Pulled in for an overnight. Long pull through, easy hookup, could walk the dogs all around the back of the park. They do serve breakfast and dinner. We ate breakfast there. Great simple breakfast. Eggs were perfect. Had to do a couple of loads of laundry and that was fine also. It is an older campground and needs a little TLC but it was fine for us and having breakfast available and food was a great thing. Would stop over again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Was a KOA park at some point. We found it very nice and clean. Staff very friendly. The on site cafe is basic but served us an excellent breakfast. Access from I-10 was easy and is far enough away so noise was not an issue for us. We stayed overnight and would stay again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for one night in a 45' MH pulling a pickup truck. Our pull through was quite long and easy to navigate. There was no need to unhook. The sites are dirt. The park is easy access to I-10 and a good place to spend the night. They have a small cafe on site open until 8 pm with a dinner and breakfast menus. They also serve beer and wine. We would stop here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Our experience was tainted by the fact it had rained right before we arrived. The roads and parking are a mix of dust and gravel. We parked at the office to check in and had to walk in thin mud just to get in and out of my (formerly) clean truck. Everywhere we walked or drove we left 1/8-1/4 inch deep tracks. Luckily our site had some weedy grass and I was able to plug in and get in the trailer without further mud. The wind was gusting to 45+ so we were just happy to be parked for the night. Very close to gas and highway so there must be truck noise but we didn't notice due to the wind. Welcome to west Texas! I would probably stay here again but hope it would be dryer. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Really disappointed in this park. They had advertised TV Cable hookups. Yeah, there are hookups, but not all the channels listed on paper given to us when we checked in. The few channels available are VERY fuzzy! And the dog run? Don't put your dog in there--unless you have got a very fat, slow Saint Bernard who won't go under the holes under the fence! The $35 charged is definitely TOO much! We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Penny Self, owner at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) responded to this review

Floridagayle,
I am the owner and I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay here with us.
When I seen your review I took it upon my self to check on all your complaints. First on the TV cable hookups I checked our site map and they all match the TV channels but if you do not turn off your Anti Booster cable switch your TV will not get all the channels. That will also make your TV channels fuzzy. I also checked the dog run our fence goes all the way into the ground. The fencing at the dog run is about 4" wide and if you have a little Chihuahua it will get through the fence.
We do try to our best to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible. We do apologize for any inconvenience that we caused you. Regards Owner

On a positive note, the staff are very accommodating, the pull thru sites are long and level, the rest rooms were clean as well as the Park in general. Further, their diner produces some very tasty meals. They even deliver to your site. On a negative side, there are sand burrs everywhere! Our dog could not walk in what little grass there was and even the designated pet areas were filled with burrs. We even had to scrap off our shoes entering the coach of burrs buried in the soles. In our judgement, the issue could be remedied by removing all the attempts at grass and gravel the entire Park. We will probably write this Park off our list as long as we have pets that need to eliminate outside. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

This is a quiet and convenient location south of I-20 and east of US-90. Our site was long and level. All the utilities were conveniently located and worked well. No problem with cable, but WIFI was slow with occasional drops. The staff here are exceptional! There was a sewer problem at the edge of the campground and they worked tirelessly until it was fixed. I don't think any campers were inconvenienced. We'll stay here again if in the area. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park down the road about 60 miles. There are a lot of rabbits, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and a few grass burrs.

We stayed there two nights over the span of a week while trading motor homes. We were in different sites on each stay, but each was clean, and unobstructed.

Hookups were convenient, and although Van Horn is in the middle of the west Texas desert, there was a nice, grassy area outside our door.

The people were very friendly, and they had a on site restaurant with surprisingly good breakfast menu. Their office hours were the latest I have seen at a campground.

We didn't see or look for any amenities, as we were just traveling through, but it was a good, convenient place to spend the night. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

This was just an overnight stop for us. Owners and staff were friendly and helpful! There are a lot of long term guests who appear to work in the oil fields. Not a problem, everyone seems to follow the rules and keep their spaces clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

We were driving to California with our 34 ft Travel Trailer, this was easy on/off I-20 to stay for the night. Clean and neat gravel pull in site, pets welcome and friendly staff;only downside was cable had some fuzzy channels and internet was spotty. We would stay there again.

Have stayed here many times when it was a KOA and the improvements with the new owners are many. The Wifi worked better, the place is cleaner, it has a new coat of paint, the "miniature golf" fake plywood course is gone. Best of all, there is no longer a cat in the front office... Good overnight stay as always. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Not a destination at all, a short overnight at best. Too many semi to permanent residents.

One "+" is the dog run is divided so more than one animal can be in there.

Can not remember if the Cafe was even open. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for an overnight while passing through. It was good for that purpose. 1/2 mile south of I10. No highway or train noise. Roads and sites are dirt and gravel. Utility connections are a bit dated and worn, but worked OK. Free WiFi that was slow as is the usual case in every park we've ever stayed in. Yes, there were workers staying there for a pipeline project in the area. That's OK -they have to live somewhere. Their rigs were modern and their sites well kept. They were also quiet -even on a Saturday night. Those we saw driving went very slow to keep down the dust. Long, wide pull-throughs. Nice fenced dog area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Used to be KOA. Now a Good Sam Park. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.
