell service and Verizon Broadband worked well. Park WIFI is great. Good cable TV and good satellite reception. A great large off leash fenced dog park. . We are here in November so no bugs. Can't wait to return to this great RV park for a day or two to revisit the caverns and just relax. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites themselves are nothing to write home about. They are small, and most have no trees. However, our site was shaded as there was no one else in the pull-thru section when we arrived, and we got to choose our own spot. The facility is amazing. Just next to the sites are fields, deer, and historical relics. The store has great ambience and gifts, and a little ice cream shop. The highlight was the caverns. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and personable, and the caverns are breathtaking. Because of the caverns, there are no sewer hookups or dump station, and the road to get to the facility is winding with steep grades, but it is paved, and the scenery is beautiful. Well worth the stop if you're in the area! We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

We had the pull-through section of the RV park to ourselves. The sites are tight and took us a couple of passes through to get situated. Several need to have tree branches trimmed back to be usable for today's taller rigs. Had there been many others (or any at all) in the park it could have been difficult to maneuver. 50 amp pedestals appear new. There is a row of back-in sites for very short campers; looks like a place for the tow vehicle might be a problem there. Overall, the park is well off the highway. Tent camping is available, but a good distance from the RVs. Wildlife in abundance roams at dawn and dusk. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The sites are quite cramped, and though they are angled pull throughs, we had to back-and-forth quite a bit to get comfortable. Thankfully no one needed the site on one side, or they would not have been able to put out slides.

The park is clean, though a bit shabby. The men's restrooms were clean with adequate showers (according to my husband). The women's showers were dribbly, so I opted to shower in the trailer.

This is a first-come, first served campground, with few sites. The pull throughs are wonky so difficult to park in. The back ins are for shorter vehicles. If a pull through is not available, you can use a back in until one comes available. Most people stay only 1-2 nights.

The park is quiet, except for the peacocks. Deer wander through, also, as well as wild turkeys. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The cavern tour is excellent. The first dormant part is a bit dry, but the living cave section is wonderful, very intimate, as everything is right there, but do not touch!!

Big rig access? I don't think so! Their info and receptionist said they did, however the turns were too tight, the pedestal leaned in the site we were finally able to manuever into. The only other site offered had an outlet box on a long cord tossed in the grass. Be ready to do some back and forth, and USE A SPOTTER BEFORE YOU THINK YOU NEED ONE, if you go in a 42-foot rig. Great place to stay to see the caverns which are exquisite. Campground is basic but uncrowded. Had deer nibbling next to my trailer. The cave has fantastic smaller formations covering everything in the lower cave. The cave is warm and humid with thick air to the point of being uncomfortable but it was well worth the effort. Nice gift/ rock shop. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Let's be clear, this is not anywhere you want to stay more than 1 night. There is absolutely NOTHING around here except the caverns. This is a parking lot but you can walk out your door, and right into the cavern. Get here early. I arrived at 12pm and was the 1st one here. By 6pm it was completely full. In the morning, it cleared out again. With that said, the caverns are spectacular. If you're anywhere near here, and you want an overnight and something amazing, stay here, see the caverns. Then move on. It's perfect for that if you know that going into it. There is no dump onsite. Nearest dump is 6 miles away. Site accessibility (Roads in are good. The sites themselves are extremely cramped) - 2 Campground location (Perfect for the caverns, NOTHING else) - 3 Nearby amenities (Absolutely nothing nearby) - 1 Site Privacy (0 privacy, this is a parking lot) - 2 Campground amenities (Bathrooms were clean, good gift shop, no onsite dump) - 2 Dog friendly (Not a lot of walking space, filled with deer poop) - 3 Activities (Cavern was spectacular) - 5 Cost ($25/night for 50amp W/E) - 5 Staff friendliness (staff is wacky but fun and nice) - 5 Connectivity (Barely usable cell w/out a booster. Usable after booster for both ATT and Verizon. There are a lot of dead areas as you walk around) - 2 Total rating = 3.0. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a decent choice if you want to visit the caverns. Otherwise, there is not much reason to stay here. The pull-through sites are the most narrow and closely packed I have ever seen. We could not put all of our slides out due to trees and proximity to neighbors. As it was, I could have reached out my window and touched the trailer next to us. There is no sewer due to fear of contamination of the cave. 50amp electric was available, as was water. We didn't bother to hookup to the water. We decided to stay for 2 nights as we arrived later on night #1 and wanted to see the cave the next day. The campground is 8 or 10 miles off the interstate in the middle of nowhere. Roads to the campground are good. There is a nice gift shop but no camping supplies and no food other than homemade fudge. There is literally nothing around. No food, no gas, nothing. No WiFi, and no service for AT&T. Verizon works ok. No reservations taken and the pull through campground filled by 6pm. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

