We chose this park because of the previous reviews. We didn't expect too much as it was listed just as a good place to use as a base. We expected to find a clean, maintained, serviced place to park. Access to the park is good. Signage from the highway is adequate. The welcome sign telling you how, and where, to pay was small and low. We missed it. The "Office" is partially built.....no walls...just a chair and a desk under a roof. But no one used it anyway. During our two day stay we did not see anyone official just a few other guests. One of the permanents explained to us how and where to pay. The perimeter roads are rutted dirt with small arroyos forming. Our site (9) was reasonably level, narrow, weed covered dirt. It came with a table. The utilities did work as expected. We poked out heads into the washrooms and they appeared to be maintained but the grounds were disgusting. There was doggy doo everywhere. Garbage bins overflowing. The utility area for our site and others was ringed with stone that was falling apart. Weeds filled the ring. This is high desert and we did not expect much in the way of foliage. This park seems to be just a cash cow. No attempt at maintenance or even a slight bit of beautification has been made. It's a $20.00 park in my opinion. Verizon cell service was limited. Our Verizon Jet Pack could not pick up a signal. The Camps internet was hopeless most times. There are no restaurants or services nearby. We paid $32.00 night and will not return. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Terlingua area is worthwhile seeing. The short hike to Santa Elena Canyon was very nice. If you have a 4X4 or high clearance vehicle drive the Old Maverick Trail. Very nice views.

Its 101 degrees and they turned the water off. Never told us ahead of time so we could prepare. After 24 hrs it was still off. Manager was never to be seen. The showers if available are $4.00. The pits. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

We made reservations which required one night deposit via snail mail using a check. BJ's accepts only cash or checks. Upon arrival, the signage wasn't clear to us, then saw the sign to register in the clubhouse laundry area. I had called the number and the owner told us what site. Site was reasonably level, hooks ups good and the water good. The bathroom/shower is in clubhouse. We didn't use but it was clean. Two washers and dryers in clubhouse also. Honor system $2.50 per load and both worked well. Clubhouse very clean and has a little library to leave or exchange books. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

BJs is a nice enough park, however, it just doesn't have a lot to work with. The surroundings are very desolate. You are basically camping in the desert, albeit, with full hookups. There's really not much for the kids to do in the campground and the fire ban doesn't help. To be fair, the owners do a good job given the surroundings. The bathrooms are clean and all of the utilities worked fine. As far as location goes, BJs is in a good spot with access to Big Bend NP and Big Bend Ranch State Park. Most of the attractions were within an easy drive. If scores were given based on making the most of the surroundings, I would rate BJs very highly. They achieve a lot with very little help from mother nature. Based on what we saw of other campgrounds in the area, it's definitely near the top of the list around Big Bend. However, I've stayed in truly amazing campgrounds that are blessed with more temperate climates and I can't put BJs in that same league. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The tourist spots in Big Bend are definitely worth it, but make the time to do the scenic drive along the Rio Grande river in Big Bend Ranch State Park. It's definitely worth it, including the hike into Closed Canyon.

When visiting Big Bend National Park, there are a limited number of options in the Terlingua area to pick from. This park looks to be the best option based upon the others we saw in the area. The sites are big rig friendly with plenty of room to park your car. The park has a trailer for the showers and bathrooms, which were reasonable, and the wifi also worked reasonably well. For the price and the area, this is a good choice. See the pictures and full reviews at our blog at thegilliamsisland. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is little more than a place to park your RV in the middle of a junkyard. We were in the "new" section - sites were way too close together. Our view was filled with junk and there was a "beware of dog" sign - the two dogs that were running loose were a pitbull and a rottweiler. There are few places to camp in Terlingua - would suggest you make reservations early at another location in the area. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Big Bend is the calling card in this area. Gorgeous scenery! There is a roadside BBQ place called Iron Skillet (or something like that). Excellent brisket and coleslaw!

Overall Rating:

This is a follow-up on my previous November stay. Rate is based on monthly charge of $500, including utilities. I was able to spend about 3 1/2 weeks here during January and February. I enjoyed its convenient location, level site, perfect site orientation, friendly neighbors and one of the nicest camp hosts I've ever encountered at an RV park. As a frequent visitor to the Big Bend over the past 40+ years, I'm not interested in golf courses, zip lines or resort-level pricing. Bj's excels in what is important to me, at a competitive price point. Accordingly, I booked a site for 2019, based on a great experience. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lots to do and see in this beautiful part of Texas. Nearby Big Bend National Park offers great opportunity for hiking and scenic drives. Several restaurants close by, including Starlight, LaKiva and the Long Draw Pizza. Extensive grocery selection at competitive pricing can be found at nearby Cottonwood Market in Study Butte. Stop by the Quilt Shop and visit with Marguerite... a Big Bend treasure.

