Nice place. Plenty of room for our slides. Could get a little muddy if they got a bunch of rain. Pedestal was sitting in direct sunlight and with both air conditioners going on 30 amp we tripped the breaker a couple of times. Coach was not pulling 30amps as we are aware of our electrical loads. Told them about it when leaving and she said they would replace the outlet. Good Wifi an no problem with my sat dish. Good place to overnight or rest up. Take a look at it with Google sat maps to see how to get from interstate to entrance. Not hard. Will stay here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

This stop was just an overnight on the way across Texas. The park was easy to access from I-10 and just about a half a mile from the highway so noise wasn't a problem. This an older park but clean and well kept. Bathrooms and showers were clean and functional. There was a small fishing pond in the rear of the property as well as a fenced pet run. The park is affiliated with Good Sam so there was a discount from the published fee. I'd stay again if passing through. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here on our way back home to Houston from Utah. It was decent, clean and plenty of space for RV with 4 slide outs. No trees but this is west Texas so you shouldn't expect big shade trees. location is a good break in long drive on I 10. I would stay again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place to stop for the night. The gravel sites are wide and flat and the staff person was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! There are great mountain views, a small pond and a small store with essentials, including beer, wine, and ice cream. We have a 43' motorhome with 22' toad and reserved a pull-through site in the back of the park. We would definitely stay here again! Tips for other Campers:

There are several fast food restaurants in the area and we were told about a local place called RJ's but did not visit any if them.

The address and the A-frame office building are a dead giveaway that this is a former KOA. It is located about a mile off of I-10W which provides a buffer from the Interstate road noise. We are staying in a 110ft long pull-through which is quite adequate for our 45ft motorhome towing a 25ft trailer. This is a great place for a 1-2 night stay. There is almost no shade. All sites are hard surfaced red sand (clay/sandstone?). They offer 2 nice surprises. One is the on-site restaurant offering breakfast and dinner. The other is a good sized catch-and-release fishing pond. Not something you would expect to find in an RV park in a desert location. All in all a "10" for being away from the highway and for an easy in and out park. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Dirt roads, lots of dust from passing cars and just OK for an overnighter. There are a lot of work crews staying there but they are clustered at the back of the park. There was a huge rottweiler tied to a picnic table at a spot behind us with a little white rope. We tried to walk down the road and the dog was lunging at us. My wife refused to walk down the road for fear that the dog was going to break the rope. I didn't blame her. It was ridiculous that they allow these types of dogs to be tied to a picnic table unattended. This dog would have hurt someone seriously. Secondly, I happened to see a sign on the office window about Van Horn being under a "boil alert" for water. Nobody said a word to us and I just happened to see the sign. Not good. Lastly, on the morning we left they shut the water down at 9 a.m. without telling us. We were trying to get ready to leave and suddenly had no water. We then saw a backhoe digging up a water line in the park. Would have been nice to tell folks that the water (even though it was undrinkable) was about to be shut down. I will try not to stay at this park again. I don't feel they are honest with their customers because we should have been told about the "boil alert" and that the water was being shut off. Feel like we were fleeced on this deal. Hate to say it, but don't stay here. The one positive was that it's far enough off the freeway to drown out the freeway traffic and freight train noise, but unacceptable that they let us set up camp without telling us that the water would have made us sick. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, neat, clean. Some shade trees. The sites are level and spacious. Its a former KOA which is a good thing in my mind. The staff was very welcoming, friendly, helpful. We ate dinner at the small cafe on-site; no big deal but we enjoyed our meal and were very happy that the cafe was right there. Met a lady who said she runs the other large RV Park in town but eats dinner here several nights a week. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Park is clean and the service was great. Small store with cute items and necessary items. They were empty when we arrived at 3 but it changed quickly as the night went on. Good overnight stop. Signage was very good. Park is far enough from I-10 to stop the traffic noise. Fuel is available at this exit. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You must eat at the small cafe. Food for dinner and breakfast was priced right and extremely good. They also had a laundry, pool, dog park, and others that we did not use.

Were looking forward to using the pool as it was 83 degrees out on the highway, but found it still covered until May when the blowing dust is expected to ease off. The roads and sites are all dirt with a few patches of brown grass. The good points were pull-thru full hook-ups including cable and wifi, all worked well, twin dog runs with disposal bags, friendly staff, on site cafe, propane and a laundry. Easy access to I-10 but far enough away so highway noise was minimal. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.