We are new full time RVers. However, we have stayed in other parks with friends and family. This park is one of the worst parks I have ever seen. I have been planning our trip to Oregon for months. This park has a eye-catching website; it led me to believe it was beautiful! NOT!!! The spaces were so tight; tree limbs were hanging down. The one nice employee came to cut some limbs down so we would not scratch our coach. Another employee yelled at him and told him NOT to cut the limb down. Even the nice employee said this place was a dump. NO wifi connection although they advertise they have it. My personal hotspot barely picks up reception. We are leaving first thing in the morning. Save your money and go to Carlsbad Caverns. :( We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here only as an overnight traveling from Arizona to Houston on I-10. That is a very long, sparsely populated stretch of road, and we try to keep our miles under 300 per day in the heat of summer. Sonora was our stop from Van Horn, Tx. This park is off the beaten path. It is about 8 miles off of I-10, in the middle of nowhere. The town of Sonora is 15 miles east of the park. The RV park is in the Caverns of Sonara attraction. The store is big, and stocked with nice gifts, as well as homemade fudge, but no camping staples. The staff was friendly. You can take guided tours through the caverns. (We did not.) The park itself was empty, they have several pull throughs and some back ins. We did not need reservations due to the time of year. We were the only campers with the exception of someone we think worked here. Lots of deer on the premises. They have water and electric, but no sewer. All in all, a nice park. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

We visited here to tour the caverns but then found that the distance was too far (1.5 to 2 miles underground) for my disabled back to try. We were the only ones on the CG the first night. That made the tight geometry easier to work out. The utility peds (there is no sewer to avoid possible contamination of the caverns) are very close to a fence line. I could not pull in the way the staff advised. I went around and pulled in backwards, getting the benefit of some shade. Since there was only W&E, I ran the lines under the trailer and hooked from the "wrong" side. This place provided a great place to relax for a couple of days after five weeks on the road. No TV. No Wi-Fi. Almost no AT&T (go up to the office) phone. We will stay here again when the weather is cooler. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

If you want to see the Caverns this is a great place to stay. There were about ten pull-through spaces, plus several other sites. The sites were spacious enough you didn't feel you were in your neighbor's unit. Parking was on gravel and fairly level. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. A treed area close-by had a picnic tables, and there were also tables in the area reserved for tent camping. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A gift store/office will get you some snacks, etc., but if you wanted a meal fixed by someone else, you would have to drive to Sonora, approximately 20 miles away. For the birder, there must have been at least a dozen species to see, including a beautiful peacock in the residential area. The tour of the Caverns is a must-see.

The main reason to stay here is to take the tour through the very spectacular caverns. The staff is very friendly. The pull through sites are a little tight, especially for longer trailers due to the limited access drive by the fence line. Motor homes will have an easier time. It was made a little easier for us by arriving early in the afternoon. The RV sites were pretty well filled by the end of the day. Note that the restrooms up by the store & visitor center are nice, but the ones by the RV sites are a little older and not quite as spiffy, though clean. I recommend this park, not as a destination in and of itself, but for the caverns. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a cute quiet campground. It is small older and not fancy but very pleasant. There were deer by a feeder on a regular basis 30' from my trailer. I was met on the steps by a unconcerned peacock. The drawback to this park is the parking spots are a little tight to maneuver if you've a long rig; though rv'ers are a helpful group and its very doable. I've a 32' trailer I pull so I'm quite long. The park appears to be upgrading and with the available space I saw it's likely the back-ins will be much easier soon. The personnel were very helpful.
I stopped during off season and it was very easy to maneuver since only 6 other trailers were there. We camped at Caverns of Sonora RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
