Very nice park, friendly check in, wide level gravel pull thru sites - room to park dinghy alongside motor home, hookups conveniently located at rear, free cable and wifi (very good), very clean and neat park - if not the best, definitely one of the best in Van Horn, only heard a few trains while I was here - never woke me, didn't really notice interstate noise, Porters grocery a short drive away. Will definitely stay here whenever passing thru Texas. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is in desert country where water is very limited and so has very little by way of landscaping or butification but it is spotlessly clean with newly refurbished restrooms and showers. The service was friendly and helpful. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed with an Escapee 50% discount but this park would be a very good choice even with no discount. Van Horn has several RV parks and we have stayed in two others but in the future we will stay in Desert Willow. The park shows real care by the staff and has excellent wifi.

This is mostly an overnight place. Lots of pull-thru's. We ended up staying 4 nights when spring break filled the state and national parks. Good showers, WiFi is better than most, clean bathrooms. The only issue is the noise from the road and the occasional train. Friendly management. Price was great, especially since it included water, electric, sewer, cable, and WiFi. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here one night. Management was very friendly. Cable above average. Fee was 50 cents higher than PA price since I used a credit card, but still one very good value. I will definitely stay here again when passing through this part of Texas. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Van Horn, TX is a good place to stop for the night if, like us, you don't like to drive in the dark. The park is clean, the manager is wonderful but keep in mind, you're right off the highway and next to the train tracks. Trains go by pretty often and many blow their horn. We're pretty heavy sleepers so it didn't impact us too much. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great for an overnight stay. Easy to find. FHU w/ Wifi & cable TV. The owner was very nice. Cons: can hear road noise & trains, however didn't bother us. Would stay here again if we were this way. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was an excellent overnight stay. If you have business in Van Horn, it would make for a fine longer stay, too. The site is essentially a big gravel parking lot, with few amenities. We faintly heard the train a few times, but it didn't wake us up. The road noise from I-10 was minimal. Super friendly staff at check-in, and $13.50 per night with the Escapees discount. Passport America was also $13.50, and the other memberships were slightly more but I don't remember exactly how much. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove about 21 miles south on US-90 to a picnic area on the west side. It was in the "full dark" area of darksitefinder.com's map. It was excellent for star gazing, and we were able to see the winter milky way.

Small park, basic dirt/gravel sites. We were just here for an overnight, and chose it because of the Passport America price ($14)

Sites are close together, and the noise of late check-ins was very loud. We had the site closest to the entrance, which meant constant road noise all night. There is also train noise, but that is to be expected at most rural RV parks. Office staff was very kind and actually stayed open a half hour longer to check us in (we were coming east from AZ and forgot to account for the time change.) Wi-Fi is free and REALLY good. The site was just long enough for our 34' rig and we don't have a toad. It looks like people that have tow vehicles have a harder time here. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park was clean though dusty, as you would expect in West Texas. Owner was friendly and helpful. Our Class A with trailer was 64 feet long and she was able to accommodate. One night stop over.. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

From the looks of things, most of the residents are semi-permanent, some temporary workers probably. The site was fine, but the neighbors were close, although quiet. It felt more like a trailer park than an RV place. The women's bathroom was out of service, and there was an evening crowd hanging out in front of the men's bathroom. The bathroom facilities were OK, clean enough, but very dated. Although the price was reasonable for an overnight stay, I would not stay here again. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very basic campground with level dirt and gravel sites. This was just an overnighter for us, so I can't rate the amenities. The cable worked fine for us. The woman at the office is friendly. She and I had a nice long conversation. We had a site with full hook ups in the main campground, but they have an overflow area across the road. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped here overnight on our way to Dallas. It isn't much to look at, but for the price, you can't beat it if you need a short term stop. Check in was easy, hook ups worked, and the restrooms/showers were surprisingly nice. The spaces are a little tight but we have a smaller RV so that was ok. The only downside was that the train that ran nearby is really loud. If you are a light sleeper, you may need some ear plugs. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.
