We stayed here for one week to visit Big Bend National Park. The campground offers full hookups with 30/50 amps. There are also washers and dryers available for a $2.50 per load fee. It is the honor system and you place your money in a basket. The owner lives on site and is very accommodating and friendly. They only take cash or checks. The sites are spacious and long, but there are no trees for shade. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Really enjoyed spending time on the front porch in ghost town. Met a lot of the locals and learned a lot about the history of the area from them. Must take the drive from Terlingua to Presidio, beautiful. Also, eat at the Starlight Saloon!

We were very pleased with the park. It sits about 10 miles outside of Big Bend in a little town called Terlingua. The hosts were the most gracious people. You are in the desert/mountains when you come to Big Bend so don't expect anything else. You will be sitting in a desert oasis when you get here . The Wi-Fi worked well for everything and was secured. The price was right, the electric was 30/50, water was good and all the sites I saw were very level and you were not stuck up somebodies butt, plus they were pretty spacious for an RV site. They can handle big rigs and had quite a few pull troughs. We were here for a week and had PLENTY to keep us occupied. Big Bend is an amazing place. Not a lot of amenities in town but had EVERYTHING you needed. We felt right at home, had a wonder time and would definitely come back again. Come on down and ENJOY. You really should make a reservation to assure that you get a spot. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Investigate Big Bend..... Make sure you take the ride down 170 towards Presidio. Go to the Hot Springs and soak in there and jump in the Rio Grande to cool off.

Thought this was a great little RV park in the desert. This is a basic campground with everything you need-power, water, laundry, we are minimalists and don't need a whole lot to make us happy. We were in the new section with 30amp power, (we think going to 50 amp when finished) back in site. Plenty of room. No actual pad site yet as it is a work in progress, but we put out our mat on the dirt and it was just fine. There are a few snowbirds wintering here and all were lovely and helpful. Had a potluck get together on the weekend which was fun. They shared great information on hikes in the area as well as Big Bend. Wifi was good. Verizon was 3g and worked fine. They try to keep the park with minimal lighting at night for the stars. We had a full moon, so we didn't get to enjoy that part. Everyone was friendly, we ended up staying an extra day. Will return, hopefully during a new moon. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a well stocked market in the town of Study Butte a couple of miles up the road. We opted to stay on this side as we wanted to do the 170 scenic byway drive through Lajitas to Presidio. Excellent! So glad we did it. A little bit of a drive into Big Bend, but we spent most of our time on this side of the park. The Ross Maxwell drive is a must as well as the Santa Elena hike.

Very small park in the desert so expect dust and cactus. Very friendly staff. Laundry room very small. Okay for overnight while checking out scenic Big Bend National Park. No discounts available and price seems high. Nice large sites with FHU. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 3 nights. Only saw management once, and that was to pay the bill. I am surprised at all the reviews praising customer service. Hookups and wifi worked well. No cable. Verizon signal was good. The park was like a very generously spaced parking lot. Don't think I'd return. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

One of the best parks ever! There is no pool, no kids area, no store, no dog play area, really nothing outstanding. The sites are level, water and WiFi excellent. There is no grass (this is Terlingua) and only small trees. What makes this park outstanding is the people. It is immaculately clean, the manager cleans the dust off the picnic tables daily, and the laundry facilities are excellent. The owner guided us to hiking trails that weren't on any maps. They grilled ribs for the whole park one night, with everyone bringing a side dish. Also, the snowbirds are very friendly and welcoming. Many have been coming here for years. One has been coming to BJ's for over 30 years. One of the things I noticed was the lack of dust. Dust is a problem many places when the wind is blowing, and it always is. Somehow, we had no dust, and that is a big consideration. Not everyone will appreciate Terlingua, Big Bend, or BJ's, but we loved it. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is an anomaly. As you drive up and into the park you think, how did this dump get such good reviews. Agree that the people are very friendly and helpful.
Site was level but close together. Utilities worked well. I got extended Verizon 3G service at the campground. Bathrooms and laundry clean. Water pressure low at 30 psi. I had just enough room to manuever my 40 foot fifth wheel. Wifi was just ok. My Wifi complaint is that they block a lot
of websites. Example, I wanted to check my bank and it wouldn't go through so good thing it wasn't urgent. Wifi was pretty quick for the basics email that it allowed
you to access. The park served it's purpose without the complaints of the other park a few miles away. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is by no means an oasis in the desert, but it's a very good place to park your camper while you are visiting the desert. Bud and Irene, the current owners, are super nice and more than willing to help in any way possible. Bud helped us get the rig parked, making sure everything was ok. Later he came over with a map and gave us some great advice about touring Big Bend NP. Later that evening, they had a campfire for all the visitors. The park has been sold, and new owners will be taking over soon. I was told by some of the friendly locals that the new owners are very nice folks, too. It would surprise me if they weren't, as everyone we met in Terlingua was really nice to us. Great place to visit. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Bend is super to see. Allow a minimum of two days to see the park. More if you can manage it. No fancy restaurants, but the ones we visited were good and the people are all super friendly.