We stayed in the new section. The site was so narrow our awning hit the RV next to us. The view could have been nice but, there's so much junk in the way you can't get a good photo. If you stay in the first two rows closest to the highway it's nice. The people are very nice. It really need some TLC! We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

I spent 4 nights here while scouting parks for a longer winter stay after I was informed by the park I've been staying at in the area for the past 4 winters it was raising their monthly rates by 50% in just one year! This park is a real gem. It is small and short on some amenities, but excels on what I consider to be the basics: level site, well-placed functioning hook-ups, excellent WiFi and proper site orientation for the sun. Add to this a very friendly, and professional, manager and a more convenient location for my activities, I now understand why it is rated so high by many customers. Needless to stay, I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay and look forward to returning in January, when I can enjoy their more competitive monthly rates. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Quilt Shop in Study Butte is also worth a visit.

Well situated between both Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State park. Easy to find and close to the highway. Host checked us in quickly and guided us to our site even though it is a very small park. Utilities are well-placed, electric consistent, and water tasty with good pressure. The owners have done some landscaping and there are numerous small trees, but one must remember this is the middle of a desert and shouldn't expect rich, thick grasses or large shade trees!!! The sites are level and well designed so what little rain they have won't flood the sites. The sites are oriented north/south so the "social" side of your coach faces the east and provides great shade in the afternoon. The park does have a dog area that has some grass. There are two private bathrooms in a mobile trailer that also houses the washer/dryer area. Each bathroom has sink, shower and toilet and were clean and well maintained. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Terlingua Ghost Town has a bar/restaurant and a number of shops that may interest visitors. The town of Presidio, about an hour an a half to the west, has a very well-stocked grocery store and the prices are very reasonable. Both Big Bend parks (National and State) are worth several days to explore.

We stayed here for one week to visit Big Bend National Park. The campground offers full hookups with 30/50 amps. There are also washers and dryers available for a $2.50 per load fee. It is the honor system and you place your money in a basket. The owner lives on site and is very accommodating and friendly. They only take cash or checks. The sites are spacious and long, but there are no trees for shade. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Really enjoyed spending time on the front porch in ghost town. Met a lot of the locals and learned a lot about the history of the area from them. Must take the drive from Terlingua to Presidio, beautiful. Also, eat at the Starlight Saloon!

We were very pleased with the park. It sits about 10 miles outside of Big Bend in a little town called Terlingua. The hosts were the most gracious people. You are in the desert/mountains when you come to Big Bend so don't expect anything else. You will be sitting in a desert oasis when you get here . The Wi-Fi worked well for everything and was secured. The price was right, the electric was 30/50, water was good and all the sites I saw were very level and you were not stuck up somebodies butt, plus they were pretty spacious for an RV site. They can handle big rigs and had quite a few pull troughs. We were here for a week and had PLENTY to keep us occupied. Big Bend is an amazing place. Not a lot of amenities in town but had EVERYTHING you needed. We felt right at home, had a wonder time and would definitely come back again. Come on down and ENJOY. You really should make a reservation to assure that you get a spot. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thought this was a great little RV park in the desert. This is a basic campground with everything you need-power, water, laundry, we are minimalists and don't need a whole lot to make us happy. We were in the new section with 30amp power, (we think going to 50 amp when finished) back in site. Plenty of room. No actual pad site yet as it is a work in progress, but we put out our mat on the dirt and it was just fine. There are a few snowbirds wintering here and all were lovely and helpful. Had a potluck get together on the weekend which was fun. They shared great information on hikes in the area as well as Big Bend. Wifi was good. Verizon was 3g and worked fine. They try to keep the park with minimal lighting at night for the stars. We had a full moon, so we didn't get to enjoy that part. Everyone was friendly, we ended up staying an extra day. Will return, hopefully during a new moon. We camped at B.J.'s RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a well stocked market in the town of Study Butte a couple of miles up the road. We opted to stay on this side as we wanted to do the 170 scenic byway drive through Lajitas to Presidio. Excellent! So glad we did it. A little bit of a drive into Big Bend, but we spent most of our time on this side of the park. The Ross Maxwell drive is a must as well as the Santa Elena hike.
