We were here for three nights and they were having their flea market days. It rained off and on but the concrete pads were clean and level. You can not do anything about the rain and the mud that comes with the rain. Nose from the freeway is very audible as the overpass foundation rubles every time a big truck passes over, which is constant. The city of Winnie is very friendly and small. The campground utilities worked great except the water pressure is very high. We had to use two regulators to be safe. The owners were friendly and helpful and all in all this was a very acceptable campground, especially the price. Pricing at the flea market was something else. High prices for mostly made in China Walmart stuff or inflated prices for homemade knock knacks. - JWT

A mud hole, and there was no one around the office. - The_Texan
Jan 2010 - $18.00
We never saw anyone as the office was closed from Friday thru Sunday morning when we left. Concrete pull through pads were adequate and required only a little leveling. The grass sites without pads would not be very good if the weather was bad like our weekend. - JWT
Feb 2018 - $30.00
It is an ok place for a quick overnight stay. Has all of the necessarily hookups. Only thing is the constant noise from the nearby interstate. Thus is one that you get what you pay for. A cheap place to stop overnight. - jprder

Close to highway. Traffic noise. Level, concrete sites with FHU. Looked like most were long term residents, but all sites were neat and well kept. We had no picnic table or fire ring.as I understood, campers had use of pool, ice machine, etc. CG met our needs for three nights, but I wouldn't want to spend a long period of time here. - billL
Aug 2016 - $35.00
We stayed here for 9 days and the grass was never mowed around the RV sites or the surrounding areas. The grass was up to 18 inches when we left. We had to use our own weed eater just to clear an area outside our steps of the RV to go outside after 3 days of being here. Mosquitoes were horrendous as well. Standing water at a few RV sites. - invstgatr1
Apr 2018 - $30.00
Small privately owned park in High Island Texas. Full hookups, WiFi, long pull through site. Sites close together but overall atmosphere made the experience worth it. Here for famous spring bird migration and it didn't disappoint. Not much in way of services in town. Have to drive few miles for groceries. Will definitely return. Owner and other staff very helpful. - smitty12
Mar 2018 - $30.00
The sites were a bit tight but the park is clean. Used their laundry which was clean. Check-in very efficient and staff friendly. We just stayed the one night and would stay again. - Rhodie
Jan 2018 - $23.00
(Rate shown is based on a weekly stay). Tight but pretty little campground, well maintained and taken care of. The owner is very nice and friendly. The FHU worked well with strong electrical. Weakish but reliable AT&T signal and quite a few OTA channels (no cable TV available). Big rigs will fit but require careful maneuvering; the pads are just long enough and the turns are tight. On the other hand there is ample parking room for tow vehicles or toads. Lots of grassy areas and some landscaping made the park appealing to us. There is one convenience store and one post office in High Island and that's about it (Hurricane Ike pretty much devastated the town and it never recovered); a 15-minute ride due north to Winnie is required for most everything (groceries, propane, etc.). The area is a birder's paradise with four Audubon bird sanctuaries within High Island proper, and Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge just a short drive away. Even during our stay in January, birds (egrets, heron, geese, spoonbills, raptors, etc.) were plentiful near and around town. I'm told it's quite difficult to get a spot in the campground during March and April, at the height of the migration. - wolf59a

This no frills campground had nice views of the Bayou. Ample room to walk your dog. All amenities worked well. Management was very nice. Gated at night. We stayed one night and would recommend it. - CJVJn1Doug
Aug 2016 - $18.00
Nice campground! We stayed overnight. The manager was very helpful. She made sure we had a site that was big enough for us. We ended up back by the Bayou, which we enjoyed the view tremendously. Restrooms and showers were clean. Lots were spacious and offered some shade. Site surface was gravel.
My husband left his Fitbit in the shower room (his mistake) & it was not there when he went back to look for it. He talked to the manager. She even came up to our camper to let us know she would try to find out where it was & if it was returned, she would mail it back to us.
A couple weeks after we were home, we received a Certified package with the Fitbit in it. We were so surprised & appreciated what she did. (We refunded her the money it cost her to mail it to us Certified!)
We will definitely stay here again, on our way through Texas next time. - Patrick-Maryann
May 2016 - $25.00
I should have read the reviews prior to booking our stay. The management is awful and the park shows it. We selected the campground from the website but it it nothing like the website at all. The sites are right on top of each other and the sites are literally a mud hole. The management, namely the woman, is extremely rude and just horrendous. She literally looks for ways to cause issues with herself and the campers. Since we arrived we have been followed, stalked, and nit-picked to death. She has taken micro managing to a new level. The sites are also very noisy as the park is right next to the highway and has no privacy fencing. The showers are dirty and in desperate need of repair as is the laundry room. There are also cats everywhere! They have been in our vehicles and on all over our outdoor furniture scratching it up and spraying on them. Without saying, we will never return. - MelK
Feb 2018 - $35.00
Excellent small park. Looks new and well maintained. Only problem was a barking dog and the park owner came out and told the dog owner to take his dog in. No more barking dog. - sandawilliams
May 2018 - $20.00
Nice large concrete sites is road to maneuver All full hook ups. - JustDon
Mar 2012 - $8.00
The rate is a monthly rate $220. This is a small, quiet, and secluded park that is very well maintained. We stayed for a month and enjoyed it. Showers and laundry area were a small but clean. - flamingdandelions