I will concur with other comments by herbee in Jan 2016. We called and made a reservation, pay when you get there. Bud came out and met us as we pulled in and showed us to our site. Sites are large and level, you are in the desert, no grass, just gravel and dirt. Water pressure and electric good, ATT cell service 3 & 4 bar 3G. Park WIFI best I have had to date, very fast. Small Rv park with 2 showers/bathrooms in a mobile home as well as washer/dryer, kitchen and rec area, all were very clean. Bud had a campfire that night a bunch of campers sat around and socialized. Very clean, small and quiet park. Irene provided us with information on Big Bend NP and Ranch SP. Bud and Irene have recently sold and I believe the new owners should continue the nice atmosphere that we encountered here. Will definitely stay here if in the area again. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We found the west side of Big Bend, drive to Santa Elena Canyon and the drive west on Hwy 170 through Big Bend Ranch State Park towards Presidio very scenic and enjoyable. East side of Big Bend to boquillas canyon was ok.

This quickly became a favorite park of ours. We pulled into BJ's just before dark on a dreary Saturday evening and the camp host came out to meet us and welcome us to the park. They showed us to our site and we discussed the best way for us to pull in and get situated.

The park itself is nothing fancy. It has good power, level/gravel sites and strong/stable WiFi. Restrooms are clean and well cared for. It has everything you need...plus a very nice smoker.

The people are what really make this park stand out. It has a very warm, friendly atmosphere that keeps many guests coming back year-after-year. This is a place to come for good friends and conversation around a campfire.

We stayed two weeks and wished we could have stayed longer. We'll definitely be back next chance we get. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You're just a couple minutes from Big Bend National Park, which is a must see. There's also a market in town with a surprisingly good selection and a couple restaurants that are very good.

Verizon and Sprint service is enough to make a phone call or text, but that's about it.

Rate is based on weekly stay. We stayed for a week and will stay again next time we are in the area. Amenities are "interesting" from the outside but neat, clean, and good to use. Virtually no shade, but we are in a desert. Sites are level, gravel, and due to be fine tuned during the summer. WiFi is strong and consistent. No local TV but satellite reception is fine. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. We came here on word of mouth recommendation and are truly glad we did. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

The only RV park in town. Close to the west entrance of Big Bend National Park. Next to the Terlinqua Chili Cook-off site, gravel & sand with mostly level sites and decent utilities. Strong Wi-Fi, no on-the-air TV. Power spiked seven times over 134 volts and our EMS disconnected each time. Host is friendly enough. There are no CG activities or amenities. Ghost Town Terlinqua has some interesting sites and businesses. The trees have been planted and being tended, showing new growth. You don't have any choices in this part of TEXAS. The CG is acceptable but not a great place. Laundry $5, showers $4 in dated and not very clean bathroom in the old Mobile Home they use as an activity center. The choices within Big Bend NP are a little better but also much higher priced. Most CG's in the park are primitive and this is Chihuahuan Desert. If we do return to the area we won't have much choice but to return here. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There isn't much choice in this area. Campground is dirt/gravel level sites, but well maintained with hookups easily accessible. Full sun, no shade. Sites are right next to each other like a parking lot. Hardly anyone there this time of year, so we had plenty of room. Restrooms (2 uni-sex bathrooms) with showers along with a washer & dryer are in an old trailer. Park is right off the main road and close to the entrance of Big Bend. Had the best steaks at the Starlight Theatre. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Enjoyed 4 nights here. Clean, but of course dusty in the desert and no shade. Wi-Fi worked great. Power and water were reliable. Convenient to town and Big Bend. The park is a little farther from Big Bend National Park than several others, but we liked the look of it better. The owners are very friendly. They have small gatherings and off-site excursions for food and entertainment to which you are invited to participate if desired. We are staying an extra week because we have enjoyed our time here. We will return. There are plans to plants trees in the near future. We would recommend this park to others. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
